Why do liberals in New Hampshire get to decide who is our nominee?
I'm with either Newt or Santorum at this point. But guess what I'm in Illinois and I don't get to vote until March!!!
I hope the Admins don't delete this but I sadly presume we are going to have a repeat of 2008 and instead of McLame we are going to get Romney as our nominee.
So you get to vote for a communist vs. a communist....
I pray and will pray endlessly that Newt or Rick can pull out victories in SC and FL.
Hell no. National primary - bad idea.
nah - a national primary will just prevent anyone without gobs and gobs of money from even considering a run - which is part of the political problem we have today with DC.
Now I would be open to regional primaries of say 6-10 states over a timeframe of 3 months. Say South, Midwest, NE, Plains, MT, West - this would limit the money issue by allowing for regional travel in the buildup. But then there is that whole pesky states right issue.
I do think that there should be states other than just NH and Iowa going first - I feel it should at a minimum be a rotation of states in more than 1 or 2 regions. For example lets say one year California was the first state ( i know just give me a second)... if the result was the most liberal candidate would any conservative care - maybe not because they knew cali was more a liberal state (I don’t know if you can cross in cali) and that there are 49 more to go. However, if it was Texas or Indiana it may be a really big deal.
Am I happy with the way things are right now - no, but it is the hand dealt and we have to work with it... so - here’s the thing the way the delegates are decided this year NOTHING is determined until past the midpoint because until then not enough delegates have been handed out. I’m sure a few more might drop after SC/FL then the real race will start.
Hi good buddy!
We need closed GOP primaries.
Closed to only Republican voters. Not open to Independents and register at the door on election day.
My oft mentioned idea is for a national primary with an instant runoff ballot. You could even split it up by state and do an electoral college kind of thing. Romney would lose.
One thing is certain, the current system is horsecrap. We start in January, long before the election, with a small state holding a beauty pageant vote, and then an even smaller state with the first primary. If Romney wins SC and FL with weak pluralities the race will be over before the large majority of Republicans get a chance to weigh in.
This was a very bad result in NH. The trio of NG, RS and RP getting less combined than the Paultard. Newt edging RS isn’t good. I know some of you prefer the Newt but I don’t see how he can possibly do it. Like Perry he was once in command of this race and collapsed.
Do we think Huntsman did well enough he could register enough support in SC/FL to hurt Romney? May be our only hope.
And Perry, I know he didn’t try in NH but 1%? After 5th place in Iowa? It’s endlessly amusing that he edged Santorum in the FR poll a couple days ago. Give me a break. It’s over Governor, have some dignity.
