No justification for beating the quarterback and I hope they throw the book at the ROPers.
But it peeves the hell out of me to watch a team with a 41 point lead kneel on the ball and run out the clock. It is just one reason why I hate the New England Patriots.
But I would still never advocate gang-beating Tom Brady.
“the hell out of me to watch a team with a 41 point lead kneel on the ball and run out the clock”
So They should have tried for more points????
Or maybe they should have just given the ball to the other team so they could equalize the points a little bit better???
Not many options here and I thought it was the teams responsibility to keep the other team from scoring points. Maybe I got the jist of this whole competition thing wrong.
and your right. The New England Patriots are the only football team in the NFL, colleges, or high schools that take a knee to run out the clock. We should tax them 25% of whatever they score and give it to the opposing team.
The only other option is to continue to advance the ball and try to score. Is that what you would advocate with a 41 point lead with less than a minute left?
And would you think it okay when one of your players goes down with an injury because you find taking a knee distasteful? I don't get it.
They should have played on for a 48 point lead?
If this “peeves” you, then you don’t understand how football works. What do you expect them to do? Run up the score? Punt the ball away? Kneeling is the honorable, and intelligent, thing to do.
Why on Earth would you say that? It makes absolutely no sense. Not a football coach in the world would agree with you.
Very foolish thinking, Vigilanteman.
And it looks like I'm not the only one to call you on it. How about coming back and explaining?
But it peeves the hell out of me to watch a team with a 41 point lead kneel on the ball and run out the clock.
Why?
Seems reasonable: the game is over except for the clock. At best they can only kneel 4 times so the time was 1:30 or so minutes to go.
It peeves the hell out of me to watch a team with a 41 point lead attempt to continue to score with only seconds left on the clock.....
Any attempt to advance the ball or try to score in the remaining seconds of the game will only create the possibility of the winning team incurring an unnecessary injury to a player.......
.I'm extremely surprised that you don't realize that.
