I honestly don’t have much faith that Romney won’t be the nominee at this point, but if I had to pick a candidate to choose as his main opponent, I think it would have to be Newt. That’s coming from a long-standing Rick Santorum fan.

I was excited after Rick’s 2nd-place finish in Iowa because I thought he’d be able to capitalize on it. Seeing him in action yesterday evening got us such gems as “Iran is America’s #1 problem” and an attempt to criticize Willard Romney the open socialist for being...a business leader?

I’m sorry, but that just won’t cut it. I still think Rick is easily the most pro-life, pro-family candidate of the lot, but I have to concede that Newt is a much better communicator. What good is having a better product if you can’t sell it?

If I had to guess, Herman Cain will probably put forward an endorsement proposal related to his group, the 9-9-9 plan, or both. Maybe he’ll try to get people to join his new splinter group by promising to endorse whoever the members choose.

Lib McLame 33%
Conservative Grassroots/Evangelical HUCK 30%
Spoiler Thompson 15%

Anyone seeing a pattern here?

You bet I do.

McLame = Willard
HUCK = Newt/Santorum combined
Lazy Fred = Perry/Paul combo

If you have a brain.

I see it this way:

If Romney wins SC, it’s over and he is the nominee.

If he loses SC, it’ll be a horse race.......

Like you, I have little faith he can be beaten right now, because I had invested my hopes in SC and FL, where Newt could have taken a commanding lead and the big mojo. It looks as if Santorum has taken enough from Newt’s hyde to make a Romney win in SC likely. I am still hoping someone beats Mitt there, but I now believe he will win SC, too.

Remember, Graham and DeMint have yet to make endorsements, and they both like Romney. I would not be surprised to see them endorse him publicly together in SC right after Mitt wins NH.

Thanks for the link JediJones. Gonna be interesting. I catch tweets every now and again about BIG money, even money laundering being tied to Bain, bailouts too. Can't wait for the film to come out. I do hope it is a game changer.

, Cheney is not running for president nor did he ever run for president. And if he had I probably would not have voted for him. When I got my draft notice I had been active duty for six months. Santorum was not old enough for the draft. It ended in 1972, rick was born in 1958 in Winchester va..

Everyone I have spoken to with interest in politics recently has said the following..

* I don't like any of them ( including my dad who reviles Oboingo after voting for him and is pulling a straight R ticket the 1st time in his life)
* I don't look forward to this voting season.
* Is this the best ( the GOP ) can do?

In other words people are feeling the field SUCKS!

Romney can't get above 25 or 30% and as one friend said today, he is took slick and doesn't speak for me.

And RNC / GOP / Pundirty Class plays on as the USS Romney heads for the Iceberg!

Beem me up Scotty!

You have a bad reading problem, it says in the last paragraph, the time the up date in sc was completed. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2012/election_2012_presidential_election/south_carolina/election_2012_south_carolina_republican_primary

Ya, amputation vs. gangrene, Another Oz behind the curtain to tweak things around the edges. Barf...

Maybe it is G_d's will that we do not deserve the likes of a Palin @ this time.

Maybe we deserve Obama.....

I pasted that link here by accident, but since you asked, here is the article on the Bain bailout:

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/06/us-campaign-romney-bailout-idUSTRE8050LL20120106

The story of Bain’s failed investment in the Kansas City mill offers a perspective on a largely overlooked chapter in Romney’s business record: His firm’s brush with a U.S. bailout.

a federal government insurance agency had to pony up $44 million to bail out the company’s underfunded pension plan. Nevertheless, Bain profited on the deal, receiving $12 million on its $8 million initial investment and at least $4.5 million in consulting fees.

The U.S. Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp, which insures company retirement plans, determined in 2002 that GS had underfunded its pension by $44 million. The federal agency, funded by corporate levies, stepped in to cover the basic pension payments

Workers were denied the severance pay and health insurance they’d been promised, and their pension benefits were cut by as much as $400 a month.

And whoever is worried about Perry sucking votes away from the other candidates ought to ask themselves, just what is Ron Paul doing?

The ABC swoon-fest after the debate did get it right on Ron Paul. "If you rip open Ron Paul's suit, you'll find one of Romney's sons operating the controls."

Romney and Santorum will go down, Newt will go up.

Agreed. Santorum looked like he was out of his depth a few times last night.

Wild card that could screw up everything, Cain.

He chickened - folks remember this.
