Today is the last day of Gov. Rick Perry's pre-Christmas Iowa bus tour. Perry will return Friday to Texas for a brief Christmas break, then it's back to campaigning.
The Perry campaign has called the bus tour a chance for Iowans to give the Texas governor a second look. As the tour progressed, Perry refined his message and appeared to excite crowds, and by Wednesday afternoon he had assumed the role of a political outsider, which he used at each campaign stop.
We need someone who will walk in who has the discipline, who has the courage to break up that old system an outsider," Perry told a crowd in Muscatine. "And I want to make this pact with you as I wrap up. Ill have your back in Washington, D.C., for the next four years. God bless you and thank you for coming out here today."
Bob Wise came from Iowa City to hear Perry in Muscatine. He says he came to the event undecided but left a Perry supporter.

If he gets less than 10%, he’s probably toast but remember that Iowans often choose somebody who doesn’t win the nomination. Remember Howard Dean?
What Perry needs is enough support to stay credible and then to outlast enough others to become the sensible alternative to Newt, Mitt and Paul, all of whom I consider unfit for the office.
LOL! How has Perry “gained Traction”?
Throwing gravel under the wheels of his campaign bus is only thing that will give the tour bus “traction”.
Perry’s poll numbers are still just as stagnant as ever. In fact he has gone down, down, down. And now stuck at 6.6% and his progress or decline is measured in “tenths” of a percent.
HA Push Polls aren’t telling the real deal out there. Besides, when a person receives a poll call and they push the button for Perry and at the end of the call it says thanks for voting for Newt Gingrich then we know his numbers are awful and it’s Perry Americans will be actually voting for.
Merry Christmas, Psycho.
Condolences about Newt.
I think Perry will end up in the top 4 in IA and after IA Santorum and Bachmann will drop out.
I agree that Perry’s polling, at least in your link, seems mired in the 6 range. But whereas you are gleeful about it, I’m sorry to see it. Perry’s had a great run as TX governor in terms of job creation. If he were more conservative on illegals-already-here and hadn’t been mushmouthed in a couple of early debates, things might have been very different.
Good thing for you that Newt’s own polling numbers are skyrocketing, eh? Oh, wait, I’ve got them upside down ...
Nice analysis, sounds spot on to me.
Don’t count him down and out. All those Newt and Paul supporters will be looking for a viable candidate soon enough.
I hope so. We’ll know pretty soon. I agree that Iowa’s not that important in itself but would give Perry a good publicity boost to score well there.
Giving Perry credit for a state that is a natural hub for industry, it is mostly credited to their conservative legislature. Most of those job based industries or policies were never written by Perry. Perry and his rather foolish following are quick to give credit where it is not due.
Perry did not make Texas what it is. TEXAS made Texas what it is.
Gov.Perry is the only conservative out there, trash him at your, and my, peril.

‘rather foolish following.’
Nice from a Newt guy.
Us Texans are not for Perry, can’t see how any other state would be behind him.
I have no doubt that Newt or Mitt could have messed it up.
This Texan is for Perry, and I can’t wait to hear the big “OOPS” from Fox for underestimating his strength in Iowa on January 3 !
That is just stupid. Texas survived Ann Richards for goodness sake. The state is unbreakable.
