An ex-wife of Newt Gingrich told ABC News’s “Nightline” that the Republican presidential candidate wanted an “open marriage.”
In a published clip of Brian Ross’s interview with Marianne Gingrich, which will air tonight, Marianne Gingrich said her husband wanted her to accept the fact that he had a mistress. “He was asking to have an open marriage and I refused,” she said.
Marianne Gingrich said Newt Gingrich admitted to his six-year affair with Callista, a congressional aide who is now married to the candidate. Newt Gingrich allegedly said Callista “doesn’t care what I do.”
Asked for her response, Marianne Gingrich said she responded, “No, that is not a marriage.”
According to ABC News, Marianne Gingrich will say her husband does not have the moral character to be president. She will express her shock at learning that her husband conducted his affair with Callista “in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington.”

I just heard on the news that Obama said being Presiden takes away time from being a dad. Well, at least BHO is faithful to his family. You want to put Newt up against that?
At least he didn’t cheat on his wives with just any old Tom, Dick, Larry or Reggie.

Did Dobson think Carter was a great president? He had a wonderful marriage. And has Dobson looked at the past of Santorums wife?? Spending her 20s with an abortionist 40 years older than her (who also delivered her at birth)
Or is it only possible to be forgiven for errors that occur -above- the Mason-Dixon line?
Go cheat on your loved one if character doesn’t matter.

The bitter ex has put out this same shtick for years now. He has his responses, if any down by now.
It goes with divorce.
This woman is getting money from the democrats..Also isn’t Marianne Gingrich the one that was with Newt when his first wife lay dying..
Without hesitation. Obama is destroying this country.

The only thing more bitter than Newt’s ex-wife are the bitter Newt supporters, who bought the “smartest guy in the room meme” and who should have been able to see this sort of thing a mile away. Do you really think that if he weathers this that there won’t be women showing up making charges against him just like Cain?
No, Newt was never the right candidate - for this, and many other reasons. There were plenty of people saying this. and you Neuters still won’t listen.
I suggest that if you still support Newt, you try to refrain from the “bitter ex-wife” argument. It’s not a winner, politically.
So what now?
I dunno, a lot of FReepers seem to be falling for it.
How can you trust a human being? There is none righteous. No, not one.
Does anyone doubt that Newt has asked for, and been granted, the forgiveness of God? Christianity gives us many Saints and Biblical figures who have MUCH WORSE than anything Gingrich is accused of doing.
King David is described as a “Man after God's own heart” for instance -— and he made sure a troublesome husband died so he could have the wife for himself!
Dobson is a HORRIBLE political strategist and a bit of an egomaniac. He is often wrong.
We are NOT picking who gets into Heaven, we are trying to keep our country from going to HELL!
YEAH...just WHAT is the “moral character requirement?” Democrats....please answer that question.
That move by Newt was painful to watch. None of the Republican presidential candidates will get my vote.
Technically, it sounds like he asked his wife for permission to have a mistress, which is not what most people understand to be an “open marriage”. Open Marriage is what Kennedy, Clinton, etc had, where they can just screw around whenever they want with whomever they want...
Not justifying, but words have meanings.

I remember when FR started and everyone was talking about character when it came to Bill Clinton, etc... all of that is forgotten now...bizarre and majorly hypocritical - JUST LIKE NEWT.
You want a President who is faithful to his wife, vote for Jimmy Carter.
Good. Get it ALL out there NOW. Better a January surprise than an October surprise. And if Newt becomes our candidate, then President Food Stamp won’t be able to blindside him with this.

She’s made these same allegations repeatedly. There is nothing new here, except Romney is about to be clobbered.
