mormonism must do that to one. Beck needs to heed his own advice, “DON’T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT”, he says. Hey BECK? the TRUTH about mormon lies is out there, READ, don’t take my word for it. LOL

- - - - -
And he should take up the advice of his own Prophets and Apostles. I did and I left as have many others.

George Albert Smith: “If a faith will not bear to be investigated; if its preachers and professors are afraid to have it examined, their foundation must be very weak.” Journal of Discourses, Volume 14, Page 21

John Taylor: “I think a full, free talk is frequently of great use; we want nothing secret nor underhanded, and I for one want no association with things that cannot be talked about and will not bear investigation.” Journal of Discourses, Volume 20, Page 264.

Dr. Hugh Nibley: “The Book of Mormon can and should be tested. It invites criticism.” An Approach to The Book of Mormon, 1957, p. 13.

Brigham Young: “compare the religion of the Latter-day Saints with it, and see if it will stand the test.” Journal of Discourses, Volume 16, p. 46, 1873

Orson Pratt: ““If true, (the Book of Mormon) is one of the most important messages ever sent from God to man. If false, it is one of the most cunning, wicked, bold, deep-laid impositions ever palmed upon the world, calculated to deceive and ruin millions who sincerely receive it as the Word of God, and will suppose themselves built upon the rock of truth, until they are plunged, with their families, into hopeless despair.”

“Convince us of our errors of Doctrine, if we have any, by reason, by logical arguments, or by the Word of God and we will ever be grateful for the information and you will ever have the pleasing reflections that you have been instruments in the hands of God of redeeming your fellow beings.” The Seer, p. 15

Joseph Fielding Smith: “Mormonism, as it is called, must stand or fall on the story of Joseph Smith. He was either a prophet of God, divinely called, properly appointed and commissioned, or he was one of the biggest frauds this world has ever seen. There is no middle ground. If Joseph was a deceiver, who willfully attempted to mislead people, then he should be exposed, his claims should be refuted, and his doctrines shown to be false.” Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. I p. 188-89.

Joseph Smith, Jr.: “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion”...“Take away the Book of Mormon and the revelations, and where is our religion? We have none.” History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408-409, History of the Church, 2:52

Huntsman falls into the range of normal, normal candidate, normal Mormon, normal rino etc, too liberal for most of us, but within the Republican range that we face every election.

You are right about Romney being a whole different ball of wax, he is the guy that is just too wrong in every way, during his entire lifetime, for us to support.

Mormons = allegience to the church above all, not to the country.

- - - - -
So very true. For the LDS it is always ALL about ‘the Church’ (not God, not Christ) an organization.

I believe that Beck is mentally ill. I wish I was a subscriber to GBTV, just so that I could cancel it.

This a$$ said he would vote for Paul before he would vote for Gingrich... Beck died that day.

Beck is a hightech circus barker.

Well....I was way more concerned about Newt’s own words “Realpolitik Wilsonian”....way more concerned....In the same cites, I also heard Newt praise progressive government.......

I realize Beck has some very loose screws, but I also have alot of experience with Newt as my congressman. He isn’t a conservative in my book - he’s an academic elitist with a penchant for running off at the mouth. Add to that a temper that sucks.

*sigh* This comment has nothing to do with Mormon theology; may all Free Republic members believe as they choose. It has nothing to do with Mormons (some Mormons are good individuals and some are bad; they keys are (a) "individuals" and that you can replace Mormon with the word Methodist, Roman Catholic, B'hai, Lutheran, Buddhist, Agnostic, Hindu, Orthodox Jew, etc.).

Mormon prophet Joseph Smith is supposed to have prophesied in 1843 that the U.S. Constitution would be "handing by a thread" and would be rescued, if at all, by the Mormons. That's called the "White Horse Prophesy." What's debated is the extent to which it was or is adopted and taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

It's clear that Mormon prophets Brigham Young and John Taylor repeated the White Horse Prophesy back in the 1800s. Their comments are in the LDS Journal of Discourses.

If you go to the Wikipedia article on it, you'll read that the authenticity of the statement by Joseph Smith is "debated" and that "the prophecy as a whole has never been officially acknowledged or accepted, and it has been repudiated by the LDS Church since 1918."

How it has been repudiated is unclear. Since 1918, Mormon Apostles (Members of the Quorum of the Twelve) Charles W. Nibley, Melvin J. Ballard, Reuben Clark, and Mark E, Peterson, and President/prophets Harold B. Lee, Joseph Fielding Smith, and Ezra Taft Benson, have addressed the entire LDS Church at at least eleven General Conference and spoken with immediacy of the White Horse Prophecy and how the church would fulfill it.

BYU President Ernest L. Wilkinson has spoken to the student at BYU about it, and Mormon Senator from Utah Wallace F. Bennett has as well. The LDS Church's Ensign magazine said, in 1976: "The documents show that Joseph Smith did prophecy a number of times that the United States and the Constitution would be imperiled and that the elders would have a hand in saving them.”

Those are just a few examples. There are more. And when multiple President/prophets of the church, and Members of the Quorum of the Twelve, continue to address the entire LDS church at general conference and embrace the White Horse Prophecy, repeating it and the "constitution hanging by a thread" being rescued by the LDS church, I don't know how that is repudiating it. And that's not theology - that's just a historical observation.

Regarding Wikipedia, you should be aware that Mormon articles on Wikipedia are part of the WikiProject to "improve the coverage of Mormonism" on Wikipedia. The other night I pointed out that an article listed a researched academic journal's number of post-Manifesto polygamous marriages as "belief" but 'less than 250 (citations needed)' as fact. By the next day, the citation had been filled in with a cite to an old, non-documented article (which, incidentally, said there were exactly 267, but the 250 number remained in Wikipedia). Don't believe what it says on Wikipedia any more than you believe what I tell you. The quotes from the administrators on the LDS collaborative WikiProject are full of frustration about LDS edits not supported with sources.

So.

That's the White Horse Prophecy. There's disagreement about whether it's taught and whether it's repudiated.

In 1967, Mitt Romney's father George didn't come straight out and say "White Horse Prophesy." Interviewed in the August 1967 issue of Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, George Romney said:

“Anyone can look at the words of the Prophet Joseph Smith . . . Brigham Young and others[.] I have always felt that they meant that sometime the question of whether we are going to proceed on the basis of the Constitution would arise and at this point government leaders who were Mormons would be involved in answering that question.”

On November 14, 2008, just after the Obama election, Glenn Beck told Bill O'Reilly:

"We are at the place where the Constitution hangs in the balance. I feel the Constitution is hanging in the balance right now, hanging by a thread unless the good Americans wake up."

In 1999, when Mormon Orrin Hatch announced he was running for President, he gave an interview to an LDS-owned radio station and announced:

"I've never seen it worse than this, where the Constitution literally is hanging by a thread."

That's according to the Salt Lake Tribune, Nov. 11, 1999. The radio announcer is quoted as saying Hatch was "speaking to his people." So a Utah newspaper quotes the announcer at a LDS-owned radio station, about a Mormon politician speaking about announcing his candidacy for President on an LDS-owned radio station with the "Constitution" and "handing by a thread" bits. It's up to the individual to judge whether Hatch was 'speaking to his people,' as he announcer said.

George Romney, Glenn Beck, Orrin Hatch. For a prophesy that's not taught, it certainly must be talked about.

A lot of modern-day Apostles and three modern-day LDS presidents/prophets and a lot of entire-church General Conferences. I don't see repudiation there. That's just my opinion.

But the reason not to vote for Romney is that he is a liberal.

I dislike Romney as much as other people, but I don’t dislike him because he is a Mormon, I dislike him because he is a squishy RINO.

I hate Romney because he is a RINO, I don’t TRUST him because he is Mormon. Many years personal experience.

It’s a CONSPIRACY!!!! Beck talks in coded words - uses subterfuge like saying Santorum is a great Conservative - Michelle Bachmann is fantastic. He twists his words so listeners naturally drift towards Romney??????

Does he put something in your drinking water that makes you dream of Utah? Does he hypnotize you into liking the Osmonds?

I hear Beck dissing Romney all the time.

Its the Mormon thing isn’t it?

every God fearing person puts God first.

- - - - -
Agreed but the LDS don’t put God first, they put the organization (the Church) first. Mormon testimonies are often about ‘the Church’, they lie, whitewash, disemmble, hide their history and make excuses all for the “church”.

Can you imagine a Catholic saying “I don’t believe in God, but I believe in the Catholic church!” In practice it is the same thing.

I think he is narcissistic enough to think he is the fulfillment of the White Horse prophecy, but then again so does Romney.

I think he is deliberately not mentioning Romney (if he wasn’t going to support him eventually why not trash him?) so it looks like he resigned himself when he does come out in favor of Romney.

“Exactly...........too bad I can’t get a partial refund on the yearly subscription to GBTV.”

Yeah, I noticed that in the cancellation window——no partial refunds. I guess he needs every cent he can get for, what is it, the Dream Factory or something he just bought? Some 15K sq. ft. 4 story movie studio or something, for the next great secret venture which he will reveal at a later date, and which will change the world as we know it.

“Don’t worry, he [Beck] will evenutally come out for Mitt. Right now he is playing concern troll” [Reaganut]

So will you, unless you are saying you will vote for Obama against Romney. And if that is true then you are what I think you are. [lynn4303]

What do you think I am? I really want a reply to that. You have only been here a couple of years, I have been here over a decade so I want to know what you 'know' about me.

What I am is a conservative who stands by her principals, and I have said for a very long time that Mitt will NEVER get my vote and if the GOP shoves him down our throat I will leave the GOP because they have already left me. I can vote against Romney and Obama both.

I agree with JimRob regarding Mitt and he isn't gonna support Mitt either EVER.

Romney is just a paler version of Obama.

His daughter started running around with a Morman and she got him to go church with her (a Morman Church). Apparently he was a cafeteria Catholic who didn’t take his faith too serious, and she got him to become a Morman.

Uh... not quite.
