Tea party favorite and pro-life conservative Sarah Palin and her family were viciously attacked to the point she chose not to run.
Congressional Tea Party Caucus leader and constitutional pro-life conservative Michele Bachmann had early promise, but I guess came across as too "shrill" and consequently her numbers driven down to the point she exited.
Successful pro-life conservative Texas Governor Perry hit the race at the top but due to missteps and less than stellar debate performances soon fizzled and is now all but gone.
Pro-life conservative businessman Cain and his famous 9-9-9 plan had promise, but was driven out due to indefensible allegations.
Pro-life Reagan Revolution conservative Newt Gingrich reinvigorated his campaign and soared to the top of the national polls, but was unacceptable to the establishment and apparently also unacceptable to the "true conservatives" among us and his numbers are now plummeting
You'd think "unquestionably" pro-life, pro-family conservative Rick Santorum whose recent surge took him to a tie in Iowa and who's now surging in the national polls might be good enough to stand against Romney for the base, but looks like there are "true conservatives" now attacking HIM as not good enough.
Well, drive them all out and who's left?
Huntsman? Who? Moonbat Paul?
Ideas anyone? Should we all continue attacking the conservatives we don't like until we drive them all out?
Personally, I could easily have lived with Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Newt or Santorum and would be proud to enthusiastically support any of them, warts and all. Any one of them is infinitely better than Obama or Romney.
But if we don't land on one soon and raise him up over Romney, guess who we're going to be stuck with? And it ain't going to be pretty. And if abortionist/statist/progressive Romney (or moonbat Paul) is the one, might as well get used to four more years of Obama. I won't vote for or support either one of those two.
I'd suggest that we all stop trying to tear down the other conservative candidates in the race and instead concentrate on trying to build up our own personal favorites. Who knows? May even discover an acceptable conservative (if not a great conservative) in the bunch. We've never had a perfect conservative yet. Not even the magnificent Ronald Reagan. We and they all have warts.
But we do want to have a candidate with at least an actual CONSERVATIVE record and not an out and out liberal progressive RINO. So let's compare their records and their actual conservative accomplishments but not try to destroy them personally.
God bless and may the best CONSERVATIVE be our nominee.
FLIP SLICK WILLARD RINO ROMNEY is NOT better than Obama
His nomination will split the GOP, ensure a third party candidate, and allow the Communist in Chief to be reelected.
Opportunist phony coward degenerate sons of polygamist military service avoiding snake oil salesmen bitches from a family of phony coward degenerate sons of polygamist military service avoiding snake oil salesmen bitches like Romney need to be destroyed.
The GOP risks annihilation as long as he is in the mix.
This must be the last election cycle he is allowed to pollute.
The Romneys are cowards and snake oil salesmen.
Its unconscionable that they en mass have forsworn fighting this nations foreign wars, and he should be disqualified for national office based on that alone.
His father didnt serve either, and the rest of the clan were busy hiding in Mexico where they could practice muslim style polygamy.
He has also taken a firm stand against illegal immigration, which is somewhat ironic, as the evidence suggests that Romney's own grandfather came to America as an illegal immigrant.
His great-grandfather, a devout Mormon in a time when his church encouraged polygamy, fled the US with his multiple wives in 1884, when American law could strip polygamists of the right to vote or serve on juries.
Romney's grandfather and father were born and raised in Mexico, and Romney's father was a child when his family left Mexico at the height of the Mexican Revolution, in 1912. Romney's father's and grandmother were American citizens under the law at that time, and came to America on a train, while his grandfather crossed the border northward in classic "illegal immigrant" fashion, entering US territory on a long walk over barren desert land.
If it comes to that, I'll write in Sarah Palin and go home to dig my fox hole. I will NOT vote for Obama-Lite under any circumstances. My honor and personal integrity are worth more than that.
Considering what Gov. Jindal has done in Louisiana.........Well, I will let you have the last word.
I think he's been given a bad rap. Admittedly, his early debate performances were not good but he found his groove and was much improved.
Besides, do we want a talker or do we want a doer? Perry has already done it. He's proven himself to be an extremely effective chief executive--none of the others have that kind of record.
Where is the “Like” button..I agree with you.
Perry has already bought AIRTIME in South Carolina to attack Romney with prior to the Iowa Caucus. He needs to use it. And use it well.
Perry can attack Romney in Saturday’s debate. Good for him that he is staying in to attack Romney. He currently has the most thriving economy of any State in the Nation and he gets to trash Romney Saturday night and also in South Carolina where he already has the air time for Romney attack ads. Romney started it, now Conservatives get to finish it.
I’m not sure about the “anybody’s better than Obama” part, at least not when you think about what happens BEYOND the next 4 years. Although Islamofascists and Democrats often seem to engage in long-term thinking, for some unfortunate reason I rarely see conservatives doing it.
Hilary Clinton can beat Obama. So what is the argument against letting her switch parties if she wanted to and become our candidate? Destroying our party brand. Putting policies into place that we think will hurt the country. But what if she got up there and said she’s changed her mind on all those liberal policies, except she still kind of likes Hilarycare and wants to keep taxes high on the rich, but she’s become pro-life, pro-gun, is a hawk on Iran, etc.
Would that be enough for you? Would you believe her? Would you trust her? If not, then how can we trust Romney when he has done the exact same thing as described above? Just because he’s had an “R” by his name for longer than her?
If we nominate a candidate who doesn’t stand up for our party’s values, then how much longer can we expect the party to represent our values? Not to mention, what if our candidate enacts these liberal policies, they fail, and the public votes us out and votes in a far-left liberal again in 4 years, maybe even Barack Obama back for a do-over. We cannot afford to elect a candidate who will fail in our name and destroy our brand.
There is a strong argument that it’s better to let Obama keep ruining the country for 4 years if our only other option becomes electing a liberal or squishy “moderate.” We will never fix our country long-term unless we can change the hearts and minds of the voters, or even just strengthen their common sense convictions so that they can’t be swayed away by charlatans like Obama.
If we nominate a conservative who articulates the conservative message very clearly, but the public rejects it and elects Obama again, then something good can happen in the long run. When Obama’s policies fail and the country does not improve, we will be able to come back in 2 years and 4 years and tell them they made a mistake by rejecting conservatism and should give it a real try. On the other hand, if we promote our party as a liberal or moderate option and win election on that basis, we will get liberal government, it will fail, and we will have destroyed our brand name. Even if we wanted to get a conservative elected after that, the voters wouldn’t trust us again.
Voting in someone like Hilary or Romney just because they say they’ve changed some of their views risks destroying the party. It would probably force us to spend a lot of time and effort building up a third party just so we could convince voters that we would stick to conservative principles consistently.
How do you figure that Romney's 50% conservative with his record? I don't think the man's even 20% conservative. He's a big government liberal, posing as a Republican, and telling the LIE that he's a conservative.
The fact that he never even TRIED to connect with the Tea Party should also tell you more than you need to know about this charlatan. He's only marginally more conservative than Obama is.
Well Said Jim.
I feel your frustration.
Thank you for posting this, Jim.
I don’t know how many times I have to say it until the RINOs understand, but NO, I’m NOT going to vote FOR a fricking ABORTIONIST/STATIST for president. Period!!
“And yes, Ann Coulter is a fake and her opinion should be labeled as RINO.”
And IF she should not be a phoney, the cold bucket of water might make her wake up and come home to REAL conservatism.
I am and vote Republican because I am conservative first. Especially when Ronald Reagan was President, conservatives found a home in the GOP. If the GOP stops being conservative, then I won’t be Republican anymore. Ronald Reagan used to be a Democrat and he once said, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party, they left me.” Is the GOP going to leave me and other conservatives?
BTW I break down my conservatism as thus:
45% Social/Moral conservative
35% National Defense Conservative
20% Fiscal Conservative
Of course, IMO, it is really hard to separate each, because they intertwine on many levels.
How do you know that?
LOL .. I'll let Bobalu answer that.
There are differences in style and in philosophy of the candidates. I will say there are even differences in character. It does make for a difficult situation for verbal exchange of ideas/intents to avoid ‘plowing up the field to expose/rid the weeds’. The one feature that bothered me in all these debates has been the candidates attacking each other on a personal basis on different positions when the discussion could have/should have been held on the matter devoid of who was/had been espousing what. Such behavior does not increase stature in my thoughts and opinion. That sometimes candidates appeared to be trying to stare down the speaking candidate was also a turn-off. I’m sure some rancor was stirred by the moderators but the candidates should have been wise enough to dodge such baiting.
Excellent.
Santorum
Gingrich
Perry
In that order, for me. I like Perry’s positions better than Newt’s, but I don’t think Perry would do as well debating Obama. If it goes like the primary debates, the media will eat him alive.
I agree that Romney or Paul would be a disaster for us.
I sure was sorry to see Cain fall. He didn’t handle the accusations well at all.
Well said Jim! I hear you and it’s pretty frightening, to say the least. Romney is essentially “Odrama lite” which is why the MSM is pushing him....
God in heaven needs to hear our prayers and help people get it together enough to support someone decent. Or maybe He needs to open some people’s eyes.
“Its unconscionable that they en mass have forsworn fighting this nations foreign wars, and he should be disqualified for national office based on that alone.”
Newt Gingrich didn’t serve either. Should he be DQ’d? How many more jobs will NAFTA Newt ship to Mexico or elsewhere if he’s elected?
Look - I’m voting against Romney here in GA. I DO NOT support Romney. (I plan to vote Perry fwiw).
But too many brave American soldiers have died in wars fighting for OUR RIGHT TO VOTE....and to just skip the election and let Obama win is almost the same as spitting in those soldiers’ faces IMO.
To hell with Obama. I’ll do whatever I can at the polls to make that happen. Hopefully that means a good conservative. But any (R) left in this race is better than scumbag Obongo.
BTW, who do you think would run as a 3rd party candidate?
You may very well be right about Paul’s numbers being fake and computer generated and if so we can discount him and most of his numbers? What % would you think were actual?
If we tally all “actual” but Romney’s count then we can present all of that as anti Romney and present Santorum as a real win. The more this is done in commentary to the media the more the message gets out. If this becomes a general response across the net we’ve just ‘meme’d Romney to the 2nd place. We can all do this easily as we browse the net and media websites this week.
We just need to get a wordsmith to get the gist down so we all pretty much type the same meme to be.
Western Oklahoma here. The boom is on, for the last 6 months or so. I've poasted this on several threads but apparently, I need to be clearer. By 2017 America WILL be the largest EXPORTER of gas and oil...in the world. Obama and his flunkies can't stop this.......
Ok, I'm dead....
