That’s it. No more Clint Eastwood flicks.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Yhe “Talkes” all all abuz with comment about that ad. Many were expecting it to be produced by Ford not by a foreign car company bailed out by US.
When I heard it(wasn’t watching the TV at the time), I thought it WAS an 0bama campaign ad. When he said “halftime in America” I thought my wife and I were gonna throw up!
This and the GE commercial were both blatant Obama 2012 commercials.
It was a depressing thing. Only a looser would need to try to explain why it was not really a looser.
.
I had the impression he was saying the current administration is the half-time, a breather if you want to call it that, and we are now ready to get on with the next "American Century". (we just need to be relieved of the a$$hat currently in the oval office.
BTW...Eastwood is a Republican.
I’m pretty sure Eastwood is a libertarian, and not a fan of Obama. People are looking too hard into things.
It`s Half-Time in America and Obama is playing the part of the New England Patriots.
THe other half will still be played and we know what awaits America if this Obamination continues.
Wasn’t it a Government Motors ad??
I don’t believe Eastwood would have put his name with this if he thought there was a connection to the o. I did chuckle, however, when one realizes Chrysler is not very Detroit anymore. I actually took the commerial as what a coach might tell a team that was getting their a$$ kicked. OK America, it’s half time...are you going to continue to miss tackles, drop passes and blow blocking patterns (like you have for the last 3 years) or are you going to come out in the second half and win this game for the Gipper? And you know who I mean.
It was Chrysler trying to get people to buy their cars. They used a theme that would make people think Detroit is on its way back. It has nothing to do with Obama. Frankly, you play this add during the fourth year of any President’s term and you would be able to draw a connection. All Presidents campaign for re-election on the themes that things are getting better, but we need another four years to finish the job.
The ad was created to sell Chrysler products, period.
It is “Halftime in America”- and Obama is the NE Patriots.
what was that all about anyway?
who paid for that ad?
I don’t believe Eastwood knew that this would come out as Political. He is most often associated with Conservative Republican politics. I believe he was “had” on this one. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him come out in the next few days refuting the Dem. spin on this.
Eastwood sounded tough in the commercial and it made people feel good. But the commercial should have said that we delayed the inevitable rather than biting the bullet and going through a restructuring now. What Eastwood is shilling for is a government imposed plan that screwed secured creditors and non-union workers at the expense of union workers. There will be another downturn and the automakers’ cost structures will still be uncompetitive because they didn’t have the ability to get out of premium union contracts through a bankruptcy.
As much as I like Clint, his commercial was a great example of what we’ve become. Talking tough and congradulating ourselves for something that didn’t happen. We did not bite the bullet. We did not face the pain that is necessary to rebuild on solid ground. Obama protected his constituency at the expense of taxpayers and ultimately hurt the long-term future of the aut industry. But you won’t hear Clint say that.
“an account of Detroits comeback”
When?
It sounded like a commercial for Obama to me. Disappointing.
