SANTORUM 6.38% (2,855 votes)
He has good influences at home ;o) - he lovely wife (they evidently have a very good marriage) is a conservative republican and his son is active in republican politics.
I like that almost better than "ROMNEYCIDE"! {^)
Juan Williams might turn out to be a “late bloomer”
I have some friends on the left and can debate politics with them in a respectful manner.
OTOH, most of the libs at work will immediately resort to the usual name-calling, false arguments, personal attacks, “Nazi” references and the childish behavior that about 90% of libs resort to when you corner them with facts and even worse, use their own words to defeat their own argument.
That really ticks them off and that’s when the name-calling starts and the debate ends.
I grew up in San Francisco and have lived in or near SF my entire life and know their “debate” tactics better than they do, and can almost predict what they will say and when and at what point they will detonate.
That was some fall for Gingrich; 22 points.
GINGRICH 30.81% (14,054 votes)
PAUL 37.15% (16,945 votes)
PERRY 4.05% (1,849 votes)
ROMNEY 21.62% (9,862 votes)
SANTORUM 6.36% (2,901 votes)
Total Votes: 45,611
Let South Carolina and the Nation wake up to see our guy leading after the Monday Night debate!!!!!!
Dropping slightly. Ugh!!

PAUL 37.2% (17,073 votes)
PERRY 4.06% (1,863 votes)
ROMNEY 21.61% (9,917 votes)
SANTORUM 6.35% (2,913 votes)
Total Votes: 45,901
I agree.
You know what would really be fun to watch? Newt vs. Hillary, and the Dems could still (though I suppose it's unlikely) pull the rug out(like they did in 2008) and nominate who we least expect, ala Hillary, but I think Newt would not only cream Hillary, he'd make her catch fire and blow up. I think a lot of Americans, both left and right, would have popcorn ready for that debate.
On the other hand, picture Hillary debating Santorum or Romney or Perry. She'd steamroll them if only because of her sex -- the gentlemen would be intimidated and disarmed. I think Newt would say, "to hell with 'gentleman,' this is politics" and provoke Hillary to self-destruct, hopefully on national TV, which would be a beautiful sight to behold. Hey ... I can dream, can't I?
“How in the world does one reduce the demand for drugs?”
By supporting public policies that support the nuclear family.
Because people raised by their own mom and dad throughout their childhood do not abuse drugs nearly as often as those who were raised by single moms, temporary dads, foster care, or etc.
No knock on those doing the best they can with their situation. However, nothing can beat being raised by your own mom and dad assuming they are not severely negligent or abusive.
So, end welfare, return local control to schools, have a good tax policy for families, etc., promote abstinence as public health policy, stop the homo agenda, etc.
“Newt and Romney did the best.”
You’re joking! I saw some of that old rattled Romney from ‘08 - he hemmed and hawed and got flustered a couple of times. And that’s only a fraction of how lost he’d get when going head to head with The Wan. It’d be brutal, it’d be ugly. And it’d be wimpy. Mittens doesn’t show well when not doing well-rehearsed, short sound bites.
Oh Lynne, hope you post your live from the debate take before you get skewed by all of our opinions.
“Up until the Bushes redefined the GOP in to a party of a big government police state that needs to police the world.”
Some of us have noticed that many portions of the world are interested in killing us off.
I'm with you.
Rush's success was due to the fact that for once, a guy was on the radio saying the same things we've been saying for years! And we thought we were alone, and here's this eloquent, funny, vibrant guy who's echoing our own thoughts, my own thoughts! And the sentiments of a lot of my conservative family and friends, but nobody anywhere else on the radio or in the media has been saying them!
Rush's value is not, and has never been, in leading, but in CONFIRMING.
He's failing to confirm some pretty important stuff for ME right now, so ... more and more my limited listening opportunities go to other talkers who DO confirm my own common sense. When my thoughs are confirmed by the likes of Thomas Sowell, then I really feel good. Thomas Sowell has stated flat-out that between Gingrich and Romney, OBVIOUSLY Gingrich is the way to go.
That's what I think, it's what a lot of us think, and it's what in my opinion the most sage conservative philosopher alive today, Thomas Sowell, thinks. Why Rush doesn't have the guts to STATE THE OBVIOUS, as Sowell has done ... means that Rush is now reflecting a differnt group than me and mine. For what it's worth.
As good ol' Rush says, "It is what it is."
Williams may be a liberal sap, but he's an honorable liberal sap.
Honor is more important than politics. There are such things as conservatives and Republicans, personally known to me, acquaintances, who will vote the same as me, but who I know to lack honor. In my opinion, Britt Hume conducted himself in a way to show he lacked honor; Juan, though a liberal, has always been true to his own honor, and while "honorable liberal" is an oxymoron if only because of the self deception liberals have to practice, Juan proves the old addage that there are exceptions to every rule.
I don’t like a progressive tax either that is why you go for Newt who wants a flat rate 10% Now deductions everyone pays!
Best thing to do is get rid of the income tax and the IRS. When no future Congress can change the rates because there is no income tax. :)
“Romney got nothin but softballs, and still didnt handle them as well.”
Truly. And that’s only a glimmer of how disastrous he’d be in facing BHO. He’s FAR too wimpy and PC. He’d get NO softballs there - in fact, it’d be a bloodbath. Mittens might even make McLame seem assertive by comparison.
I long for the days when we as a nation minded are own business and just tried to sell everyone a Coco Cola or a Ford convertible. I kinda liked it when I didn’t even know Iraq was a country.
oops our own not are own
Yes, we can’t send in the second team - there is too much at stake. We need someone who can confront that whole liberal ideology, call it what it is, and articulate a better solution.
Despite Romney’s other issues, and of course he isn’t popular among conservatives, I just don’t see him confronting the enemies within the way Newt does.
