Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
It sure does.
Good Night, Everyone! This has been a great thread.
I have more hope tonight that we can beat Obama than I’ve had for months.
I thought Mrs. Romney’s introduction was arrogant and presumptuous.
You too Windflier... God bless... don’t let the (DEM) bedbugs bite!
I too am VERY disappointed, I simply can not stand Mittens!!!!
99% in — Rick ahead by 34.
I didn’t hear Perry’s speech. I hope it is not the end for him. He had a rough start, but he seemed to be rolling along. This is just one state.
Great picture.Her smile is precious.
Who said the culture war is over? It's about to get a whole lot hotter.
Watching obama lose will be sweet. Watching him lose to a social conservative will be even sweeter.
Haven’t you learned no matter how unfavorable Newt might “score” he’s already proven he rises again...and sometimes from pretty much the bottom of the pack as he did and that against all odds and without staff....figure that. Reminds me of “Rocky” when all thought he was a done deal...and then there was two and three.
The man is a Newtron Bomb who isn’t about to let the media nor the elites determine his course....he said time and again his campaign would not be traditional and so far it hasn’t been.
Watch out now as they all go into Southern Newt-land!!!
Go Newt Go!!!! and we’ll be going WITH you!!!!
That would be IDEAL!
I had the same reaction.
altura, my friend, it sure sounds like he is leaving the race and it looked liked it for sure, knowing Rick. The buzz about the trip to South Carolina in the morning was over when he said that he was going back to Texas tomorrow, that after the vote count tonight, “to see if there was a path forward.”
Rick is no doubter, and no user of his base of support
(contrary to others) so, we know what this means. We lost a good one if this comes out the way it definitely sounded.
Also, he’s a straight shooter, as you know, and he knows these candidates by now. HIS endorsement is one that should matter to all, and will matter for me. I have to hope it will be Newt. I believe Newt can play the long game if he had money, and take down Romney first and then O.
What do you think? Too soon to think? Hang in there. Love, Rita
Great picture!
Well he couldn't claim victory, and at the end he said "on to New Hampshire, we have some work to do there." That last phrase brought a smile to my face.
Santorum +13.
I want to go to sleep, come on finish this count. It can’t take THAT long.
I turned off the coverage.
What did Perry say that made it sound like he was dropping out?
It was, and not humble in any way. Imo just another beltway wife expecting it's their turn.
I don't care for snob.
HERE HERE! and THERE THERE! ... for a completely on the mark post that recognizes the complete idiocy we are facing.... in re.... there are those so called Republicans who willingly would sacrifice this election for POTUS rather than suffer a conservative.... sad.

Did he? LOL ...
I bet they had to collar the confetti guy: DON’T! DO IT! ROFL..
Ooh, our Angels ... God bless them.
