.......As Gingrich’s fate rises, so does Obama’s zot

In short, the markets think Obama is more likely to defeat Gingrich than Romney, so when the former speaker's fortunes elevate, so do the president's.
Over the last week, Gingrich's likelihood of winning the nomination has climbed from about 5 percent to about 30 percent. Currently, Gingrich is about 39 percent likely to defeat Obama if he makes it to the general election, while Romney is about 44 percent likely to reach the White House if he's the nominee.

Personally, I don't think Newt can beat bammy.

Women simply won't vote for him.

Don't believe me?

Ask one.

The problem with a Mitt nomination, SETTING ASIDE any possibly-unfair attacks on him due to his wealth, is simply this: The base of conservative voters has HAD IT with “getting in line,” obediently voting for a Dole and a McCain, and now a Mitt, instead of for a solid conservative. Mitt would lose a lot of the right bank of the mainstream.

Yeah, I think Newt has problems, OTHER problems. (I can’t speak to the polling data on women voters.) I’m just saying Don’t overlook Mitt’s problem of losing a lot of conservative voters.

Some have suggested that Newt is preferable because his candidacy would not affect “down ticket” races. In contrast, a Mitt nomination just might make a lot of conservatives sit at home in disgust.

Who knows ...

I think Newt has a lot better chance of beating 0ero than Romney. If Romney gets the nod, a lot of Pubbies will be so ticked off at being ‘McCained’ that they will stay home.

Don’t believe me?

Ask them.

FLASHBACK 1980........All the smart guys on TV and in the press said Ronald Reagan was not electable. They said if the Republican voters make the mistake and make him the nominee he suffer a Goldwater like defeat at the hands of Jimmy Carter. When all was said and done, Reagn blasted Carter by 10% and carried 44 states against Carters. He even carried Massachusetts and NY!

Here were are again. All the smart guys on TV and the press say the same thing about Newt. I, for one, am sure they are wrong. Newt has already been declared dead 3 times, but he keeps coming back. He is the only equipped for a tough fight against the boy Marxist. He’s the only one with the stones to attack Obama. Newt is the ONLY guy in the race that CAN win.

We did ask them in South Carolina who voted.
The bombshell accusation from former Speaker Newt Gingrich’s second wife that he had requested an “open marriage” did not cost him the female vote in South Carolina, polls show.

According to exit polling conducted by Edison Research, Gingrich won a plurality of the female vote with 36 percent of South Carolina’s voting Republican women checking his box Saturday.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won 30 percent, Texas Rep. Ron Paul won 13 percent, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum garnered 19 percent and Texas Gov. Rick Perry (who dropped out of the race this week) was still th

I’m comforted by the fact that “the experts” are almost always wrong. Besides, gasoline is going to be $4.50 per gallon this summer, minimum. People are going to be so ready to throw Obama out by November that he might not last till the election.

I don't buy this at all.
I heard on radio in Florida today that Newt was catching Romney in the national polling and as well as Obama. It's the elites trying to get enough of the base to wander off so they can enter a new light rino who seems conservative. I hope voters don't fall for this trick.

Gingrich has problems.

Romney is a problem.

When your own party's base voters hate you, you cannot win.

Newt, at least, can inspire. Romney inspires no one. But he's certainly got the vote of cocktail-party circuit Republicans permanently dependent on government, for what that's worth. And what it's worth is another guaranteed electoral loss.

The only “speaking to the polls” anyone needs to do at this point is to say Kerry was 7 points ahead of Bush in July 2004. Gingrich shooting up 30 points in one week in South Carolina is probably worth noting too.
