Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.
Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.
We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.
My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:
Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1
Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.
I don’t see if this poll was of likely primary voters. If the poll doesn’t include the undecided voters, it’s really just the media trying to decide the GOP nominee.
Amen and AMEN!
Wouldn’t be a hoot if Sara won! Ok, wishful thinking but ....
“The fact that he authored racist newletters? Hes a trufer? Hes anti-semitic? Hes a liberal?”
My most recent favorite was when he called Bradley Manning a great patriot. That, my FRiends, was a transcendant moment /s
All of hear predictions showing Rick Perry with more than 10 percent of the vote is really reaching. I would guess 50 percent of the votes Perry and Bachman were counting on will go to Santorum. Perry will be lucky to get fourth.
btw, welcome to FR, newbie.....
“Could care less who wins the Iowa caucus. Means nothing!!! “
I have sagely observed that our nominee, whoever it ended up being, was among the top four in Iowa at least since 1976. So I think being in the top four does mean something.
Makes perfect sense. Paul is a liberal just like they are, and has no business even running in a Republican caucus.
Any trouble from the Occupy crowd will be quashed in a heartbeat. It will be over well before you can dial 911.
Lol, and I thought this was an 2012 Iowa Caucus Live Thread, not a bash Ron Paul thread, silly me.
Thanks for the link. This is fun.
I agree and think at best we’ll peel off Bachmann and Huntsman and leave a pack of 5.
“Lol, and I thought this was an 2012 Iowa Caucus Live Thread, not a bash Ron Paul thread, silly me.”
Ron Paul is a candidate in the caucases. His political stands are germane to the discussion.
I have discussed many candidates’ flaws and assets today, not just Paul’s.
Ron Paul is an embarrassment and has no place in Republican party politics. He should work within the Libertarian party. He is a Libertarian.
We might have to give her an alternate code name, you know what happens any time her name is posted anywhere on FR what happens.
We see the trolls appear, I bet they spend all day long putting her name in the FR search engine, and then they swoop in like a bunch of flying monkies.
I would call her The Barracuda for now, just to screw them up.
I also do hope “The Barracuda” gets a LARGE amount of write-ins.
Of course, Iowa counts, but....it is only the beginning salvo!!! Face it....facts are, our country as we know it is at stake!!! So.....you are going to see the scenerio change many times with different faces then the Iowa candidates. IMHO, this election is one of the most important in American history, if not the most important.
Obama is naught but an elitist tyrant and would be dictator. If he could, he would have us all addressing him as Herr Obama. Think I’m joking, just get on the History/Military channels and watch the “Hitler” regime move forward to full control of German life. Adolf & Barack, one and the same!!! How could Americans be so stupid and be fooled so easily!!! Sad!!! Sad for our people, sad for freedom and liberty and sad for all of our children!!!
Just heard a radio news item that said as of this morning, 40% of those questioned in Iowa still had not made up their mind who they would caucus for.
Maybe the candidates should have campaigned there 24/7, 7 days a week, starting 2 years ago in order to get the undecided vote down to 35%.
He is a consistant conservative, and if nominated I will be glad to support him with cash and vote. But I think that is a pipe dream, well, without a pipe at this point. I wish him well.
Well I hope you find that perfect candidate to support before the Marxists send you off to some gulag. Or make your family pay for the bullet used to execute you. Meanwhile this is a Live Thread. There are plenty of other threads on which to bash libertarians or other imperfect conservatives.
I can understand the undecided thing, the field sucks! Only 2 or 3 don’t suck quite and bad as the rest.
