Right now I'm leaning towards Santorum but I would happily vote for any of the three should they get the nomination.

Will also add that if Romney gets the nomination, I will take a serious look at any third party candidate that might run.

I think Perry, probably - given that list - followed by Newt.

I have a friend in PA and Santorum was not well liked there - the comparison was to Arlen Specter and that he is mostly just a lot of talk.

Perry at least went shooting recently! That shows some courage of conviction!

I’m worried we’ll get a RINO again, and have an unenergized campaign. Although Obama is so annoying I’d vote my neighbor’s dog before the big Zero. I also can’t stand that name... Obama - really, naming a kid that is like child cruelty.

“I found this here on FR: “We vote on records and votes, not promises and pledges.””

Well then, Newt should be your guy. It’s his record as speaker that has won him his extremely high ACU ratings.

Most of his negatives come from stuff that would fall under the category of “promises and pledges.”

What I want now is some freepers to pay better attention before accusing other freepers of being disingenuous. Some people have no idea who the hell they’re talking with.

Yes, I’ve followed Newt for years but he’s not my guy. His other negatives, including consistency, are important to many.

I like Santorum, but he reminds me of Eddie Haskell for some reason.

I PROTEST! Even Eddie Haskell ain't got nuthin' on Mitt Romney!

The most moral candidate, Rick Santorum of course. I would take the other two also but with enthusiasm Santorum.

Gingrich is an implosion waiting to happen. (Not a "senior moment" implosion, I mean actual proposals that turn people off).

This is exactly why Newt isn't my pick at this point (Perry was, but that may change). I can overlook Newt's past history, but i think we need stability, dogged determination, and trustworthiness right now more than we need good debate skills and superior intellect.

Intellectual giftedness & creativity is associated with impulsivity, which seems to be Newt's gift/curse. Simply put, I can't trust him. I'd be afraid we would regret it later after a few incidents where he "spoke his mind." Four years is a long time for someone to keep their creative genius reigned in. That, plus he's too easily portrayed as "whining," whether that's justified or not. That's another gift/curse for incredibly smart people: they often don't understand why the rest of us can't "see it" like they can so clearly. I think that's what is happening when people say he's "whining" -- he's just frustrated that the rest of us aren't up to speed!

I'd love to see him in a VP role, one where he can contribute his superior intellect; yet, be in a position where a possibility for an impulsive implosion could be more contained. I don't think his ego would let him be in a VP position, though, unless he thought the tradeoff would be worth the chance to get back at Pelosi. ;)

Today on Hannity Rick admitted to some votes for which he’s like to take a mulligan. Probably including the stupid “No Child Gets Ahead”. I know he’s not perfect. Bob

I will be voting for Newt in the Ca. primary. I fear Obama and the Reid, San Fran Nan socialists that I would support Rick S if he wins or ...ugh, Mitt, if he wins. Under no circumstance would I support a 76-8 yr. old isolationist like Paul no matter what the new CBS poll says.

A couple of votes he’d like to take back is very different from a general philosophy that guides his policy statements and a significant percentage of his votes.
