The Super Bowl is televised advertisings equivalent of the Cannes Film Festival, so White House political strategists must have been smiling when whats generally being hailed as this years best spot -- the Chrysler "Halftime in America" commercial -- subtly echoed the themes of President Barack Obamas reelection campaign.(snip)Just to ice the cake, the gritty two-minute spot featured actor/director Clint Eastwood, whose politics usually put him on the Republican side of the aisle. In the spot, Eastwoods voice narrates an account of Detroits comeback and, then, when his unmistakably craggy face appears on screen,

Wasn’t it a Government Motors ad??
That was exactly the reaction at our home last night.

I don’t believe Eastwood would have put his name with this if he thought there was a connection to the o. I did chuckle, however, when one realizes Chrysler is not very Detroit anymore. I actually took the commerial as what a coach might tell a team that was getting their a$$ kicked. OK America, it’s half time...are you going to continue to miss tackles, drop passes and blow blocking patterns (like you have for the last 3 years) or are you going to come out in the second half and win this game for the Gipper? And you know who I mean.
“Its loser not looser and he is neither.”
So what? It’s mute and irrevalunt to! 8^)
It was Chrysler trying to get people to buy their cars. They used a theme that would make people think Detroit is on its way back. It has nothing to do with Obama. Frankly, you play this add during the fourth year of any President’s term and you would be able to draw a connection. All Presidents campaign for re-election on the themes that things are getting better, but we need another four years to finish the job.
The ad was created to sell Chrysler products, period.
It is “Halftime in America”- and Obama is the NE Patriots.
That is either the best joke, or I hate you...I think joke.
I’m disturbed by Clint Eastwood’s late life leftward swing.
He came out in support of homo marriage a few months ago. He identifies himself as libertarian, so anything anybody wants to do is fine with him I guess.
“Im pretty sure Eastwood is a libertarian, and not a fan of Obama. People are looking too hard into things.”
Agreed. I’ve wondered how much of the older and wiser Eastwood is in “Grand Torino”.
Let’s kill everyone who doesn’t agree with us.
what was that all about anyway?
who paid for that ad?
Pretty much my take; somewhat apolitical. Think "GLOBAL", think "competitive economies", think UAW accepting two-tier wage structure.
Disappointed?
Disappointed? :(
I would guess a lot of him is in the movie.
I’ve always been a fan of Eastwood as I mistakenly thought he represented a pinpoint of light in Hollywood. After reading that bio it’s evident I was sadly mistaken. The guy is absolutely clueless.
