“The bluebloods want their party back.”
May as well align with the truth, they’re modern day Tories, and ought to be treated as such.
No, no and Hell no. Jeb is not a bad guy, but A: everybody is sick of the Bush dynasty; B: everybody hates dirty politics and C: did I mention how sick everybody is of the Bush dynasty? No way.
Go Newt! They are running scared!
I see a few names being floated around as if it is a done deal.
I take it you don’t like Palin. Why?
Go Pee
If they try this crap, THEY WILL LOSE EVERY DOWN ELECTION as Tea Party republicans jump ship in droves.
The are wrong. Hello third party. Hello Obama plurality. Hello Democrat House and Senate.
And one of those that tried to force him out has a key position today.
Then I stay home on election day and spend my time reloading and sighting in. As for the rest, it doesn't matter because 0bama will be re-elected. Four more years of this and there won't be any need to worry about which Republican empty suit's "turn" it is in 2016, because there won't be much left to govern.
So? The members of his own party are dirtbags.
I think Palin is helping Newt in the best way that she can. She is supporting him, who can’t see this. She is very powerful. I think Rubio will be offered the VP position since the insiders came to Florida with millions, along with Charlie Crist to destroy him. The moderates want the power. It would be too destructive to have a brokered convention-If the elites try that, Palin will help the conservatives. If they stop the conservative, big revolt from the right. She is watching because she has people power. They must hate her since she has this power. Who in the media is at her level-no book author or pundit. They against us are in panic.
Two problems with that scenario:
1) The delegates are still the ones that have the final decision on who the nominee will be. They are only bound on their 1st vote, after that they can vote for whoever they want.
2) Ron Paul has been making plans for a brokered convention for 4 years. What he did was have his supporters sign up to be convention delegates for OTHER candidates (Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, etc...) They'll be bound to vote for their pledged candidate on the first ballot, but after that they'll be all Paul's.
Nobody knows exactly how many phantom Paul delegates there are, but what I'm hearing is it's a pretty big number. If Paul goes into the convention with 15% of the delegates plus 15% phantom delegates, that would give him around 30% on the second ballot (he might actually get more than Romney on the second ballot).
At that point, it only takes 20% of the other delegates to get ticked enough at the GOP establishment to say screw-it and make Paul the nominee just to give the finger to the GOP establishment.
That anyway, seems to be Paul's plan. A heck of a long shot, but you have to give him points for imagination.
“That’s the real fear of the GOP Establishment. If it was confident that Newt would beat Obama and ensure that both houses of Congress would have Republican majorities, the Establishment would ignore Newt’s recent transformation into a self-proclaimed Tea Party, anti-elite rebel and back him to the hilt.”
I think this is only part of it. The real fear, IMO, is that Gingrich would actually shake things up. The R Establishment is pretty comfy and doesn’t want things shaken up.
eRepublicans or eGOP
Decent shorthand, rolls of the tongue easily.
I thought I saw a national poll yesterday that had Obama and Newt tied.
If that happens odinga wins.
Thanks...good research.
It someone ran the gauntlet on these (NJ, NY, NB, MN, OR, PA, SD, UT, CA, DE, IN, KY) it seems they would have enough delegates to cause serious convention difficulties.
But Santorum will presumably win PA (?) and Romney presumably UT...so really the biggest states remaining are NJ, NJ and CA.
Not sure about the math on that, but, all in all, it looks unlikely that someone can enter at this time and make a serious (rather than a vanity, or a spoiler) run for the GOP nomination.
[Is Sonny Boy Willie so corrupt that he too will sell out the GOP nominee to satisfy his over blown ego ???]
Do fish swim?
Anyone who tossed their hat in the ring, has a certain amount of respect from me. Like Newt said, all this nasty stuff the LSM does/the Alinsky tactics, makes it difficult get good people to even be interested in public service.
The way I feel, is I'll stick with the flawed candidates we have rather than the cowards who took a pass.
