Did you know that bin Laden is the vice president of the United States, or that the Civil War led to Americas independence? How about that Canadas a state?
Well, thats what some local students at (what appears to be) a Washington state high school think. In a video thats probably a few hours from going viral, a young man decided to question classmates for a video called Lunch Scholars. It is anything but scholarly.

Here’s what my daughter learned about the cold war in her “world Geography/History” class: America and the Soviet Union were like two spoiled children fighting over a ball. The Vietnam and Korean war were a waste of resources. The money we spent on nuclear bombs would have better been spent on education and helping the poor.
No, I mean the three countries.
We had a discussion of civics at the dinner table this past Monday night. My 5th grader knew:
- The number of House members
- The number of people on the Supreme Court
- How often POTUS/Senators/House Reps are elected
- Identified POTUS, VPOTUS, SOS, Governor, CT Senators
- All four GOP POTUS candidates
- Basic differences between a democrat and a republican
- Could name who was POTUS when each of his siblings were born
- knew the names of the people on all US paper currency (except the $10 bill)
- knew how a bill was passed in the Federal government
I was rather impressed.
Hmmmm... now you've piqued my interest. I love trivia, and this sounds like an interesting trivia question, if it's legit.
If *indeed* there could be said to be a third country bordering the USA, I'd guess Russia (after Mexico & Canada, of course).
My reasoning? Their "national waters" border ours at/near the Diomede islands.
Am I close? Lol!
Since you didn’t specify, I am assuming he/she is not home schooled. Does he/she attend private or public school?
Either way, thank you for the glimmer of hope.
Give us strength Lord, and guide our course.
Tatt
...then I deleted maroon and replaced it with idiot and forgot to include the n.
LOL! I've done the same thing you mentioned many times so I know just how you feel.
You're right, idiot does fit better. I'll try not to be an idiot myself in the future.
Again, my apologies.
Granted it is a water border, but it is a direct border with no international waters between the two countries.
Quite a bit of our border with Canada and Mexico is also water.
It’s about the stupid, Stupid.
In less than a year or two, those kids will be voting.
The libs should be very proud.
Great trivia question, Beagle!
Now I have to go show my wife this thread. She thinks I'm only a quarter-wit, but I've told her repeatedly that I'm a complete half-wit! Lol!
Canada and Mexico, sure — but, what if you include ocean borders. Sarah Palin was right about Russia, and all the sniggering leftist morons in the MSM were, and continue to be, wrong.
Then there's Cuba, and who knows how many others in the Caribbean. And if U.S. possessions are counted, how many others?
My 8th grade daughter gave a presentation for “History Day” on the Holocaust. It was an evening open-house with all the kids giving their reports, etc. Some were very good, but it was interesting to see the vast majority of them had to do with women voting, MLK, several on women's styles in the 20’s, and other liberal stuff.
After my daughter gave her presentation on the Holocaust some boys asked a bunch of questions (the other presenters got none).
“I find it hard to believe some guy could just kill 6 million people - that's a lot of people.”
“Yeah - and how did they allow that to happen?”
“Where did you find out about this anyway?”
I asked my daughters why those boys were just razzing on her and not the other kids. She looked at me puzzled. “How come those boys were teasing you with their questions?”
They weren't teasing dad.
Huh? You mean they hadn't heard of the Holocaust?
No - probably not.
Didn't you learn about this in school?
No - I read a book about it on my own awhile ago, and then found some others about it for the project.
And while the others were doing reports on MLK, my other daughter gave the other side of the story and did hers on Malcolm X.

Few know the President Reagan once threatened military action with Canada if they didn't stop harassing American fishermen ( Michigan) in the Saint Clair river.
Canada was ticketing fishermen for not having a nonresident fishing license if they strayed over the border, which is the middle of a freaking river.
To make matters worse Canadian officials were taking the fishermen, and their boats, back to the Canadian shore and refusing to release them until the fines were paid.
Reagan told them to cut the crap or they might be getting a visit by the US Navy.
That was the end of their silly game. After that they didn't write anymore tickets in that river.
Any wonder why we have a cipher for president. Obozo - a man of the times for the times. Look up the word mediocre in the dictionary, Obozo’s photo should be there.
Not really debatable - Russia. Although I didn’t think of it when the kid asked the question. On one of those Leno ones I recall some gal talking about Alaska and how it is an island. I imagine she thought that as on a lot of maps it is shown as an inset down in the corner. Just like Hawaii often is.
With all of the homework and stuff that my kids have, I can’t understand how some kids can be so stupid.
My bad — thanks.
BTW, most people wouldn’t know that Canada shares a maritime border with France. We also have an ongoing land border dispute with Denmark. The Danes even sent in warships a few years ago. It’s doubtful that the UN Security Council is monitoring events.
There is no doubt in my mind that this is the case. FR people really need to be brainstorming ideas for methods to push back on that. Sadly, teaching is a career that seems to attract leftists more strongly than conservatives.
LOL! Too bad for me it was before my incident. I got caught in my canoe in the Minnesota boundary waters, but on the Canadian side of the lake. They gave me a ticket, which luckily I was able to pay later seeing as I was 4 days out from the nearest town.
I caught up to the two mounties at the next portage and they offered me lunch!
But then an even greater force emerged, the UN ....and the U.N. un-nazied the world - forever.
