"The illegals I met last night."
Self | 1/1/2012 | Bern Pearson

Posted on 01/01/2012 8:10:22 AM PST by Gen.Blather

I met some illegal Mexicans last night at a party. Several years ago I stayed with a couple of wonderful Mexican families in the Baja below California. These were well-off people. The homes, on average were beautifully tiled and some of them had mahogany inlaid walls, bookshelves and cabinetry that would cost a hundred-thousand dollars here. So, I’m guessing if they aren’t rich they’re very comfortable. The elderly not as well-off grandfather, while living in Mexico was receiving Social Security from the United States and owned a rent-free apartment in California which he used as his address to receive several forms of assistance checks from Californian agencies. He visited the apartment once a week to re-arrange things and make it looked lived in. He had a car, a Toyota Corolla that looked quite nice and had working air-conditioning. I gathered it was supplied as some form of assistance and he generally left it in California at the apartment. The apartment was about 1100 square feet and very livable. The grandfather told me most of entire complex, easily a 1000 units, were like him, on Californian assistance, but actually living in Mexico.

At the party were a couple of teenage boys from this family. Very nice kids. I’d be proud to have them as my own; diligent, hard working, trouble-free and much more adult than you’d expect from that age. They told me that they’d decided to go to high school in California instead of Mexico. They said that the (California) government gave them an apartment and they travel back to Mexico on the weekends. (I don’t know if they’re staying alone or if a family member is staying with them, but if I had to guess, they came alone.)

When I posted information on this family last time, Freepers angrily asked why I hadn’t reported them. Firstly, I was a well-treated guest. Secondly, this must be obvious to the casual observer. Even if I knew who to report it to in California, which I don’t, it is obvious that this is how it’s done. These people are only taking advantage of “benefits” put there for them. Not to avail themselves of these benefits would be like deciding not to take candy freely offered to you.

IMHO.

*Scoff*. Respectfully, my humble opinion has a much higher degree of humility than yours. Of all the humble opinions I've seen or heard, mine is the most humble.

IMHO.

I can tell you plenty about being raped by the system!!!!! You have no clue what that is really like. I am glad, for your sake, that you have “planned” for “eventualities”, but have you planned for ALL of them? I doubt that very much. Not many of us are fortunate enough to have any extra funds left over once the bills and taxes are paid. Many of us have had our 401(K)s pretty much wiped out by the economic “downturn” and the raiding of pension funds to cover corporate debt.... We have nothing left. And the big ponzi scheme that is Social Security is anything but secure. They’ve raided those funds, too. Those who perpetrate fraud, and I include sitting Congress Critter, should be shot. We can’t recall them for perpetrating fraud against us, we can’t even try them - their buddies in the courts just wink at it all.

I am sick to death of people who sit in self-righteous judgement of others and call them hard luck cases. A healthy and sober session of self-examination and an attitude adjustment are needed. I pray you never have to experience what my friend Monkey Face is dealing with every day. Than again, maybe a dose of it will cure you!

Anoreth had absinthe in some foreign port. She said it was icky, which is pretty strong words considering some of the drinks she doesn’t bother to consider icky.

‘Face, I love you!!! Even when you can’t walk, you offer to carry firewood for me. You are such a blessing.

I fear I got a wee bit riled up with Gaffer’s self righteous tripe so I fired. How dare someone insult you like that! oooooh, that make my blood boil!

Heat is back on, furnace heat exchangers had to be replaced - they were rusted out! Imagine that.....

Let’s have some cocoa, with marshmallows and some ginger snaps. That’ll fix us up for now. Why not?

Why would one who talks to him self speak in the third person? So they would have a third party for a tie breaker. So if one was talking as a left brain and the other right would the third party be out of his/their mind?

Me myself and I were trying to plan a vacation. We got involved and caused all sorts of problems. Because they thought I was not myself. So it was up to me to tell myself that we could not go there. Thanks to myself we came up with a plan. I could never get to there because I am always here. So if we went to “Here and there” staring David Thornton, Mirjana Karanovic and Cyndi Lauper and I stayed here we would be both Here and there and here.

Has she tried Pepsi? I've heard tales of people in third-world countries drinking Pepsi when the water supplies are tainted, but Snopes debunked that.

Evening, y’all. Did you figure out the commercial value of Dick Cheney’s mechanical heart? Will we see it on “Antiques Roadshow”?

My Spanish choir threw me a baby shower this afternoon. They had me completely fooled - told me they were arguing about what music to do later in the month, and I had to mediate because I’m the officially educated hispanic liturgist. Sneaks. I don’t think I’ve had a shower since before Anoreth was born.

Now I have enough tiny pink clothes for a year with the Dionne Quintuplets, I think. There are two or three more little girls expected in the homeschool association in the next three months, so re-gifting is possible. Or, if Baby Whosis spews like some of the siblings did, I’ll be glad I have lots of outfits!

It has begun raining here. The cats are blaming me. Someone walked through the kitchen with something strange on his shoes/feet/paws, because Jake was sniffing the floor, rolling over, sniffing the floor, rolling over. Weirder than usual for Jake.

“Self-sufficiency,” as I was explaining yesterday on the NC Forum, is just another leftoid fantasy. Everyone one of us is dependent on others, from conception to death, and others depend on us. Yes, I suppose that, having reached adulthood through the efforts and sufferance of others, you can die alone in the woods, if that makes you feel good about yourself ... but any more impressive plans than that can be wiped out without a moment’s notice. Ask Steve Jobs about how much good “having everything” did. Oh, wait, you can’t ...

There’s a legitimate discussion about the best means by which members of society should assist one another, but we can’t be having it here when we’re busy exploring our multiple personalities, now can we?

Thanks, LoM.
It was all I could do to bite my tongue, but as with my nasty neighbor, I refused to lower myself to the level s/he was was trying to bait me on.

God is my Judge, and no other. I refuse to be sucked in by someone else’s self-righteous judgement of me and my life. No one knows but me, what I have REALLY had to endure. Ignorance and stupidity of my situation are the least of my worries.

I refuse to curse anyone with what I have, but I also send a cautionary statement: Beware: What goes around, comes around.

And I am experiencing the beginnings of a migraine headache, dang me. I love you, Girl. And if I could, I would be there to help you.

They are! I shouldn’t have believed they were actually having an argument about anything, but I’m rather severely flaky right now, and I’ll fall for any crazy story. (Like, I believed Bill’s up to schedule on his math, without seeing it ...)

ThomasThomas, I served with Cyndi Lauper, I knew Cyndi Lauper, Cyndi Lauper was a friend of mine. ThomasThomas, you are no Cyndi Lauper.

You look better in muted earth tones.

Hugs back, and a kick from Baby. I don’t have time tomorrow or Monday. Tuesday would be okay, because we’d be back home for a flurry of Scoutiness next Saturday.

I forgot to mention, they actually *started work* on Bill’s Eagle Scout project today - dug holes in the ground and set posts for the building he’s putting up. DP says they put the posts further apart than planned, so they need to redesign the roof to cover a larger space!

I can imagine them trying to come up with a plan to fool you. They must have had fun, with that and the shower. :)
