What can we, as a community, do so support Newt?

Posted on 01/20/2012 10:13:07 AM PST by Raebie

What can we do in an organized fashion?

Fundraisers, social media, volunteerism? I know we can sign up as individuals on his site, but what can we do as a community? There is strength in numbers and together we are a powerful voice.

Thoughts?

I am supporting Newt by making contributions to his campaign. When the primaries come to California I will support him with yard signs and stickers on my car. GO NEWT GO!

Everyone in Virginia that isn’t a Mitt supporter will be supporting Newt if they vote in the VA primary. That’s what I’ll do...Paul/primary and whoever/election.

You're making a giant unwarranted assumption that Neut is who we want to support. Some of us support Santorum. Some Support Ron Paul. I suppose a few even support Mittens. I personally despise both Neut and Mittens equally. Both are to the left of McCain and I thought he was a poor choice the last time around. I would have supported Perry despite his record of Hispandering, but he took his ball and went home.

We need a Free Republic ‘mini-PAC’. We have a lot of talent here. Maybe a coordinated campaign to write opinion pieces, produce videos, conduct interviews in the media.

Things individuals can’t do on their own. The fact that Jim’s endorsement was printed in the media is a testimony to the fact that the clout exists.

It might have been ‘unwarranted’ if Jim hadn’t endorsed him yesterday.

Now it’s warranted.

This is an e-mail I received after offering to help:

Hi Mr. XXXXX, Thanks so much for your offer of help - we greatly appreciate your support! And most of all, thank you for your service, sir. People like you are my heroes!

I am encouraging everyone to help get Newt elected in their state if you have the time and interest. Here are the different options on how to get involved:

1. Sign up at www.newtsnetwork.com - this is the official grassroots campaign site where folks can start to organize by their respective state and get in touch with state directors.

2. We need as many upbeat, positive phone calls into SC telling folks why you are "with Newt!" as possibly between now and Saturday. You can access the call feature in newtsnetwork.com by clicking on "Make the Call".

3. Sign up at www.newt.org/volunteer to get on our volunteer email list serv 4. Post positive articles & videos that you see online of the Speaker on social media sites that you frequent (i.e. Facebook, Google+, Twitter, etc)

5. Write an opinion piece to your local paper outlining why you are "with Newt!" It doesn't have to be long - one strong, positive idea that shows his solutions will go a long way.

6. Go to Newt's Store at www.newtstore2012.com and order yard signs, bumper stickers, 21st Century Contract with America pamphlets, etc to help get the word out.

Any of these options are both helpful to the campaign and effective! Again, thanks very much and let me know if you have any questions!

In Freedom, Erin with Newt 2012 www.newt.org

With all of the crazy issues I have with Paultards, one can learn about their online organizing. One key thing is to never let an article go by on a major website that doesn’t have some ‘ra ra’ comments or debunks myths. Get some key points of Newt’s successes (some of Jim’s posts have these) and include those.

However, don’t do like Paultards and pretend your candidate is perfect, a god, or anything like that. Don’t annoy posters. Don’t spam the same comment over and over. Don’t make grandiose statements like ‘if you don’t like Newt you eat babies’, etc.

The key is to keep on top of all web media and help steer it positive. Don’t think for a moment this doesn’t help. Repetition of message is important as well as ensuring positive comments rise to the top of various searches.

This kind of action also unifies people. If someone feels like they are a loner supporting someone, they will shy away. If they feel like they are part of a big movement, they will join.

donate $10, $25 or whatever your heart tells you.

Right now he needs cash on hand to demonstrate broad support and get more loot from bigger donors and bundlers.

Both are to the left of McCain

Newt's to the left of McCain? That is ridiculous.

Jim runs the site. He doesn't make everyone's mind up for them, and he doesn't speak for everyone who posts here.

Contact your local County Republican HQ and find out who the Newt point of contact is.
If they game you, be insistent.
Ask for the Romney POC, then ask why they don’t have the same info for Newt.
Meanwhile, send money directly to the Newt campaign so they can be effective in upcoming primaries.

The best thing we can do to support Newt is to completely lay to rest the idea that Newt can't win because he has too much baggage. I've lost track of the number of times I've heard variations of the theme, “I really like Newt Gingrich and I would normally support him but he's damaged goods and he has too much baggage to win an election.”

The truth is, the only baggage Newt has is entirely a fictional product of the establishment Republicans who feel threatened by him and fear to lose their cushy leadership positions withing the party to some of their more conservative colleagues. They invented this so called “baggage” as a way of convicing conservative voters to follow the “safe path” and support moderate candidates who (according to them) are the only ones who can attract enough independent voters to win a general election.

So look where we're at now. Newt is leading the field by taking on Obama and taking on biased journalists as well, going over the heads of the media and giving his message directly to grassroots conservatives. This has convinced many that the idea of “damaged goods” is just a fiction and there is nothing to stop Newt from taking on Obama and beating him in a head to head fight over ideas and the direction the country will take over the next four years.

The only thing standing in the way of that is people who still haven't got the message that the damaged goods and the baggage concepts were bogus from the start. Make sure everyone on our side does get the message. Maybe some will support another candidate than Newt - and that's fine. But nobody who likes Newt's ideas should be hoodwinked (by the Republican establishment as well as Democrats) into believing he doesn't have a great chance of beating Obama.
