An InsiderAdvantage poll conducted Wednesday night has former House Speaker Newt Gingrich now leading the Republican primary race in South Carolina.
The poll of likely Republican primary voters has Gingrich with 32 percent, ahead of Mitt Romney who trailed close behind at 29 percent.
The results are a significant reversal for Romney, who had led polls before Tuesday's Fox News debate. A poll conducted by InsiderAdvantage last Sunday showed Romney with a double-digit lead over Gingrich.
The InsiderAdvantage poll is the first major South Carolina survey after the debate. Gingrich has been crediting with winning the debate.
The poll found that support for Ron Paul and Rick Santorum is faltering, with both pulling 15 and 11 percent, respectively.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry finished last with just 3 percent of the vote. Three percent of those polled selected "other candidate" and 7 percent said they had no opinion.
The survey polled 718 registered Republican voters.

“Romney wins”...ya that worked for him in Iowa, didn’t it? Nope!
Its a poll of Republicans, not conservatives. Betcha they love Lindsey Graham too, since they keep electing him...
It is easy for a politician to pull the wool over your eyes if your not watching him or her. They run as a conservative get elected then vote as a moderate. When election comes up they move to the right again then win the election cause the voter thinks they are a conservative.. If the voters are not keeping them honest!
Yes he does. Gingrich admitted as much to Hannity after the last debate.
The rest seem at unease on stage, answering difficult questions. Gingrich addresses them, and can swat off guys like Chris Wallace and Juan Williams like flies.

Newt is now what he always has been, a lying politician with desire to say anything and do whatever it takes to feed his ambition regardless of the tramps who get screwed along the way.
I suggest you refrain.
Not only delusional, but you think like a democrat:
Hey Onyx, you must have seen my GOP cartoons.
.
.
He was the Speaker of the House, #2 in line to the Presidency. He ran the Congress. He was the leader of the party and the top conservative/Republican on the natl scene for a few years. He was the architect of the 94 victory and it was largely his own personal doing.
You cant just compare him to some normal Congressman.
Don't confuse and interrupt Ben Star Wars with facts. He's never read the debate's transcripts.
So What? 99.9999999% of all politicians at the national level are a bunch of horny money whores and nothing would surprise me about any of them.
The fact that other candidates and LSM use selected juicy “news” to whack one down, while hiding stuff about others means they are just manipulating to get what they want.
Well I don't give 2 hoots and a holler. As soon as the anointed one spoke at the Dems convention, I checked his record. I knew he was an obomanation, and I would never vote for him, and try to make sure all my friends did not fall for his silver-tongued platitudes.
I know Newt's record. I liked the contract with America and the economic results during those years. I like the plans he's outlined. I especially like what he said about the judges, and I am looking forward to debates where there is finally and articulate candidate who can take it to Obama and the media.
I can't stand slimey mittens, I don't particularly like Santorum, and Perry has not been able to gain traction, and Ron Paul is a no go. So Newt's the man, and tramps be damned.
I believe this was the same poll where last week Perry had jumped to nine percent.
So much for the only poll that showed any kind of movement for Perry. It looks like if Perry won't take himself out of the race, voters will do it for him.
Has the MSM said anything at all?
Plus, it’s old news, commonly known for decades.
Interesting article about Newt and the Republican party in GA.

This morning Fox just announced that Santorum beat Romney in Iowa BUT they said it was a tie because certain districts could never be counted.
OK, if that is true why did they claim Romney was the winner with eight votes when the same facts existed when they said that?
I really like Santorum, but this race is all about stopping Romney. I like Newt too and, if he can stop Romney, then God speed to him.
The GOP could do worse than a Newt-Santorum or Newt-Palin ticket.
Contrast this with Romney who left the Massachusetts GOP in a smoldering heap.
