Decorated military veteran and best-selling author Oliver North tells Newsmax that, with the recently announced cuts to the U.S. military, the Obama regime is looking like the Jimmy Carter administration on steroids.
North also asserts that President Obamas efforts to deal with the growing Iranian threat have been an abysmal failure and warns that Israel will not sit idly by and wait to be incinerated by Iranian nuclear weapons.
North served in the U.S. Marines for 22 years and rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He also served on the staff of the National Security Council during the Ronald Reagan administration.
North now hosts War Stories with Oliver North on the Fox News Channel and is the founder of the Freedom Alliance foundation.
In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, North assesses the Iranian threat and the effectiveness of the sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies.
Clearly the sanctions have not yet worked, he declares.

Asked which of the Republican presidential candidates would be best suited for dealing with the Middle East, North responds: My candidate of preference is ABO anybody but Obama. And I believe any one of them would do a better job than the current commander in chief.
But Im a close friend of Newt Gingrich. He certainly has a better grasp of the history of the region and our national security needs than any of the other contestants, and certainly far more than the incumbent.
WooHOO! GO Newt. I love Olly, thanks for posting his columnss.

It is ironic that Oliver North thinks Obama is not tough enough on Iran. How would Ollie handle the Iran situation? Sell arms to Iran? Ooops...he did that.
Iran-Contra was a disastrous policy that weakened America. I am sure that President Reagan told the truth, when he said that his administration officials kept him in the dark, on Iran-Contra. Bush41 and Ollie were the key players, in Iran-Contra.

Explain.
America took a tough line on Iran in public during the 1980s, but was selling arms to them in secret. That action harmed America’s reputation internationally. European nations that were trading with Iran, denounced America for hypocrisy, because America was telling them to cut off their trade with Iran. Bush41 and Oliver North were the key players in Iran-Contra.

We were also helping Iraq, with the hope that both nations would bleed each other dry.....and the Contras should have been helped.

Iran Contra is a wet dream of the left that gets their rocks off.The Boland amendment was a tool of the hippie Marxist left.It was all for show.
Clandestine foreign operations, especially in the cold war, were nasty.Who cares if Iran and Iraq beat the pulp out of each other!Selling arms is nice compared to what I would do to hostage takers. The Soviets of the 80's had it right.I am sure such operations were the tip of the iceberg.Communism in our hemisphere is not to be tolerated.(I do not want to talk about Cuba).Realpolitik is uncomfortable to some. This is old news and has been settled.Ag. Meese handled it just fine. The penalty for North is what it is.I do not question Oliver Norths patriotism then or now.Screw the democrats who saw anything to discredit Reagan. We helped anti-communists and freed hostages.(American Mideast policy then and now can be debatable.)The hearings were an embarrassment and I am glad Ltc.Oliver North gave them the middle finger! Now if you want to talk about high crimes look no further than the occupant of the White House who is blind to Iran.

No one on the planet would have stood in our way when we had the chance to pursue Bin Laden. And destroy the apparatus publicly fronting his crap.
The Pakis would have gotten over it. Then.
Yeah, sure, Obama the moslem is making it worse.
He should have never had the chance.
People decry the loss of life and treasure so far.
Ok. Enough sensibility.
NOW begins my 100,000 word rant...

The Soviets of the 80's had it right.Yes they did.
Anyone out there know what their invasion of F ghanistan cost them?
To: bigheadfred
That is not what I meant. In the mideast, kidnappings were a huge problem.US and other countries negotiated and dealt to get their people out.Part of Iran Contra was such a deal.
The Soviets were not immune to kidnappings. They usually dealt with it with an iron fist.KGB and other operators would pay a visit to kidnappers and eliminate them and or family members in creative ways. They called it “tit for tat”.US was too civilized by Democrat standards to do what had to be done.Such congressional grandstanding such as the Boland amendment and Church committee neutered us.9/11 should not have been a surprise.God help us if we get Ron Paul or have the muslim in chief for four more years.
