Dick Morris: Obama’s sneaky treaties

President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are entering negotiations over — or seeking ratification of — five treaties that could radically limit our national sovereignty and the reach of our democratic institutions. Particularly scary is that the treaties, once signed and ratified, have the same status as constitutional law and cannot be altered or eclipsed by Congress or state legislatures. And their provisions must be enforced by U.S. courts.
Those who wish to preserve our sovereignty and democratic control over our future must rally to block these treaties, either by pressing Obama and Clinton not to sign them or by blocking their ratification.
• International Criminal Court — Clinton has reversed George W. Bush’s policy and entered into negotiations over U.S. participation in the court. Specifically, the leftists who are sponsoring the court wish to create a new crime of “aggression,” which is essentially going to war without the approval of the United Nations. If we submit to the court’s jurisdiction, our presidents and Cabinet officials could be prosecuted criminally for going to war without U.N. approval. This would, of course, give Russia and China a veto over our military actions. Clinton says she will stop our military’s hands from being tied, but we all must realize that once we accept the International Criminal Court, we go down a slippery slope. The court could even prosecute Americans who have been cleared by our own judicial system.
• The Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST) has been signed, and the Obama administration — with the aid of RINO Sen. Richard Lugar (Ind.) — will push for its ratification as soon as Lugar’s primary in Indiana is over this year. LOST requires that the United States pay an international body half of its royalties from offshore drilling. The body would then distribute the funds as it sees fit to whichever nations it chooses. The United States would only have one vote out of 160 regarding where the money goes. LOST will also oblige us to hand over our offshore drilling technology to any nation that wants it … for free.
• Small-arms control — Clinton is about to negotiate on a global ban on export of small arms. It would only apply to private citizens but, of course, most small-arms deals come not from individuals or private firms but from governments, specifically those of the United States, Russia, China and Israel. The treaty would require each nation to adopt measures to stop exportation of small arms. It is easy to see how this could be a backdoor way to require national registration of all guns and to assert federal regulation over firearms. It would also require the registration of all ammunition to track its source once a gun is fired. The Second Amendment be damned!
• Outer Space Code of Conduct — Under the guise of stopping debris from accumulating in outer space, the European Union has enlisted Clinton in negotiations over a code of conduct. The code would prohibit activities that are likely to generate debris in outer space — space littering. The code might inhibit or prohibit the United States from deploying anti-missile missiles on platforms in space, denying us the key weapon we need to counter Iranian, Chinese and North Korean missile threats. European leftists reacted angrily when G.W. Bush opted out of the ABM treaty banning defensive weapons. Now they seek to reimpose it under the guise of a code of conduct.
• Rights of the Child — Even more fanciful is a treaty Clinton plans to negotiate setting forth a code of rights for children, to be administered by a 14-member court set up for the purpose. The draft treaty obliges rich nations to provide funds for shelter, food, clothing and education for children in poor nations. This provision could create grounds to litigate to challenge the level of foreign aid we give as inadequate to meet our treaty obligations. Already, leftists in the United Kingdom are using the treaty to attack welfare cuts by the Cameron government.
European liberalism is advancing — masked — by way of these treaties. Defenders of liberty must say no!

After forcing the FBI and CIA to purge their counterterrorism training programs of all references to “Islam” in “Islamic terrorism,” the Muslim Brotherhood in America has turned its sights on the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Writers from the Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University School of Law have posted op-ed pieces in The New York Times criticizing NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly for appearing in The Third Jihad and authorizing its screening in NYPD training courses.
The critically acclaimed documentary is narrated by devout American Muslim and Navy veteran Dr. Zuhdi Jasser (president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy), and presents a factual look at the published mission of Muslim Brotherhood front groups and affiliates “in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.”
For those who have actually watched The Third Jihad, it is clear that the film is not about all Muslims or even all American Muslims. It is about that minority of Muslims who are actively engaged in subversion to replace the U.S. Constitution with Islamic law (Shariah). The Brennan Center is actually providing a living case study of exactly what The Third Jihad is all about.
Under Islamic law, speaking criticism of Islam or Islamic law is expressly forbidden. Such criticism – especially by non-Muslims – provides the justification for attack.
In their latest NYT hit piece, published Jan. 29, Brennan Center affiliates Faiza Patel and Elizabeth Goitein attack the NYPD and Commissioner Kelly. And in their mission to censor the tools used by New York’s finest to deal effectively with Islamic terrorism, they actually call for the appointment of a presumably Muslim-sensitive inspector general (IG) to oversee the NYPD.
What the Times fails to mention is that the Brennan Center in 2009 received the “Safe While Free Award” from the Council on American Islamic Relations. CAIR was named by the Department of Justice as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror-funding case. CAIR was founded by Hamas members and operates in the U.S. as a support group for the Muslim Brotherhood.
In other words, groups with ties to Hamas are now telling the NYPD how to manage its counterterrorism training. Worse, they shamefully call for the commissioner’s resignation and the appointment of an inspector to investigate how the NYPD has been so successful at keeping New York safe from terror attacks since 9/11.
The only thing more shameful is NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly capitulating. Kelly and his police force are champions in the war to keep America safe. Their showing of The Third Jihad should be praised as an important element of their success in uncovering and defeating numerous terrorist plots.
In The Third Jihad, Ray Kelly joins former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, former CIA Director R. James Woolsey and others to explain the role of the Muslim Brotherhood in conducting homegrown jihad and threatening our constitutional liberties and the American way of life. Aside from apologizing for defending New Yorkers, Kelly has nothing to be ashamed of and neither does the NYPD.
The Muslim Brotherhood has no business dictating counterterrorism policy to the NYPD – and the NYPD has no business taking its training directives from a group whose motto remains:
Allah is our objective
The Prophet is our guide
The Quran is our law
Jihad is our way
And dying in the way of Allah is our highest aspiration.
The Brennan Center offensive against the NYPD is a real-time demonstration of The Third Jihad’s key theme: How Muslim Brotherhood supporters work assiduously to undermine America’s counterterrorism defenses through infiltration, intimidation and subversion of this country’s most important law enforcement and national security organizations.

Radical U.S. Muslims Little Threat, Study Says By SCOTT SHANE
WASHINGTON — A feared wave of homegrown terrorism by radicalized Muslim Americans has not materialized, with plots and arrests dropping sharply over the two years since an unusual peak in 2009, according to a new study by a North Carolina research group.
The study, to be released on Wednesday, found that 20 Muslim Americans were charged in violent plots or attacks in 2011, down from 26 in 2010 and a spike of 47 in 2009.
Charles Kurzman, the author of the report for the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security, called terrorism by Muslim Americans “a minuscule threat to public safety.” Of about 14,000 murders in the United States last year, not a single one resulted from Islamic extremism, said Mr. Kurzman, a professor of sociology at the University of North Carolina.
The report also found that no single ethnic group predominated among Muslims charged in terrorism cases last year — six were of Arab ancestry, five were white, three were African-American and two were Iranian, Mr. Kurzman said. That pattern of ethnic diversity has held for those arrested since Sept. 11, 2001, he said.
Forty percent of those charged in 2011 were converts to Islam, Mr. Kurzman found, slightly higher than the 35 percent of those charged since the 2001 attacks. His new report is based on the continuation of research he conducted for a book he published last year, “The Missing Martyrs: Why There Are So Few Muslim Terrorists.”
The decline in cases since 2009 has come as a relief to law enforcement and counterterrorism officials. In that year, the authorities were surprised by a series of terrorist plots or attacks, including the killing of 13 people at Fort Hood, Tex., by an Army psychiatrist...

There are times when an unfortunate name can come back to haunt someone even when he or she had nothing to do with the original moniker. Think ofRick Perry’s ranch, or a Florida mosque named for a terrorist icon.
The Islamic Community of Tampa, also known as the al-Qassam mosque, hosts an ironic event Friday evening with the local Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) chapter. The open house aims to advance “understanding Islam.” Speakers will discuss Muslim beliefs and try to clear up “misconceptions about Islam, and Islam’s condemnation of terrorism,” a promotional release said.
That’s a difficult sell when the mosque exalts Izzedin al-Qassam, who remains an inspirational figure to Palestinian terrorists. Hamas named its terrorist operations branch for al-Qassam. Most rockets fired from Gaza toward Israeli homes and schools are called Qassam rockets.
“The [Palestinian] Islamic Jihad’s supporters have elevated him almost to a saintly status,” wrote Palestinian academic Ziad Abu Amr in his book Islamic Fundamentalism in the West Bank and Gaza. It was al-Qassam who merged religion and violence, advocating “God’s book in one hand, and the rifle in the other.”
Echoing Al-Qassam, both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have charters rejecting any peaceful resolution to the conflict with Israel. Islamic Jihad calls for “The creation of a state of terror, instability and panic in the souls of Zionists and especially the groups of settlers, and force them to leave their houses.” Hamas dismisses peace talks as a game beneath Palestinian dignity. “There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. The initiatives, proposals and International Conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility. The Palestinian people are too noble to have their future, their right and their destiny submitted to a vain game.”
It is fairly rare for a mosque to be named for an individual. A plaque outside the mosque hails al-Qassam as the one who “declared Jihad against the British and Zionist invasion of Palestine. He was martyred on November 19, 1935 in Yabrod, Palestine. Al-Qassam has become a symbol of heroism, resistance, occupation, and invasion of steadfast Palestine.”
The mosque’s name changed in 1989 when it was run by Sami Al-Arian, a University of South Florida computer scientist who secretly served on the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s shura council, or governing board. Al-Arian sheltered other board members, including Secretary General Ramadan Shallah. Shallah took over the Islamic Jihad in 1995, just six months after leaving Tampa.
A year earlier, when evidence shows Al-Arian was fighting to keep the Islamic Jihad alive in the face of a financial crisis, Al-Arian wrote to immigration officials on Al-Qassam Mosque letterhead seeking a work visa for Shallah to be the mosque’s imam.
In interviews for Investigative Project on Terrorism Executive Director Steven Emerson’s “Jihad in America” documentary and a subsequent newspaper investigation, Al-Arian denied the mosque’s name indicated any bond with the Jihad or other terrorists. Al-Qassam “became a symbol in Palestine of the first to resist and fight for freedom,” he said in 1995. “He was strengthened by religion and devotion to God.”
Federal agents arrested Al-Arian nine years ago and he has not been back to the mosque since. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide services to the Islamic Jihad and records make clear his prominent role in the organization. In all those years, however, mosque leaders have not thought to rid their house of worship of Al-Qassam’s name.
But they plan to welcome the public Friday evening to persuade the public they stand for the opposite of al-Qassam’s message of “God’s book in one hand, and the rifle in the other.”
It would be like hosting a forum on the South’s historic embrace of integration at the Church of the Martyr Bull Connor.
Both the mosque and CAIR seem oblivious.
“Ignorance leads to misunderstanding, which in turn leads to fear, hatred, discrimination, and even violence,” said CAIR-Tampa executive director Hassan Shibly in the release. “By reaching out and getting to know each other, we can love each other as a community and recognize that our differences need not divide us.”
But violence was at the heart of al-Qassam’s message. Jihad, he said, was the only path to freedom. According to a booklet issued by the Islamic Association for Palestine, an arm in a Hamas-support network, al-Qassam instructed followers that “Jihad is a religious obligation till the Judgement (sic) Day. We all need to do Jihad in the name of God to free our countries from the colonialist to become Islamic States that apply God’s laws.
“Arm yourself no matter what are the circumstances. Sell everything you have and buy weapons to fight the occupation.”
The mosque maintains a significant link to the Al-Arian era through its president, Noor Salhab. In the early 1990s, Salhab leased his home to Al-Arian as office space for a think-tank called the World and Islam Studies Enterprise, where Shallah was a director.
Years later, another tenant drew scrutiny from federal law enforcement. Ahmed Mohamed was arrested by police in South Carolina with a trunk load of explosive material and a laptop containing jihadi videos. Mohamed posted one such video to Youtube, showing would-be jihadists how to make remote-controlled bombs “to be used against those who fight for the United States” since he considered them and their allies fighting in Arab countries to be “invaders.”
Federal agents searched the house in 2007, looking for bomb-making ingredients including PVC pipes, chemicals, hacksaws and soldering irons. Mohamed is serving 15 years after pleading guilty to providing material support to terrorists.
Salhab is not responsible for his tenants’ behavior. And leasing a house to two separate people implicated in terror-support cases could happen to anyone, right? But if the mosque and its partners in CAIR truly are interested in correcting misconceptions about their faith, they might start by removing the name as a show of sincerity.

Three Killed in renewed attacks on Black Libyans

Libya’s Bantustans. Driven from their homes by the genocidal Misurata NATO-backed rebels, Black Libayns from Tawargha now languish in camps as the world watches.
he Misrata Brigade have begun shooting at and attacking civilians in a refugee camp in Janzour containing approximately 1,500 refugees from the now obliterated town of Tawergha, close to Misrata.
The area surrounding the camp has been closed off by the brigade preventing any help from reaching the refugees.
Doctors in Central Tripoli Hospital have confirmed that they have already received the bodies of one man and one woman from the camp. (AFP reported three deaths today).
Residents in Tripoli, including the Tawerghan community outside of the camp who are unable to help their fellow countrymen, are pleading with the international community to spread awareness about the attack and to stop the attack which is continuing at this moment.
The racist crimes committed by the Misrata Brigade against the town of Tawergha, which is mainly populated by Black Libyans, has been well documented by international human rights organisations and and the global mainstream media. They are infamous for scrawling on the walls on the road to Tawergha, that they, the Misrata brigade are “the brigade for the purging of the skins of slaves, Black skins.”

Abu Qatada is known as a dangerously radical preacher. So what has he actually been saying?
ABU QATADA has been called the “most significant extremist preacher in the UK”, “al-Qaeda’s spiritual leader in Europe” and “a truly dangerous individual”. News of his upcoming release from jail this week - albeit on stringent bail conditions – has caused outrage, with even his defence team suggesting he poses a “grave risk” to national security.
Why is Abu Qatada being freed and can he ever be deported?
So what does this radical Muslim cleric actually preach? Here are some of the things he has said since 1993 when he came to Britain from Jordan on a forged passport, requesting asylum on the grounds of religious persecution:
1. A 1995 ‘fatwa’ issued by Abu Qatada justified the killing of anyone in Algeria who converted from Islam, including their wives and children.
2. In 1997, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute, Abu Qatada called on Muslims to kill the wives and children of Egyptian police and army officers.
3. In October 1999, according to the British case against him, Abu Qatada made a speech in which, The Guardian reported, “he effectively issued a fatwa authorising the killing of Jews, including Jewish children”.
4. In 1999 Abu Qatada told his congregation at Finsbury Park Mosque that Americans should be attacked, wherever they were; that in his view they were no better than Jews; and that there was no difference between English people, Jews and Americans.
5. In a 2001 sermon, shortly after 9/11, Abu Qatada said the al-Qaeda attacks on the US were part of a wider battle between Christendom and Islam, and were a response to America’s unjust policies.
6. In autumn 2002, a poem attributed to Abu Qatada, appeared online praising Osama bin Laden and glorifying the attacks.
7. In another sermon he is said to have stated that it was not a sin for a Muslim to kill a non-believer for the sake of Islam.
Abu Qatada is wanted on terrorism charges in the United States, Belgium, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Algeria and his native Jordan. His comments are often quoted on radical Islamic websites. ·

Abu Qatada al-Filistini
On June 17, amidst much furor, a British Special Immigration Appeals Committee (SIAC) allowed the release on bail of Abu Qatada al-Filistini, a radical preacher described by Spanish counter-terror judge Baltasar Garzon as “al-Qaeda’s spiritual ambassador to Europe.” Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said she was “extremely disappointed” by the ruling, adding that she would appeal it. In the meantime, Abu Qatada was released from Long Lartin prison to join his family at a £800,000 home in West London, where he is under virtual house arrest. Only allowed out for two hours a day, Qatada wears an electronic tag, is not allowed to use the internet, computers or mobile telephones. He is also forbidden to visit mosques, lead prayers or give religious instruction. Police have powers to search his home at their discretion, and he has a rather comical list of individuals who he is banned from meeting with, including Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri and imprisoned preacher Abu Hamza al-Masri. Aside from his solicitors and family, all other visitors must be approved by the Home Secretary (BBC, June 18; Times, June 19).
This entire process would appear to be a vindication of Qatada’s own boast to his followers after his first arrest in 2002 when he claimed Britain’s “ponderous extradition laws meant that it was far from certain he would ever be expelled” [1]. To the horror of observers, the entire process was repeated on July 3, 2008, when the same court released an Algerian man the British press can only identify as “U,” though it has been revealed in the foreign press that the suspect is likely to be Abu Doha (New York Times, July 4). While he is to have equally rigid bail conditions, the release of this individual—who is suspected of being involved in the LAX bombing attempt in December 1999 and the plot to attack the Christmas market in Strasbourg in December 2000—is seen as a further blow to British counter-terrorism efforts (Telegraph, July 3).
The release of these two individuals may soon be followed by more, as the British judicial system contends with a double problem in these terrorist cases. First is the inability of British prosecutors to produce evidence that will stand up in court—something which is, in part, the result of the inadmissibility in court of wiretap evidence, a reality that is currently under review—and secondly, the inability of Britain to deport individuals such as these back to their home countries due to EU and UK laws stating that individuals cannot be deported to nations where they may be tortured (Jordan in Abu Qatada’s case, and Algeria in “U’s”). While such concerns were meant to have been addressed with “memorandums of understanding” that the British government signed with Libya, Jordan and Lebanon concerning the treatment of such returnees, British courts decided that other concerns remain—in Abu Qutada’s case there were fears that evidence used in his Jordanian conviction may have been obtained through torture (Sunday Mirror, June 22).
The Life and Times of Abu Qatada
Born in Bethlehem when it was still part of Jordan in 1960, Abu Qatada first came to the UK in September 1993 on a forged passport from the United Arab Emirates. While it remains unclear exactly where he was coming from, he was apparently in Peshawar in 1990, where he attracted many followers before going into Afghanistan in 1992 after fighting had ended in Kabul (CNN, November 3, 2001). Upon arriving in the UK and gaining asylum in June 1994, Qatada started to get involved in the London Islamist scene, eventually becoming one of “Londonistan’s unholy trinity” (the other two being Abu Hamza and Omar Bakri Mohammed) [2]. He quickly adopted the Algerian jihad as his focus, and became editor of the al-Ansar Newsletter while preaching and writing from London in support of the Groupe Islamique Armé’s (GIA) actions [3].
This continued until mid-1996, when, in the face of widespread condemnation throughout the Arab world of the GIA’s brutal targeting of civilians, Abu Qatada denounced the group as “innovators” and formally cut his ties [4]. His work was not, however, solely focused on Algeria and he raised thousands of pounds for Islamist groups around the world. When he was questioned in February 2001, he was found to have £170,000 in cash, including an envelope with £805 in it labeled “for the mujahideen in Chechnya” (BBC, February 26, 2007). He also acted as a mentor for another London preacher, Abu Hamza, reportedly calling him “the best student he ever had” and being “very impressed [at] how quickly Abu Hamza memorized the Koran and Hadith” under his tutelage [5].
While in London it is alleged that Abu Qatada was directly involved in plots abroad, with the Jordanian government trying and sentencing him to life imprisonment in absentia for a bombing plot timed to coincide with the Millennium and investigators connecting him with terrorism cells in Spain, France, Italy and Belgium (Washington Post, July 10, 2005; Guardian, August 11, 2005). Both 9/11’s “20th hijacker” Zacarias Moussaoui and “shoe bomber” Richard Reid sought religious advice from him and he was a known figure at the infamous Finsbury Park Mosque in London (BBC, February 26, 2007). Most ominously, tapes of his sermons were found in the Hamburg flat used by Muhammad Atta and others before the 9/11 attacks.
At various points, it has been claimed that Abu Qatada was an informant for Britain’s Security Service MI5, something that is sometimes pointed to as the reason for why Britain’s services failed to interdict him in the face of an apparent litany of allegations by continental European intelligence services [6]. It is also claimed that during the mid-1990s, he met with MI5 agents and offered to help ensure that terrorist attacks would not take place in the UK (BBC, February 26, 2007). The final piece of evidence that is offered is the fact that he disappeared from MI5’s surveillance just before he was due to be arrested in December 2001, even though he was finally found elsewhere in London 10 months later, “a few minutes’ walk from MI5’s headquarters” [7]. While on the run he remained in close contact with jihadists around the globe through the internet—apparently including Abu Musab al Zarqawi—as well as issuing a legal ruling justifying the 9/11 attacks.
The Wit and Wisdom of Abu Qatada
Amongst Britain’s radical preachers, Abu Qatada usually distinguished himself as the most erudite and productive in literary terms of “Londonistan’s unholy trinity.” Omar Nasiri, who worked undercover in London for British and French intelligence and attended a number of his lectures, identified him as “very intelligent [and] very learned,” speaking a language of jihad that Nasiri noted as “almost identical” to that used in the Afghan training camp he had attended [8]. Qatada’s writing advocates the separation between the Muslim and non-Muslim world; his most cited text, Islamic Movements and Contemporary Alliances, details the dangerous development of Muslim “involvement in alliances with modern non-Islamic powers,” providing an analysis of numerous instances across the Muslim world where this has not worked [9].
He further expounds in his sermons on the concept of a “covenant of security” (aqd al-amaan), explaining that “the land of kufr is considered as a land of war. The exception is if the land has a contract with the Muslims.” However, he qualifies this by citing that “some scholars limit it to 10 years, and the reason they say this is in order for the Muslims to not abandon the jihad against the kuffar” [10]. In other words, he offers a possible time limit for the covenant of security between Muslims and non-Muslims that was often offered as the justification for the lack of attacks in the UK before 7/7. From his new perch in Beirut, Omar Bakri Muhammad recently stated that he left the UK in August 2005 because he felt “the government had violated the ‘covenant of security’ that had hitherto guaranteed peace between Muslims and the British state” (Asia Times, June 12).
In a lengthy series of sermons entitled Sil silatul Iman (the Belief Series), Qatada lays out much of his belief structure. He opens by detailing the presence of three circles of Muslims within the Umma, beginning with “The Muslims,” in other words the 1 billion or so community around the globe, who have within them the more selective “Saved Sect” and finally within this sub-group, the “Victorious Sect” [11]. He then goes on in great detail to answer a vast number of theological questions and definitions, before turning to the topic of jihad. In response to the question “What is required in order to establish an Islamic state?” Abu Qutada replied that “dignity is only established through jihad” [12]. After a long series of detailed explanations, Abu Qutada justifies the use of jihad:
"It is jihad that breaths life into the ummah [Muslim community]. It is the jihad that distinguished the Muslim from the hypocrite. We must be proud that we are the tool that Allah uses against the kuffar to punish them. What is this life that’s so precious to us? It is worse than that of a dog, this humiliated and submissive life where the ummah is subjected to the worst of crimes, and groups still insist that Muslims should use peaceful measures in order to bring change. How ignorant!” [13]
Some have accused Abu Qatada of making permissible “the killing of women and children… [and] using other people’s money by any means, claiming that such monies were the spoils of war” [14]. In the context of his Iman sermons, this does not seem too far off, as he concludes that the blood of both apostates and their women is halal (permissible) and “that the wealth that belongs to the group is permissible. Therefore you are permitted to steal it from them, and even assassinate its members” [15]. To support this process of justification, Abu Qatada cites the 9th-10th century Persian Sunni historian Imam Tabari and 13th-14th century Islamic scholar Ibn Taimiyah, a frequently cited authority for today’s Islamists.
Conclusion
In his ruling on the decision to release Abu Qatada, Justice Mitting stated: “The appellant represents a continuing and significant risk to national security,” and the Home Secretary has declared the government will fight this decision [16]. Nonetheless, Abu Qatada now rests comfortably in West London in an £800,000 house, living with his family on welfare from the British government amounting to more than £50,000 a year (Daily Mail, June 23). For some this is merely a reflection of the “fair play” in the British legal system, however, it has left many counter-terrorism experts exasperated and raises concerns over how the UK will manage to deal with the 2,000 dangerous individuals currently under surveillance by the Security Services.
With the recent collapse of cases against “lyrical terrorist” Samina Malik and the so-called “Bradford Five,” the British legal system has shown it has a real problem in convicting individuals it alleges are domestic terrorists (Times, June 18; Guardian, February 14). The release to house arrest of Abu Qatada, one of the more infamous names in extremist literature around the globe, has merely reinforced the fact that this problem extends to foreigners in the UK as well. While an argument could be made that such rulings deflate Muslim perceptions of xenophobia in the British legal system, the reality is that very real security concerns are not going away and a quick read of many of the chatrooms or webpages frequented by British Muslims would indicate that British “fair play” is not filtering through to the community. The surprising release of Abu Qatada makes it clear that many fissures existing in the current system of dealing with domestic terrorist threats remain in need of repair.

BARCELONA, Spain — Bullfighting is now illegal in the Spanish province of Catalonia. Some arenas have been converted into business spaces.
But Muslims want to turn the most famous arena, the Coliseum, into a giant mosque.
In fact, some cities in Spain now look more like the Middle East. Muslims, who once ruled most of nation, are returning in large numbers.
In the city of Salt, parents have come to pick up their children from school. Muslims already make up 40 percent of city residents and will soon be the majority.
But the city government has pushed back, placing a one-year hold on a large mosque project funded by radical Wahhabis in Saudi Arabia.
For good measure, someone cursed the ground at the building site with a pig head that was still there when CBN News arrived. Islamic law forbids the building of a mosque on ground soiled by pigs.
But the number of Muslims in Salt is increasing so rapidly, it is now only a matter of time before Muslims will be running the city.
“When the first Muslim political party presents itself, all the Muslims will vote for it, and we’ll all end up wearing headscarves. We’re in a really big problem,” Salt city councilwoman Maria Osuna told CBN News.
Immigration or Invasion?
In the 7th century, Muslim armies conquered most of Spain, calling it Al-Andulus. They would not be completely expelled for 700 years, the year Columbus discovered the new world.
Now Muslims are returning, and polls suggest they are not returning to be Spaniards. A Pew survey found that 7 out of 10 Muslims in Spain think of themselves as Muslim rather than Spaniards.
“Plataforma x Catalunya,” or Platform for Catalonia, was the first political party to take the Muslim surge seriously. But in politically correct Spain, which celebrated the 1,300-year anniversary of the Muslim invasion as a good thing, Platform for Catalonia is denounced as racist and xenophobic.
Platform leader Joseph Anglada said his party is not against immigrants. They’re against uncontrolled immigration and what they say are immigrants who do not want to be a part of Spain.
“Muslim immigrants are not here to adapt,” Anglada said. “They’re here to conquer.”
“First the husband comes as the head of the family,” he explained. “Then the wife and children, and later he comes with his parents, in-laws,and grandparents, and it has turned into an invasion.”
‘Mysterious’ Dog Poisonings
In the city of Lleida, someone is poisoning dogs. Police don’t know who has been doing it, but the suspicion is that Muslims were the culprits.
Before the poisonings, Muslims were trying to get city government to ban dogs from public transport and public areas because they consider dogs unclean.
“What happened was, all of a sudden, one day, 12 to 14 animals showed up dead. They had eaten something or been given something. We don’t know,” Josep Ortiz I Llleida told CBN News.
Lleida, which is about one-quarter Muslim, was the first Spanish city to ban the burqa. Then the mayor shut down the city’s mosque because it was overflowing with Friday worshippers.
CBN News went to see where the Muslim men are praying now, and it is a large open air pavilion. Filming with a hidden camera, we saw more than 500 men listening to a sermon in Arabic.
“We don’t know what the Muslim leaders are telling their people,” Moises Font with Platform for Catalonia said. “Are they encouraging Muslims to assimilate or to stay separate?”
Spaniards Disappearing
There are reportedly more than 100 radical Wahhabi mosques in Spain. And two radical Muslim TV channels from the Middle East are now broadcasting into Spain.
And just as Muslim immigration is surging, the native Spanish are slowly disappearing. Their birth rate is below the replacement number.
Also, large numbers of college age Spaniards are fleeing the country to escape a 50 percent unemployment rate for young people.
Meanwhile, the Muslim birthrate is at least twice the native birthrate, and the number of Muslims has increased tenfold in the last 20 years.
A secret report by Spanish intelligence leaked to the media found that radical groups from the Middle East are pouring large sums of money into Spain to control the nation’s Muslims.
“The greatest threat for Spain, Catalonia, and Europe is Muslim immigration,” Anglada told CBN News.
“We know they are coming here to conquer what, according to Muslims, used to belong to them,” he said. “We have a moral duty so that in the future they can say that at least there was someone, one party, that was not willing to surrender the West to Islamization.”

Most of the money raised by the brothers came from themselves or other family members. They collected less than $100,000 from other people — and those contributions also will be returned.
At the time of the donations, the brothers were not registered voters. Alberto Rojas Cardona, 42, registered in Illinois last month and Carlos Rojas Cardona, 50, does not appear to be registered, a Chicago Board of Elections spokesman said.
Alberto Rojas Cardona lives in a Gold Coast high-rise and Carlos in a luxury apartment building overlooking Grant Park. Alberto declined to speak with Tribune reporters. Messages left at Carlos’ home were not returned.
Manny Sanchez is a Chicago lawyer and Obama fund-raiser who helps raise money among Hispanics. He said he met Alberto and Carlos Cardona at an Obama National Finance Committee meeting in Washington last December. He was struck that he did not know the Chicagoans because “it is rare for me not to know a Latino supporter.”
According to records in the Illinois Secretary of State office, the brothers are Near North Side residents — living close to the Obama campaign Prudential Building headquarters. According to Federal Election Commission and state records, they run Tango Latin Inc. and an affiliate, Tango Productions, marketing and promotion firms.
The New York Times also reported that Carlos Rojas Cardona “arranged for the former chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party to seek a pardon from the governor for Pepe Cardona, according to prosecutors in that state. None was forthcoming.”
Asked by the Sun-Times why the campaign vetters — who focus on major donors, not the million or so small contributors — did not pick up on the Cardona family, the senior official said, “it was very difficult to track down full information on this one. Obviously the New York Times put investigative resources into doing so. We don’t necessarily have, our vetters don’t necessarily have, that same ability to pursue that in the case of our 1.3 million donors. As soon as the questions were raised, we refunded the contributions.”

Obama on 2012: ‘This Is Going to Be Tough’
Admitting his re-election is “not a slam-dunk,” President Obama today asked supporters to stick with him in 2012 because “this is going to be tough.”
“It’s understandable if people aren’t feeling as chipper as they were back in 2008,” given the state of the economy, the president said.
“There’s going to be some skepticism. There’s going to be some pushback,” Obama told members of his campaign’s National Finance Committee.

The country still has a ways to go after facing a crossroads in 2008, President Barack Obama said Tuesday as he spoke to top donors for his reelection campaign.
“Back in 2008 we used to talk about this being a historic moment for America, that we were at a crossroads in our history,” he said at a midday event for members of the Obama campaign’s National Finance Committee at a Washington hotel. “We haven’t fully crossed the road, and in some ways 2012 is even more important than it was four years ago. The choices could not be starker.”
All money raised goes to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint account shared by the campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

Something is really, really, really not right
… The New York Times has a really bizarre story on the front page today. I will make some remarks about the story and then there is a link at the bottom for you to read the entire story. I don’t want to run wild with crazy conspiracy stories but there are some really peculiar parts of this New York Time story that warrants further
investigation. First some bullet points:
* Juan Jose Rojas Cardona (“Pepe” and hereinafter I will refer to him as that) lives in Mexico and is part of the casino business (known as Mexico’s casino czar) with a very shady background and record. He is linked to violence and corruption in Mexico. According to a State Department cable in 2009, he was suspected of orchestrating the assassination of a business rival and making illegal campaign donations to Mexican officials;
* Pepe is wanted in the USA for state charges in Iowa going back to the early 1990′s. After his Iowa conviction in the early 90′s, he was sentenced to 5 years but then he jumped bail on the Iowa conviction.
* THE STRANGEST THING HAPPENED IN 1998 – 4 years after his plea of guilty to Federal charges. I have never seen this happen before — Federal Prosecutors, even though Pepe had jumped bail a second time (and thus avoiding prison) and was in Mexico beyond their reach, went to a Federal Judge and convinced the Judge to quash the indictment.

Panel: Hospitals should consider mandatory flu shots
Snip: WASHINGTON -- If hospitals and clinics can't get 90% of their employees to get an annual flu shot, they should "strongly consider" making the vaccine mandatory, a federal vaccines panel voted Wednesday.
The National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) voted 12-2, with one panelist abstaining, that if hospitals and healthcare facilities implement a number of NVAC-endorsed recommendations -- including staff training and trying to create a culture where flu shots are the norm -- and still fail to get 90% of workers vaccinated, they should consider a mandate.
The "magic won" should be soooo proud of how the arab spring turned out.
RE: flu shot....my husband was hospitalized last year. He asked the nurses that he saw if they ever got a flu shot. Out of the 5 he asked, 4 said "NO!" I thought that was interesting. Even our DIL (who's an R.N.) refuses the flu shot.
The dems won't be satisfied until they control EVERY aspect of our lives.

It is likely to provoke a wave of shock and indignation within the North American media industry, and it certainly will not calm down the controversy over the pro-palestinian CNN treatment of the conflict.
We learned today that the Israeli branch of CNN, located in Jerusalem, is downsizing to cope with reduced income from less advertising.
What goes beyond good management is that CNN has fired four Israeli Jewish journalists (out of a crew of 8), and has retained only Arab journalists. Where, until now, CNN always sent a Jewish and an Arab journalist to cover information, now there will be only an Arab journalist. The local chief editor of the News Chanel is now Arabic.
This is a conflict where information is central to public opinion, and it weighs a lot on diplomatic decisions. Furthermore, it is no secret that Arab journalists cannot freely publish what they want without risking for their own lives when traveling to Gaza, East Jerusalem, and Judea Samaria. Thus, CNN decision to fire all Jewish journalists from its Jerusalem office is of particular concern, because the general public is unaware that they will be receiving biased information from CNN.
This is probably a natural for the Threat Matrix: Would we have had Anders behring Breivik if a Norwegian company hadn’t obstructed our work for its own antizionist, jihadfriendly and far leftist reasons?
