Will Unions Occupy Super Bowl Over Right To Work?
IBD Editorials ^ | January 20, 2012

Big Labor: Indiana unions, opposed to becoming the first right-to-work state in the Rust Belt, may disrupt Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis. Their unnecessary roughness will cost the Hoosiers needed jobs.

On Friday, as the Indiana Senate was scheduled to take up legislation supported by Gov. Mitch Daniels to make Indiana the 23rd right-to-work state, Indiana unions considered copying the disruptive and coercive tactics of Occupy Wall Street to disrupt arguably America's premier sporting event, the Super Bowl, to be held in Indianapolis on Feb. 5.

As in Wisconsin, where embattled GOP Gov. Scott Walker faces a recall election over his effort to fight excessive union feeding at the public trough, and in South Carolina, a right-to-work state that fought the National Labor Relation Board's efforts to stop Boeing from expanding there, unions in Indiana are fighting to stop what they see as an encroachment on their power.

The Indiana Senate was waiting for the House to complete its work on the legislation but, in a tactic employed by Democratic state senators in Wisconsin, Democratic representatives in the Indiana House delayed action by simply not showing up.

In a further move to block enactment, Indiana Democrats sought to add an amendment that said the law would not take effect until approved by the voters in a state referendum.

I pray that the unions are stupid enough to try to disrupt the Super Bowl. Please try to do that.

Please.

The Indianapolis/Marion County cops have a well deserved reputation for being able to handle rowdy mobs and crowds. They do this for the Race (which usually has 2 or 3 big days each year), the State Fair, and a plethora of professional basketball, football, hockey and other games.

I suppose "Occupy........" might try something, but the cops have a well trained sniper team too ~ the Super Bowl is likely safe.

Just for some additional background, the sleazy head of the House Democrats, Pat Bauer insists that this issue be put to a referendum. However, the non-partisan Legislative Services Agency has issued the opinion that a referendum is unconstitutional under the Indiana Constitution. But Bauer insists that the Republicans ignore the Constitution and have the referendum. Imagine that; a democrat ignoring the Constitution.

A union effort to disrupt the Superbowl would be hilarious.

The Superbowl has been the premier defensive target against terrorism since at least the movie Black Sunday (1977). The best description of their level of security is “Superparanoid”.

I can imagine about a hundred unionists forced onto buses and taken to a National Guard armory, where they would be stripped and have to stand around naked for the duration of the game. Prior to being arrested.

Maybe the Union thugs could dress up, interrupt the broadcast and act out “Heidi” during the end of the game? Maybe get Joe Namath to do a cameo appearance?

That would do them in at last, I think.

There already is considerable security at Superbowl. If the feds and state cops think there is a tiny possibility of a disruption, they will have National Guard with tanks, Silent Guardian, drones, sensors on dirigibles, and who knows what all waiting.

They already deploy rad sensors, chemical sniffers, advanced video surveillance (it’s a great oppourtunity to show off your tech gear, and if a company like BAE, Northrop Grumman, or L3 offers to come and set stuff up, the security guys frequently say yes).

But an angry mob will be met with a highly trained armed mob (unless FedGov WANTS a big disturnance....but that would cost the SB people big bux)

Not all cops are union goons. Some of them would love the chance to get something to shoot besides dogs.

The amount of money bet on this single game could send every single American child to Harvard for four years plus graduate school. If these meatballs are stupid enough to mess with that, every single union goon of a boss who had anything to do with this is going to be found in the trunk of a Cadillac Fleetwood in the long-term parking lot at JFK. wrapped in duct-tape with three.22 slugs in the head.

with three.22 slugs in the head.

You should aim for a vital organ, not their brain.

No, the real benefit to the cops would be if the union folk would have dogs, no, seeing eye dogs to be specific.

That would be a true wet dream fantasy for LEO's everywhere.

The Super Bowl is an event that is broadcast to the WORLD.

Allowing any kind of disruption by ANY faction, union or otherwise, will NOT be tolerated or broadcast.
