I’ve got to think Monday night’s debate further swelled the groundswell of support for Mitch Daniels. The liveliest part of the debate was at the beginning, when Mitt went after Newt—and Republicans all over America watched with fascinated horror at the thought that these are the two GOP frontrunners.
The only spectacle in American politics more off-putting than Newt Gingrich in self-righteous defense mode is Mitt Romney in self-righteous attack mode. I thought Mitt’s attacks were somewhat more dishonest than Newt’s defenses were disingenuous, but it was good to move on to the rest of the debate, where little further damage was done.

I agree completely- and that's BEFORE he speaks!
Only an elitist like Krystol would think that Mr. “Call a truce on social issues” Daniels would be acceptable to the largest group of conservatives.
These Beltway boys are really grasping at straws. They are desperate and Mitt is toast.
I honestly don’t believe either Romney or Mitt are really all that conservative. But Mitt is worse and his elite cocktail party people need to sit down, shut up and stop imagining they can decide things for us or tell us what to do.
Mittens went on the attack—maybe be took some of the hot air out of Newt—but it just stopped the bleeding. He must have more ammunition if he is to win Florida. Newt didn’t do as well, but held his own—there will be another debate Friday—round two.

I am sorry, but the fact is this is the hand we have been dealt.
Either Romney, Newt or Obama are going to be President.
Those are our choices.
The attempts to put in someone else by the RINO'S just shows they know Newt is going to win this.
But what I know of Mitt’s attacks is that they never ring true. I live in Florida. I have been flooded with Mitt Romney attacks for months. He is coming off as nothing but an attacker. In the mail today his super pac sent four giant mailers — one anti-Gingrich, one pro-Romney and two anti-Santorum. I’ve received many anti-Gingrich mailers over the last few months.
You see even with all the money, and all air time, we have nonstop Romney ads down here, people don’t believe him. No one else is sending any ads out just Romney and he’s still losing. What do you think will happen when the other people, like Newt, get into the game?
Mitt’s numbers have a low ceiling he can’t clear. People don’t like him and there does not appear to be anything he can do to make himself a more acceptable candidate. His past history is set. He can’t run from it. Mitt spent money like water last time (2008) and came in third. He’s spending money like water again and he may be fortunate to come in second. All his money, lies, and attempts to destroy other candidates cannot over come his slimy liberal past. Both he and his handlers are completely out of touch with the world.
Williams is an overeducated fool. He think of himself as an anchor . I perfer people like Bob Schieffer, even if I don’r like his political bias,. He just thinks of himself as a print reporter in an expensive suit.

Either no problem, because he didn't have much to lose in the first place; or it's a big problem because, being so small, it's going to difficult to find/locate.

I say bring it on. This guy will be another Rick Perry. Newt has been preparing for this campaign for 25 years. It shows in the debates and Townhalls. He’d have this wrapped up if the party elites were for him.

The same place the ‘groundswell’ was for john mccain. In his flippin’ head. kristol fancies hisself a kingmaker. I can’t stand him.
I think they are waiting for a personality donor so they can do the transplant.

Actually, Kristol makes Ann look manly. Every time that guy appears in public, I expect someone to be following him around with a giant sponge to soak up the estrogen overflow. Pusillanimous little fem.
I think he meant Jack Daniels. The establishment are drinking a lot more of it these days.
