Newt hints at Rubio for VP
WND ^ | 1-27-2012 | Jerome Corsi

The man of the night at the Jan. 26 University of North Florida Republican debate wasn’t Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum or Ron Paul – in fact, he wasn’t even on stage.

Some might say it was Sen. Marco Rubio.

Rubio was favored by three of the four candidates as a Hispanic pick for their administrations – with frontrunner Gingrich hinting that he might pick Rubio as his vice president.

I will NOT vote for any presidential ticket that includes Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal or Nikki Haley.

West would be better. his ex military background would help back up that side of the ticket when contrasted with Obana’s hippycrats.

[ The fact that Newt - the “historian” would offer an unconstitutional choice in a trial balloon is almost enough to make me rescind my support. ]

Ugh He didnt say Vice President.. and it was response to a question by a Hispanic..
And he didnt say Rubio...either.. Florida has many Cubans to choose from..

Some more anti-socialist than either Myth or nOOt.. both of whom are “progressives”..

“...Marco Rubio - who is NOT a Natural Born Citizen - his parents were immigrants who were not naturalized at the time of his birth...”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Which is EXACTLY why he should be picked. I’ve always thought that Rubio or Bobby Jindal should run for president. And when the issue of they’re not being a NBC comes up?
Quote Joe Biden. (BFD)
Hey. If not being a NBC is good enough for Obama, then it should be good enough for Rubio or Jindal.
This is crazy. Rubio just endorsed Mitt, with the Florida primary in progress.
Second, I agree. Rubio is not an NBC. And just because the Democrats cheat, lie, steal, and stomp on the Constitution doesn’t mean that Conservatives should join them. (The GOP already has joined them, I’m afraid.)
Third, Rubio has proven to be something of a flipper flopper, with this Romney endorsement only the latest of many problems. I don’t trust the guy. Let him prove himself where he is.
“Perhaps Newt is floating Rubio so that Newt can say, “upon further review. even though I like and respect Rubio, I cannot have him as my running mate because he does not meet the NBC qualifications for office.”
That brings up the issue without having to say anything about Obama. Strategery!
"Please correct me if I’m wrong, but there are no provisions in the Constitution that would prevent Rubio from being Vice-President, as there are no NBC requirements for VPOTUS."
You might want to check the Twelfth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
Exactly. To say that someone born a citizen is automatically a “natural born citizen” is simply begging the question, or using a circular argument.
At the same time it makes the unfounded assumption that there is no distinction between a citizen and a “natural born citizen.”
I’ll ask anyone reading to take notice: If there is no difference, then why have two different terms: “natural born citizen” and “citizen”?
I have read the evidence and it supports the idea that someone who is born a citizen is a “Natural Born Citizen”. There isn’t an extra layer to reach that mythical status.
And yes, Vattel was widely known in the time of the writing of the Constitution.
But so was English Common Law.
And English Common Law was the basis of our law, except where specified.
If the writers of the Constitution wanted to use Vattel as the basis for who was eligible to be President, they would have spelled it out, or at least the early courts would have supported it. They didn’t. They supported English Common Law.
Newt’s just trolling for the Florida native son vote.
(Still it would be amusing to see Team Obama challenge Rubio)...
Food for thought:
They teach my 5th grader in Social Studies that the constitution requires:
The President to be at least 35 years old,
a resident for 14 years,
and a Natural Born Citizen.
The next question in the fifth grade textbook is:
What is a NBC? Answer: Someone having two citizen parents.
They have been teaching this for years and years and years. It was always accepted before the current resident of the WH.
I see a lot of supposition and argument from Donofrio, but not a lot of court citations that say anything about what he is saying.
Would you be open to reading, from Supreme Court decisions, the actual argument against a third type of citizenship?
I’m with you Danae
I can’t believe this keeps coming up! Rubio can not be Vice President. What in the world are these people thinking? I do hope this story is untrue!
Newt understands the Constitution. Rubio is only ineligible to birthers.
Bingo. Birther definitions of who is eligible won't have the slightest impact on who Newt (or anyone else) chooses for his running mate. My guess is Gingrich will indeed pick Rubio.
I could have sworn I heard Mittens say last night that his father was born in Mexico. Could this be yet another reason why the demwits want Mittens as the republican candidate, so the NBC issue can’t be used against the Kenyan? Since the Kenyans father was a British subject?
