Lord, I pray that you continue to bless our nation with the gift of liberty. I pray for Newt Gingrich, that he seek your will for the sake of your glory. May the glory be yours, Lord. Reveal yourself in us and through us, may we be filled with the Holy Spirit. I pray for the political victory of Newt Gingrich, if this is your will.

In the name of your son Jesus Christ, our eternal Saviour and Lord, Amen.

"O God, who by your Providence did lead our forefathers to this land where they found refuge from oppression and freedom to worship you, and who in this land has made the people the ministers of your just rule, turn their hearts to you, that holding their citizenship as a sacred trust, they may guard, defend and use it according to your will. Also, that serving you with willing, joyful and obedient hearts, they may cherish their freedom as a blessing of your Gospel. We beseech you ever to guide our Nation in the way of truth and peace so that we may never fail in the blessing which you have promised to those people whose God is the Lord. We also humbly implore you to regard Newt Gingrich, seeking to be the President of the United States, his counselors, and all others who will be in authority over us; that, guided by your Holy Spirit, they may be high in purpose, wise in counsel, and unwavering in duty; and in the administration of their solemn charge may wholly serve your will, uphold the honor of our Nation, secure the protection of our people, and set forward every righteous cause; through Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord. Amen."

AMEN!!!

Thank you from my heart, MissMagnolia, for your sublime and gracious prayer!

Like you, Brad's Gramma, Newt was not my first choice. It was Gov. Perry — a solid Constitutionalist, eminently successful Executive, and very gracious man who withdrew from the contest, perhaps thereby giving Newt a boost in South Carolina at a time when he needed "momentum" going into Florida.

It has been said of Newt's campaign that he has "died and been resurrected twice" already, "against all odds" (as determined by the Republican National Committee — with whom I have a very serious bone to pick, because of their contempt for the Tea Party). This must make Newt the current "comeback kid...."

...running against his own party's Establishment — which sounds like a good thing to do to me.... In recent times, the official party has been as guilty as the Democrats of undermining our system of individual liberty under just and equal laws.

And so today, I'm getting off the fence and coming out for Newt. Having a clearer sense of who his enemies are, I find I need to support him.

No one is perfect. Newt has a reputation for "unpredictability." He has had a pretty messy personal life. But no one can deny that he got some very serious things accomplished in the decade of the '90s — really "big" ideas culminating in The Contract with America, welfare reform, balanced budgets, etc.

Romney may be "squeaky clean" on paper (so to speak; but then, maybe not as several prominent FReepers have pointed out). But at the end of the day, he comes across like a soulless technocrat; and I find it difficult to forgive him for the sociocultural degeneration that occurred in Massachusetts under his tenure as governor (e.g., same-sex marriage, RomneyCare). He's the kind of guy who can make the trains run on time. Beyond that, I do not sense any particular fervent commitment on his part to the idea of America as anything BUT a functioning (more or less) economic system....

And so I'm pledging to Newt — this, BTW, makes me a "Newtonian," not a "Newtist"... LOLOL!

With all his warts, I'll take a protean thinker, steeped in American history and the Constitution, over a soulless technocrat whose campaign is largely funded by institutions which are up to their eyeballs in "crony capitalism"; e.g., Solomon Brothers.

And so, my prayer for Newt:

Dearest Father in Heaven, when the David of We the People goes up against the Goliath who seeks to destroy them, may his aim be true. Hold him safe from the harm of false witness, vituperation, and slander from those who wish to destroy him. May Thy Grace be ever with him, may he stand firmly upon the Rock of Thy Truth.

Holy Father, guard our champion from falsehood and harm. May Thy Light lead his path; may Thy Spirit be with him. May he truly be an effective champion of the principles which have ever made our "exceptional" America great. For America is founded in Thy Logos; our prosperity as a nation has ever depended on it. Indeed, this is the very thing that makes America "exceptional" among the historical community of nations.

Lord, help us in our time of need! And may Thy instrument — Newt Gingrich — be ever faithful unto You in the discharge of his duties to the American public, now and always. I pray Lord, give him the strength to be a faithful servant of the American people — but most of all of You, my gracious, merciful Lord!

Dearest Father, hear my prayer, in the Name of your only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. In all things, Father, Thy will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Thy will, not mine, be done. Amen.

Things would be easier now, if Rick Santorum would recognize that "now is not his time," and graciously withdraw from the race — so as to prevent any further fractionating of the conservative base. I am glad to leave this up to his conscience. Though I do note: Gov. Perry has already most graciously established a precedent for this.

May God ever bless the United States of America! May He be with us in our current travails! May He ever draw us into His truth and righteousness!

Otherwise, I simply do not know what will become of us — We the People of the United States of America. But if we lose to a Lie, not much good can be expected for the future prospects of a nation devoted to the principle of individual liberty under limited government.

For that is the very sort of thing that the Father of Lies most detests.

Godspeed, Mr. Newt!

Tonight I’m reading “The Real George Washington” and came across this quote:

“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”
....Benjamin Franklin

Lord, we beg YOU, lead us, strengthen us and bless America once again.

Dear Lord Jesus,
We pray you would give Newt the strength and courage to continue his battle for this Country. We pray you give him the words to say and comfort him in his decisions. We pray for your touch for the people making their decisions today and tomorrow as they vote. We pray your healing on this country.

In Your Holy Name,
Amen

Father,

We beg of you humbly to forgive the many sins of our nation. We know that we have ignored You in so many of our decisions and now we are facing the potential loss of all those freedoms You have granted us here in America. We now claim the promise that the “prayers of those who strive toward righteousness will be effectual”. We ask for your divine intervention in the affairs of our beloved country. We pray that You will hold back the forces of evil that would impede Your divine care for America. Protect those candidates who love You and give wisdom to those who vote tomorrow in Florida. With tears, we ask that Your marvelous grace will once more shine upon our country. In the name of our Saviour Jesus Christ, we ask these things. Amen.
