Just heard this on Fox. Furthermore, Gingrich is going to make a major speech at 9am today. Per R.C. Hammond, Gingrich Spokesman, "Bottom line is youre going to see the most authentic candidate who has run for president who is not worried about what the consequences will be put forth the truth as people see it in their lives every day."

I hope Perry (and Perry would be my choice if I were the kingmaker) and either Santorum or Gingrich drop out. At this point, I would go as far as Ron Paul to stop Romney. It is already borderline over and if Romney gets the win in SC, it is certainly over. I know polls show Newt withing striking distance in SC, but Mitt is sure to get a bump from last night’s win and the media coverage plus all the pundits saying it is over. I would say Mitt’s true lead in SC, by the time this weekend gets here, will be around 20 points. Sorry, but 10 days isn’t enough time to overcome that, especially when swimming upstream against the media and Romney’s superPAC. The only road to defeating Romney is narrowing the field to one conservative.

..even though we are Santorum supporters here, and I expected the attacks on Newt by the establishment GOP, but I can't understand Rush and others simplistically going after him for "attacking capitalism"

Maybe I have the history wrong, but didn't somebody else very famous go after the dark side of unfettered capitalism and robber barons--someone named Theodore Roosevelt?

If Gingrich were to do this I would regain some respect for the man. If he’s the visionary some say he is, it should be clear conservatives, independents and a significant number of Pubbies want a clear choice this time around. Perhaps even a new face. Afterall, Gingrich and Paul are part of the political elite who, by what they did or did not do, facilitated the usurping of the WH by a Marxist.

I think endorsing Santorum would ultimately enshrine Gingrich as a true statesman.

As for Perry and Huntsman—it’s time they left the stage as well. America needs a clear choice and an opportunity to rally around that choice. Coalescing around Santorum will leave the national GOP no choice but to accept Santorum—thus reassuming the mantle of an opposition party to the demrat party—or be absorbed by the Demrat Party.

A nice gesture. But Santorum is the least likely to win the general of the 3 (Perry, Gingrich, Santorum). I truly believe independents will like Gingrich and Perry more.

Seriously, the way things seem headed Santorum, Gingrich, and Perry will all have to drop out after SC. There will be no viable path for any of them. People in SC just ratify what NH does; they do it often, but not in 1996, when they demanded Dole.

I don’t think so. Newt Gingrich is not planning on dropping out unless he zeroes in SC. It would be a far better plan for him and Rick Santorum to team up with Rick for VP as Rick has no chance of winning the nomination.

Don’t give up Newt!

(Although Gingrich/Santorum or Santorum/Gingrich would be just fine with me.)

I am seriously wondering how these votes would turn out if all these primaries were closed.

The conversation here would probably be a whole lot different than it is now.

Gingrich/Santorum or Santorum/Gingrich - either is the winning solution that will beat Obama. RINO Romney won't beat Obama, we should have learned that with RINO McCain.

One of them needs to endorse and campaign for the other. Whomever drops out first. Perry too.

Let’s face it. The only viable non-Romney candidate left is Ron Paul. Just reading this thread points out the obvious problems with both Gingrich and Santorum as far as winning the general election. Imagine both Santorum and Gingrich pulling out and endorsing Ron Paul. You would guarantee Paul’s victory over Mitt. Recent polls also show Paul neck and neck with Obama in the genera. Done deal with Ron Paul.

I pray our nominee is Santorum or Gingrich. If this is accurate from Gingrich it proves he puts country first and he understands the dire seriousness of no Obama or Romney. This is honor and character.

A Quinniapac poll shows Santorum and Obama in a statisical tie in Florida, and as we all know FL is a swing state. By the time the General Election comes around, and Santorum gets even more name recognition, I believe Santorum would win against Obama by a landslide.
