Rick Perry confronts Politico's Mike Allen in person over the publication's report that unnamed members of his senior staff are blaming the way the campaign was handled for what has resulted thus far. Transcript of the exchange below:

Mike Allen, Politico: "Governor, some of your staffers have told us that you ran this as a gubernatorial campaign for too long and you didn't look big enough, get big enough, fast enough. Do you take some responsibility?"

Gov. Rick Perry: "I don't know who you are talking to, so I can't respond unless you give me a name."

Allen: "These are members of your staff."

Perry: "You got a name?"

Has Mike Allen stopped beating his wife?

This should put the media on alert that their usual tricks of innuendo and intimidation aren’t going to work with Perry. His response to this bozo was perfect.

He did the same thing to Mike Wallace who also tried to use some vague "senior staffer" source.

I liked Perry before this episode and now I'm feeling even better about his ability to be a good POTUS.

Perfectus maximus(LOL)—I hope he’s on the ticket in one slot or another, but I really don’t think he would play second fiddle.

How would Obama react to Perry if the Gov got in HIS face like that?

Wanna make some stuff up? Really?

You wanna go toe to toe?

I expect when Perry’s got his blood up, he’ll smile at you (like he did here) and cut you up (like he did here).

And come off as sticking up for himself and his staff.

Mike, some say you like to smear margarine on your bald head and then stick it in a bowling ball polisher. And then you go to work and shine. Any truth to that?

He’s a good man, real people; but, we’ll see, it’s not looking too good for him now.

Between Perry, Gingrich and Cain, the establishment media has been made to look like the fools and partisans that they are this year.

I can't wait for Lin Wood (Herman Cain's attorney) to file a lawsuit against NBC, CBS, ABC, George Stephanopolous, Brian Williams and the rest of the jornolisters who published nameless allegations without corroboration that torpedoed his campaign. Punitive damage in the billions, perhaps?

He is the one to run the country. Texans love him as Governor and the rest of the country will love Perry as President.

It would be good to have someone in the White House who isn't ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.

Reminds me of the “old” Ann Coulter. There she is being interviewed along with Lanny Davis on any number of Cable News shows.

Lanny gives his “both Parties do it” response when something a Democrat has done comes up in the conversation. Ann Coulter looks at him and says, “Really?, give me a name”.

Lanny blubbers on and never comes up with a specific name of a Republican doing what the Democrat has done. I've seen it over and over again.

Obama uses the same Lanny Davis strategy and the Media lets him get away with it every time. You will never hear a specific clarifying followup question asked of the Emperor.

It would be “indefinite detention” time—but, I forgot, Hussein says he won’t do that. OTOH, the ‘rats set that precedent in Chicago when the SS arrested the woman who told Slick that he sucked, and her husband who had done/said nothing.

I agreed with Cain on the vast majority of issues and was on the Cain-Train long before his May announcement that he was running for President.

What soured me on him most of all was his unwillingness to "punch back" when someone/the media attacked him and/or his issues. He was simply too nice. Whether 999 or immigration or "bimbo-eruptions," he smiled and meekly replied, as if he didn't want to make anyone mad or hurt anyone's feelings.

What I like most about Gingrich is his unwillingness to let leftists and media get away with that kind of c**p. I don't agree with him on issues, but I love that he stands up and defends himself and his positions.

I can say the same about Rick Perry. I don't like some of his positions, and I'm not sure I trust him completely, but I love that he's fighting back against the media slurs and innuendos. I wish all of the candidates would do that.

I'm completely undecided about which Republican candidate I will support....

PERRY got the same question exactly from Chris Wallace.
PERRY came back at Chris, cooly, with the same question.

It was game over there, too. Perfect!

Not to worry, Huntsman said Iowa is for picking corn, New Hampshire is for picking presidents.

Love that steely look in Perry’s eye as he’s facing that journalist down. You can visably see the journ start to shake.

How would Obama react to Perry if the Gov got in HIS face like that?

You mean like this?

This was Perry greeting Obama when the president flew to Austin for a fundraiser. Perry wanted to know why Obama had done nothing about border security and when Obama continued to ignore him, he took the occasion to personally hand Obama a list of grievances.

Check out his expression. Perry is not offering a friendly greeting.
