Romney Stance On Dream Act Magnified In Florida By LAURA WIDES-MUNOZ

MIAMI (AP) — Mitt Romney's promise to veto a measure that would create a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants threatens to turn off some Hispanic voters. Their support could be critical in a general election match-up against President Barack Obama.

The issue is gaining prominence as the GOP front-runner heads toward the Florida primary, even though most of the state's Hispanics are Puerto Rican or Cuban-American and, thus, aren't affected by U.S. immigration law, nor view it as a priority.

Will previous early voting in Fl hurt Newt, since he only started to pick up momentum this week?

“Has anyone looked at RCP? It shows Obama will trounce Gingrich nationwide.”

Ya sure, and a couple days ago polls showed Mutt Romney winning SC by double digits.

Those old polls are meaningless.

*********************************************

Those numbers will change as soon as he becomes the front runner.

It always seems to work like that. The front runner always runs higher in the match up polls. When the front runner changes, so does the polls.

Hispanic is NOT a Synonym of “illegal”.

Here’s Newt Gingrich’s stance on illegal aliens...

“In three years and eight months, we defeated fascist Italy, Nazi Germany and imperial Japan. Today, we can’t build a (border) fence,” Gingrich said. “I would propose cutting off all federal funds to any city that declares itself a sanctuary city.”

He said that if UPS and FedEx could keep track of millions of packages a day, the federal government should be able to track illegal immigrants in the country.

But Gingrich added: “I don’t believe we’ll ever pass a bill which requires us to hunt down every single person” who has been in this country for some time illegally.

Gingrich also said he would favor a “very sophisticated, very clean” guest worker program.

“I think we should go back to the World War Two selective service model where local citizens are certified at a local level, where they actually know the person,” he said.

“If the person is a good citizen, has genuine ties to the United States, has genuine roots, they still don’t get amnesty, they still don’t get citizenship, they still don’t get the right to vote. They do get the legal right to be a resident.”

I doubt it. People who vote early know who they want. Undecided’s wait til voting day.

Maybe the illegals that got free healthcare in Mass are the ones voting for him.

Medical help for illegal immigrants could haunt Mitt Romney

If Jimmah (peanut) Kartah ran against ZERO, then ZERO would loose.
Polls right now are meaningless for the November general election.
Since Jimmah is the 2nd worst president EVER and ZERO the absolute Worst, No way ZERO is going to get reelected.
NO WAY JOSE. . . . . . . . .

This is where Newt loses me. It should NEVER be the policy of the United States to excuse those who have violated our laws. They didn't just commit one crime of entering the nation...they've committed years of crimes if they are working in this nation, have ever received any government assistance, etc. They must go back to their country of origin and get in line. I would not even offer them entry into a guest worker program until they returned to their home country and applied like everyone else waiting their turn.

Republicans are tired of mild mannered country club politicians who are no match for the street politician from Chicago. Newt vs. Obama debates (if they take place) will have fireworks for sure. The question is will it sway enough voters?

174,000 absentee ballots have been returned in Florida.

Plus 10,000 ballots at 5 county early voting sites.

Last election early voting was 14 days and it would have taken place this past week. It was changed to eight days for all counties except those five.

So you have 184,000 ballots returned out of 2 million. So about 9 percent have been returned.

If Florida had been like the last primary with 14 days you would have had more than 20 percent returned by now.

Hey, Folks,

Newt’s got this! SC + FL = Newt’s very very very likely our nom.

Azzurri: "They do get the legal right to be a resident"

The person you're talking about would have had to have been here when Reagan signed the Amnesty bill. They would most likely be grand-parents now.

There is NO politian (NOT even Santorum) who would send back the parents and grandparents of American born children so that the drama will be played out on the news.

Unfortunate, yes. But if we keep waiting and waiting for that perfect candidate the grandparents will be great-great grandparents or dead from old age.

No promises & no government benefits to immigrants

GINGRICH: [to Santorum]: We should make English the official language of government. We should insist that first-generation immigrants who come here learn American history in order to become citizens. We should also insist that American children learn American history. And then find a way to deal with folks who are already here, some of whom, frankly, have been here 25 years, are married with kids, live in our local neighborhood, go to our church. It's got to be done in a much more humane way than thinking that to automatically deport millions of people.

SANTORUM: My solution is very similar to Newt Gingrich's. We should not have a debate talking about how we don't want people to come to this country, but we want them to come here like my grandfather and my father came here. They made sacrifices. They came in the 1920s. There were no promises. There were no government benefits. They came because they wanted to be free and they wanted to be good law-abiding citizens. < / snip

So, how is it gaining prominence? The MSM has made immigration about hispanics and the stupid idiots like Bush, McCain, et al have all fallen victim to the scam.

If anyone thinks hispanics DON'T vote for liberals 3 to 1 they are blind and purposefully dumb.

The whole completely unconstitutional idea of semi citizens is more left wing crap coming from Gingrich. He knows it will never pass muster but he’s pushing it anyway knowing that they’ll get the whole shot despite breaking our laws.

Conservatives are selling their souls.
