Newt Gingrich has effectively called on Rick Santorum to drop out of the presidential race, yet the former Pennsylvania senator continues to poll in the double digits and shows no sign of quitting. Why are so many conservatives dissatisfied with a choice between Gingrich and Mitt Romney? Michelle Malkin's Santorum endorsement is a good primer....
[Santorum] didn't cave when Chicken Littles in Washington invoked a manufactured crisis in 2008. He didn't follow the pro-bailout GOP crowd - including Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich - and he didn't have to obfuscate or rationalize his position then or now...
Santorum opposed individual health care mandates - clearly and forcefully - as far back as his 1994 U.S. Senate run. He has launched the most cogent, forceful fusillade against both Romney and Gingrich for their muddied, pro-individual health care mandate waters.
He voted against cap and trade in 2003, voted yes to drilling in ANWR, and unlike Romney and Gingrich, Santorum has never dabbled with eco-radicals...

Good point. How much weight does a Malkin or a Coulter endorsement have anyway?
Not much is my guess.
If you can't appreciate the pure beauty of the violin after hearing this, something's wrong with your ears.
Or you can get raw with these strings.
How about this gamechanger from America's Got Talent (which they SHOULD have won).
And finally, this, dedicated to the one and only rdb2, whose eyes are growing dim.
Either way, the violin is sweet yet LETHAL.
Do it!
Newsmax is reporting Santorum has exausted campaign funds.
I have nothing against Santorum.
But I doubt he can win against nobama.
I continue to believe that Newt is the only one to beat nobama.
I suspect that on the evening of Jan. 31, we will find there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between primary voters in FL and those in AZ to come! They sincerely believe it is “Mitt’s turn.”
Wish it were true....but Obama will limit Newt to two debates. This will give him plenty of time to dig through Newts freight, and then you have to ask your self. How much more dirt does Faux Conservative Newt have? Newt will lose women who really don’t care for guys who are serial cheaters, people who really know that Newt is just a BIG Government guy with big government solutions. Just what a bankrupt nation needs.

Huh? Santorum was defeated in Nov. 2006, so he was a private citizen in 2008.
I feel a bit alienated by both Santorum and Romney. I am a devout Catholic and in my younger former life, I made some bad choices, including becoming pregnant with my first son at 19 and having a quick wedding to the father of my son. I came from an Irish Catholic family, so, it was kind of not optional shall we say. Needless to say, the marriage lasted less than 2 years.
At that point, a little older and wiser, I married my current husband, and we have been married for over 20 years and have 2 sons together, along with my son from our first marriage whom my husband raised as his own since he was 2.
I am pretty sick of hearing about Newts marriages. His first was to a teacher if I understand correctly, and that can be a heady time for a very young person. We all say a couple of things- too soon old and too late smart, as well as - man, if I could get a do over I would change __________________.
This much I can say- I believe him when he says he is a changed man in this regard. In my younger years, I left the Catholic church and became a Baptist for several years. I studied my way back into the Catholic Church after 8 years of hard study, prayer and discussion. I can tell you this, without a shadow of a doubt: 1. NO ONE converts to the Catholic Church for political expediency! We are pretty much lepers as far as presidential candidate go. and #2- You don’t convert to the Catholic Church at 65 years old because its easier. There are a lot of scrutinies and a year of preparation to do so. It would have been both more politically practical and plain easier to remain an evangelical and have a Jim Baker moment.
I am pretty sure JFK was the first and last Catholic president so that wasn’t his motive, and since a huge chunk of Catholics are pretty liberal, that wasn’t the reason either, so I have a tendency to believe his conversion of heart is true.
All that being said, over 50% of married couples have a divorce in their lives. That means a great deal of people either have experienced divorce or are married to someone who has. As messy as it is, for this conservative woman, I understand how ignorance and youth cause poor choices in life and sometimes those things lead to divorce. While I do NOT condone divorce in any way, I do understand, along with a large majority of the population, that they happen. Telling me that is a reason not to vote for someone and that it is truly their only determining factor as to whom could make a good president has lost my vote.
I am as conservative as they come-but I have made some regrettable decisions in my past that I am not proud of. I feel like every time I hear them bash Newt for this, they are bashing me, even though I married because I was pregnant and tried to do the right thing after a poor decision. I am sure there are many more like me out there, so keep reminding us.
I was actually for Cain first, then it was a hard prayerful decision to back either Newt or Rick. I chose Newt because I believe he has the vision, ideas, and ability to implement them based on his record. I appreciate Santorums stance on abortion, family values and so forth, but I do not believe he has the tools to get the job done in Washington.
As I have read comment after comment regarding Newt vs Rick, the most common one by far was not policy or conservative vs lib, it was he was married once versus Newts 3. I just felt it was time to say, this is not a valid argument except from those who would cast a first stone against not only Newt, but me, and thousands like me out there, that had the unfortunate misfortune to possess bad judgement, lack of wisdom and commit a sin, and repent. I have asked for Gods forgiveness, amended my ways, and done my best since then to live as a Christian example. I am thankful that God is my judge, because if it were left to some others I have seen on here, my fate would be sealed.
This rant was not against you doll, just wanted to get it out there, and your post was as good as any to put it :)
So what? Santorum, as a private citizen in 2008, vocally opposed TARP and the wall street bailouts. Newt Gingrich, also a private citizen, vocally lent his support to TARP and the wall street bailouts in 2008.
Newt has to be more than debates because they’ve already figured out how to stack the debate deck against him.
Indeed. And I'm in that same boat with you, wombtotomb.

It’s not that she’s playing it safe. Michelle Malkin has had a hate on for Newt for quite a while now. That kinda explains why Hot Air is so anti-Newt. Rven though she sold HA to Townhall.com, they still call her “The Boss” there.
Or, maybe like me and many others, she just thinks Santorum is a better candidate. It IS possible, you know.
That's when she wanted to advance the conservative cause.
Apparently, no more.
Didn’t take long for Michelle to change her mind. Thursday night on Hannity she said she wasn’t endorsing anyone real soon.

You could be right. I don’t think so, I think most would go to Newt, but reluctantly.
