Herman Cain: A Final Word (I just did not like the way the whole "Cain thing" went down)
American Thinker ^ | 12/26/2011 | Lloyd Marcus

Posted on 12/26/2011 6:36:16 AM PST by SeekAndFind

I would not blame Herman Cain if he said, Lloyd, I know you mean well, brother. However, the relentless vitriolic media attacks against me have finally subsided since I dropped out of the presidential race. My family and I are finally having some peace. So why on earth would you bring up my name again?

Well, in a nutshell, I just did not like the way the whole "Cain thing" went down. Also, we live in a fast-paced news cycle, "carelessly nuke a person's life and in two days everyone has moved on," disposable world. Herman Cain's courageous bid to serve his country deserves more than "Cain...wasn't he the black dude sex fanatic who ran for president as a Republican?"

OK, Cain is gone, and we conservatives must focus on selecting our candidate to defeat Obama in 2012. I got it. But it breaks my heart, seeing what happened to this "good man." Cain was attacked from both sides of the aisle. A few conservative pundits even accused Cain of not seriously seeking the Oval Office, but instead simply seeking self-promotion.

Please do not get me wrong. I realize that playing with the big boys in the national arena is tough. I just did not realize how much tougher and how blatantly unfair it is for conservatives. As a conservative seeking to win the Republican presidential nomination, Cain endured a deep rectal vetting not required even of our current president. As a matter of fact, we still know very little about Obama's history.

You are right.
Now I just can't wait until Gingrich is nominated and the Democrats start running ads about the “First Home Wrecker” and Newt's faithfulness all his life.

I have to agree with you on cain... he was my guy, but when the going got tough, he folded like a house of cards... that in and of itself removes him from my consideration...

Palin, on the other hand, was my gal, until she played the string ‘em along game.... this removes her from my consideration...

I guess with a sigh, i will have to throw my support to newt ( at least with him i will not have to hold my nose )..

daffy duck will get my vote before mcromney..

Herman could have won the presidency with women problems. If only he came out strong on it first.

“I’m not perfect. The marriages of candidates are not for public discussion. What matters is that my wife and I have come through it all and love each other very much. I have stepped up to the plate to serve you with real conservative principles and take the country back toward freedom. My transgressions are hardly important. None of us, including our greatest black and white American men through history, is perfect in this regard. But watch and see what a strong man with a bold plan, flawed though he may be, can do for you, yours, and all of America by getting back to the limited government the founders intended!”

Cain could have won it all, and diffused gotcha politics for everyone coming after him.

From what I have read at a few sites, he apparently drank too much and liked the ladies. He did himself in.

When Herman responded to the Ginger white thing by admitting he knew her for 13 years, was supporting her financially without the wifes knowledge and then responded to the story by saying repeatedly, the well parsed words: “MANY of these allegations are untrue” I knew it was over.

He also didn't deny the middle of the night calls/texts - a sign of an intimate relationship. If he was innocent he should have fought the allegations for the sake of the cause.

And if the GOP electorate nominates Gingrich then they admit not being bothered by his antics and must deal with the blitz of media attacks/ads when they develop. One can seek redemption and change but likewise they can revert back to their ways of the past. Either morality matters or it doesn’t, so GOP which will it be?

How is Palin’s lawsuit against Joe McGinniss’s book coming along?

The sad thing about Newt as the standard bearer, is that the media will make the Obama’s out to be the “All American” family.

I am not judging Newt by saying that, I am just recognizing reality.

Alleged bimbos aside, I'd still vote for Cain if he was in.

If the GOP forces Romney upon us (and no Independent candidate is worthy), there's a good chance Cain will be my write-in.

Lol.

I actually might even buy they stupid book, if she’d just re-enter the race.

Heck I bought two copies of Going Rogue, and attended the opening day showing of “The Undefeated”.

Sure. Why not. Just for some dissenting views. :D

BRING BACK PALIN.

I don’t see it as BS, because how do you explain the trashing of a candidate who was only accused of adultry and the finding of him not being worthy and yet the embracement of a self-acknowledged serial adultry as being the hero of the conservative movement?

First they came for Perry but I didn't speak out because I wasn't for Perry.

Then they came for Cain but I didn't speak out because I wasn't for Cain.

Then they came for Gingrich but I didn't speak out because I wasn't for Gingrich

Then they came for Paul but I didn't speak out because Paul is crazy

Then they came and gave us Willard Stiles Romney as our nominee and said BWHAHAHAHHAH there is no lone left to oppose him

The reality is - Newt committed adultery - got divorced and married his ‘lovers’. We have accepted that he was having those 2 serious love affairs while ‘happily’???? married. He admitted to personal failures as a husband. That is the reality today.

Herman presented himself as in a solid marriage of 40+ years. Then he was accused of acting ‘inappropriately’ ouside of that marriage- which was very disappointing and out of kilter with whom we believed Herman to be; a man of character.

This only shows that we had more ‘affection’ for Herman and less tolerance for any alleged ‘flaws’ and he handled it badly.

With Newt - the laundry was already out in the sunshine.
