Schmidt: GOP Establishment Will Have A Meltdown If Newt Wins Florida
RealClearPolitics ^

Posted on 01/21/2012 8:01:49 PM PST by VinL

Schmidt: "Not only are we not moving toward a coalescing of support with the establishment of Newt Gingrich, we're probably moving toward a declaration of war on Newt Gingrich by the Republican establishment. And if Newt Gingrich is able to win the Florida primary, you will see a panic and a meltdown of the Republican establishment that is beyond my ability to articulate in the English language. People will go crazy,"

And you will have this five week period until the Super Tuesday states that will be just as unpredictable, tumultuous as any period in modern American politics. It will be a remarkable thing to watch, should that happen in Florida."

Maddow: "Is there a component of that which is building a firewall around Mitt Romney, protecting him? We saw the establishment try to do that and Romney helping, saying “You can’t talk any smack about Bain. Bain is what I want to run on, it has to be positive, don’t undercut that at all.” Which to me, was like a flashing red neon arrow, “here’s my glass jaw, please don’t hit it.” Is there a way to protect Mitt Romney other than, I think, this wrong approach, Ithey’ve taken with Bain."

Schmidt: "I think everybody in the establishment Republican circles in Washington D.C. is fixated on the numbers we talked about earlier. Newt Gingrich has a 100% name ID, has a 60% national unfavorable number and it’s a number so high that with the 100% name ID it’s impossible to come back from. You’re not electable in a general election, in a 2012 presidential election if your unfavorable numbers are that high. Particularly against a president, that while vulnerable...

I hope Picks Sarah Palin to be on his cabinet after he's elected in November. That should drive Schmidt permanently insane.

Secretary of the Department of ENERGY would be a good fit, don't you think?

Now THAT is hilarious! A quick look at other posts I have made over the last couple of months would quickly dispel that insanity.

In Indiana if you have mailed your ballot in you can still change it if you go to your local county court house with proper ID.

Don’t know about FLorida, BUT if it’s the same,

maybe someone in Florida could make that information available to those who might want to change their vote.

When Cain and Bachmann bailed, Santorum was my next choice until he started spouting all his anti-freedom, limits to Constitutional rights BS. At that point, I decided on “None of the Above”.

Paul is a Kook-Nut
Romney is a Socialist of the kind that would make Ronald Reagan turn over in his grave.
Newt is a knee-jerk, GOP Establishment guy - put up as the anti-Romney candidate.
Santorum is a “Nice Guy”... but apparently thinks that our founding fathers were clueless - that they didn’t really mean “inalienable rights”...

I don't see anything on the Florida official election website that you can change your early vote once it's cast. However, it's best to make a phone call to find out one way or the other. The phone number is on the official website.

LOL, I have an urge for an Almond Joy Bar....

Seriously, we're going to have to get behind Newt, I have reservations but am hoping for the best.

I know we can not survive another 4 years of obama, if Newt can do it, he has my blessings and support.

G'night FRiend, I'm gone for the evening.

The article title has it wrong. “If” should be “when”

They don’t want Newt as top dog. In this way he is definitely like Churchill was in the 1930s. You know it was Labour who sided with Churchill, especially after Hitler invaded Russia. The Tory majority never trusted him. He was a pal of Lloyd George — a fellow who, BTW, reminds me a lot of Newt.

Since when is gay marriage a “fundamental right.”? Even the APA thought it a mental illness until 1973. No society in world history ever thought of such a thing until 40 years ago.
