GOP Debate
(Excerpt) Read more at live.foxnews.com ...
This was the best debate of the season I can remember seeing so far. The more candidates that get voted off the island, the better it gets. The lack of John Huntsman really helped stop the momentum from grinding to a halt every time he spoke. If only we could get Romney out of the next one and leave just the interesting candidates in.
As usual the question in this debate format is not whether Newt will win, but by how much he will win. I thought he won this one by a larger margin than any in the past month or so. His best answer was on how to deal with America’s enemies...kill them. He soared whenever he merged political incorrectness with basic correctness. Neither his heart nor his mind seemed to be very interested in attacking Romney, which made for his low point. The Wall Street Journal questioner asked Romney exactly the right question which got to the heart of how Romney looted companies for cash, although he phrased a clearly serious accusation in the most softball way that was possible.
Perry continues to improve and look more polished with each one, but the part-time Congress stuff makes it hard for me to take him seriously. He continues to sound like he’s trying to promote Texas as a state more than promote himself as a candidate. I thought Santorum won the Huckabee forum on Saturday, but his inconsistency reared its ugly head again here. His tone and timing was way off and he came off sounding like a career politician throughout, not a person.
Paul helpfully demonstrated the complete naive, mindless idiocy of the libertarian political viewpoint with his 0% tax and his foreign policy answers. Most likely his poll numbers will remain steady though since his supporters are the dumbest, most mentally deficient, semi-retarded, unthinking, clueless, fanatical, mush-for-brains cultists to ever find their way into a voting booth.
The tax question looked like an outtake from The Price is Right. The winner was the one who guessed closest to the correct tax rate without going over. This is the moment most likely to be parodied on the late-night talk shows.
I think FOX News sees value in keeping the “horse race” going for continued ratings, so they finally decided to get a little tougher on Romney. It’s hard to imagine that Juan Williams didn’t know he was throwing a softball made of red meat to Newt on the racism question, but nevertheless Newt gets credit for taking the opportunity to hit a grand slam.
I can’t believe how badly Romney bombed on the tax return question. Could he have qualified his answer any more? Maybe, probably, thinking it over, looking into it, it’s possible, ask me again in the spring. Can’t people put it together that this guy has a lot to hide in his business career? When you dodge the questions about how you ran your business and whether you’ll release your tax returns back-to-back, there appears to be a very clear “trust deficit.”
Bizarrely, one or two of the pinheaded FOX hosts after the debate appeared to give Romney “credit” for “making news” by saying he’d release his tax returns. Of course he said absolutely nothing of the kind. He said he’ll “probably” release them which is about as non-committal as it gets. Did those reporters actually go to journalism school or is FOX just requiring a “charm school” degree at this point?
Well, they bombed our embassies and attacked our ships and then attacked us on our own soil, what are you going to do.
Juan Williams is intellectually honest which is a rare quality in a journalist today. I often disagree with him but he will give you an honest argument.
kill them and leave. Tell the rest don’t do that again or we will be back.
Judging by Romney’s record in Taxachusetts, he is the enemy within, so I wouldn’t expect him to confront them. Appoint them to cabinet positions and the courts, yes, but not confront them.
The best thing about the debate was the babe from the Wall Street journal, very attractive women. Fox sucks at debates, not as bad as ABC sucks, ABC sets the standard on sucks.
One of the dumbest things Paul said was that the Taliban hates having foreigners in the country. HELLO, RUPAUL, ANYBODY HOME? Bin Laden and Al Queda WERE foreigners to Afghanistan and they were welcomed with open arms. I was hoping Newt would interrupt at that point and explain the significance of the worldwide Islamic cabal.
Brett going on and on about the “bell” was embarrassing. I think the moderator who handled things the best was surprisingly David Gregory on MSNBC. No stupid bells or blinking lights, he simply asserted himself and told the candidates he was moving on when they used up their time. The direct approach works a lot better than the gimmicks.
“HE MAKES ME BELIEVE IN AMERICA AGAIN!!!”
He does, doesn’t he. And political strategists and analysts all agree that any candidate who can inspire that kind of exciting feeling in people will always win an election.
I don’t like all the got ya questions, I am still waiting to hear a question about 15.3 trillion in debt and what to do about that! These debates are a joke when our biggest threat is our debt and no body wants to ask about that.
As far as I can tell from what Newt’s said, his only serious contenders for V.P. are Susanna Martinez and, after Iowa happened, Rick Santorum. I think Newt is as big on courting the Hispanic vote as any Republican so I think he’d be really inclined to pick Martinez or Rubio as his V.P. if he felt like they’d be up to the job.
“kill them and leave. Tell the rest dont do that again or we will be back.”
Yes, no problem. I need the governments over there to stop fomenting/funding/protecting the militants as well. I don’t want to wait until say 3100 are killed, then say well, the 12 hijackers are already dead, I’ll just kill the one mastermind and ignore those who aided and abetted. 13 for 3100 is no deterrent, at that rate our nation would be gone in a decade.
And it’s not as though we are ASSUMING that is the Islamic intention, they are quite clear about the whole thing.
I don’t care what their government does or says as long as they are not killing Americans. If the government is responsible for killing Americans kill the government, kill everyone in the government and leave, tell them pick a better government next time or we will be back.
The Romans knew how to handle problems like this, they killed EVERYONE, then they broke every brick and salted the ground. Problem solved.
I was interested all throughout. I applauded a lot.
I would pay to see Newt and Obama debate.
Someone was saying on another thread that Ann Coulter was sending messages negative from Twitter of Newt. Newt was great. She is way off base. What is with her?
Thank you for the iinfo. BookMark.
May god guide our course.

I hope Newt and Mitt are sincere in their newfound “righteousness”—but then as you say,who am I to judge.
With Santorum you can be sure.
The first amendment you cited actually raised the bar (i.e. made it harder) for illegals to collect Social Security. Santorum voted in favor of this.
The second amendment took money away from states that was set aside for those states to deal with the immigration problem. Santorum voted against depleting the states of those funds.
Did you ever considering checking out these sources yourself instead of copying and pasting someone else's post and end up looking like a complete fool? Or was your deception intentional?
At the cost of putting a moderate in the White House, or even worse, putting Obama back in the White House? No.
