AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and hes not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (thats Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! Americas anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A Real Man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander in Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to dothats host. Get ready to what you were born to dothats listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).
Thanks. :^)
Yes, I enjoyed the truck driver call very much.
He sounded totally genuine.
Basically, all we know is gossip and speculation.
However, I do believe that the whole ugly and sad situation has changed Brit Hume beyond recognition.
I don’t think he is as conservative as he once was and I think he believes that Newt was a party to what happened to Tony.
We’ll never really know at this point unless Paxon or someone involved decides to talk.
You can (if you want to spend a few hours!) do a post-in-forum search to see for yourself how for nearly 10 years I have been an ardent admirer and supporter of Rush. Furthermore, I expect very much that, God willing Rush and I retain our health and vitality, I will continue to admire and support Rush for many years to come, at least some of the time if not most.
On the other hand, it only takes few minutes of reading my posts and a few seconds of thought to understand that the words "hates Rush" and "venom to spew" apparently solely describe how you interpret disagreement with your own opinions.
As for "a fan thread," I guess I missed the FReeper memo that said comments must be complimentary of the talk show host who titles any live thread of the show.
And as for "not listening to Rush," I listened almost halfway through today, and turned it of FOR THE VERY REASON Rush would certainly respect. As he himself has often said, his rapid rise and success in the early '90s was due to the fact that at the time, NOBODY in the media anywhere was saying the things they were thinking. They tuned in to Rush, and WOW! Here was this guy espousing the same conservatism they believed, that their friends and family believed, and it was so refreshing to hear it when EVERY OTHER PLACE in the media, the talking heads were saying the opposite of what they believed.
Rush is an American Hero because he pioneered a whole new thing -- giving a voice for millions of conservative in America -- that was GOOD for America. They tuned in because he was saying pretty much the same thing they were thinking. He didn't lead them, he confirmed for them that they were not alone.
Lately, Rush has failed to confirm what I and most of my conservative friends and family are thinking -- that Romney is as much a traitor and fraud in the Republican party as Ron Paul, worthy of the same decided rejection.
You can call that "venom" and "hate" if you want, but that tells more about you than it does about my thoughts on Rush.
I don't buy the notion that Rush is intimidated by anyone. He's at the point where he's like mountains that are so big they make their own weather.
so am i
i don't care to research anything about what you posted in the past
the adults here are rationally weighing the candidates
you are making excuses for one candidates shortfalls and irrationally attacking anyone that dare examine noot’s
only a fool jumps to the conclusion that rush is in the tank for romney only because he dare question anything about noot
i hope you are in your teens and will someday not expect a perfect politician to save you - noot is flawed - we are examining it - get over it
like a foolish liberal, when confronted with noots flaws, you try to turn his flip flops into a virtue - and because noot was wrong, we should praise his change of heart
Well, one thing, I doubt that Rush is "in the tank" for Romney -- that would just go against everything the guy has not just said, but lived for in the past nearly 20 years I've been listening to him and reading his newsletters.
I like the analogy of the mountain making its own weather. But the human heart isn't like a mountain. It's vulnerable in the strangest ways and for the craziest reasons. Humankind has seen often enough the person, handsome/beautiful, wealthy, smart, talented -- everything going for him/her, who still felt wanting in some area or another.
The only explanation for Rush's reluctance to face-down a clear enemy of conservatism like Romney, is probably outside the purview of politics and originates from elsewhere. Maybe it is, as greyfoxx39 argues in post 255, a "follow the money" question. I'm still mulling that one. Or maybe it's as simple as Rush being awed by "superstar celebrities" of finance, such as the types that create and live in a Bain Capital world.
Rush is fast losing his grip and likely his audience. Folks are turning to Newt for inspiration because he’s a doer, not just a talker.
Bet Rush’s tea sales are tanking, too.
So sad, like sibling rivalry.
You’re right. Rush is no longer the rebel voice of the peeps like Newt is.
No wonder NBC isn’t even bothering to air tonight’s Florida debate in CA!
Well, at least in San Diego it’s not airing.
If Romney was polling better...
I think Rush is beyond money & being awed by the likes of ‘superstar celebrities of finance’ and to suggest those are his motives is pretty disrespectful of someone who has been a lifeline and beacon for conservatism over the years & he has truly been Rush Revere on the evils of liberalism. I believe Rush knows that a lot of people will follow his lead if he comes out for/against anyone specific. He articulates the Conservative position, then lets ‘the people’ make their choices, even if they make the wrong one. He does not play ‘Kingmaker’. While some certain people are unhappy when he doesn’t pick/choose, it it a far more noble (& non-egotistical) thing that he does by letting people make up their own minds.
Apparently the debate tonight will only be live-streamed...

“the debate will stream live on nbcpolitics.com and nationaljournal.com.”
Grammar correction: “If Romney WERE polling better...”
I cannot understand anyone here having a problem with Rand Paul, who is pretty much the embodiment of what this web site is about.
I, for one, am thankful that he is taking on the TSA and their blatantly unconstitutional actions.
Please don't mistake me. One of the things I REALLY admire about Rush -- and have written so on FR more than once -- is that he has never told us who to vote for. Rush respects us too much to make that kind of presumption. I LOVE THAT ABOUT HIM.
Instead, he tells us what to vote for: conservatism.
No matter how one looks at it, Romney is the antithesis of conservatism. All these years, Rush has, as you so rightly say, "been Rush Revere on the evils of liberalism." As far as I and many others are concerned, Romney IS one of those evils; we see it and have seen it for years, and we are perplexed: Why, this time, doesn't Rush see what we see?
Gingrich's criticism was clearly of how Romney engaged in capitalism, not capitalism itself, and Rush misrepresented Gingrich's intent. It pains me to say it, but it's what he did, and the MSM took Rush's hand-off and ran with it, to Romney's advantage.
Rush had no qualms in '07 and '08 about making it clear how low he thought McCain was. He's criticized Romney -- and Newt and Santorum, too, but not remotely the way he lambasted McCain. So I know he wouldn't be breaking any of his own rules or being inconsistent if he did the same with Romney.
Thanks for the link, b9.
Sounds good! Hope you told them about the sign waving greeting for Newt and the Newt Town Hall in Cocoa. They also might be interested in the Lincoln Day Dinner event being held in West Palm at the Kravis Center on Saturday evening. I know the media will be covering that event where Newt will speak as well as Allen West and others. That event is put on by the Republican Party of Palm Beach County.
Newt will be appearing tomorrow (Tuesday 1/24)in Sarasota at the Dolphin Aviation Center with over 3,000 expected. He speaks there at 1:45, and doors open at noon.
Then Wednesday morning Newt appears in Coral Springs at the Wings Plus on Sample Road. That event begins at 10:30AM but not sure what time Newt speaks. Then he goes from Coral Springs up to Cocoa for the 4:30 Town Hall at the Holiday Inn Express Space Center. See you Wednesday! :)
