BOSTON December 21, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) One in 13 girls aged 14-to-20, or about 7.7 percent, who participated in a recent study from Boston Universitys School of Public Health said they have engaged in Multi-Person Sex (MPS), reports the Daily Mail. Researchers believe imitation of pornography is a leading cause.
The study involved 328 girls from underprivileged areas of the city who had visited a neighborhood clinic for sexual health issues. However, economic status did not appear to be determinative of risky sexual behavior.
The study found more than half of the girls who had engaged in MPS had been coerced into having group sex by a boy or forced into a gang rape, and one-third of participants had used drugs or alcohol before the encounter. In 45 percent of MPS encounters, at least one male did not use a condom.
The average age when girls began having intercourse with multiple partners was 15.6.
Researchers said the use of pornography by either partner was a primary influence. Girls were five times more likely to engage in MPS if they or their boyfriends had watched porn, said Emily Rothman, an Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the university. Out of those who engaged in MPS, 50 percent did things their partners saw in porn first. Porn may be influencing the sexual behavior of these teens.
The researchers findings give further credence to the conclusions of Canadian filmmaker Sharlene Azam, whose 2009 documentary Oral Sex is the New Goodnight Kiss documented girls as young as 11 going to sex parties and having intercourse with multiple partners. Azam attributed teenage hypersexual behavior to porn consumption.
Patrick A. Trueman, President of Morality in Media, told LifeSiteNews.com, While the [Boston University] report is shocking, it is not altogether a surprise because we know from scientific studies [pornography use] leads one to engage in the same activities that are viewed in the pornographic film.
A 2005 survey found, Unwanted porn found its way to 17% of 10- to 11-year-old boys, 16% of girls 10 to 11 years old.
Trueman, the former Chief of the Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section of the Justice Department, said that pornography distorts an underdeveloped part of teenagers brains known as the prefrontal cortex, which is the home of good decision-making and reasoning.
Scientists and psychologists have concluded this has a lifelong impact on growing boys and girls. While masturbating to porn, the adolescent brain is being shaped around a sexual experience that is isolating, visceral, and completely void of any love or compassion, wrote Alexandra Katehakis of Psychology Today. This has the potential to lead to great problems in sexual compulsivity and sex addiction throughout the adolescent boys life, because his brain gets shaped to expect the heroin-like porn dopamine rush from all of his real-life sexual experiences. This expectation will lead the teen to seek out riskier and more visceral experiences that resonate with his early porn use.
A 2009 CyberSentinel poll claims 13-to-16 year-olds spend almost two hours a week viewing pornography. The average age a child is first exposed to internet pornography is 11.
According to Psychology Today, a 2010 study of 73 Swedish teenagers aged 14-20 revealed that teenage boys who viewed pornography accepted the notion that women are there solely to satisfy the mens needs
more or less uncritically.
Isn’t that Inigo Montoya from “The Princess Bride”?
Cheers!
I don't know. But it does. I used to have a screen name back in the late 90s that I chose specifically to give the impression that I was male. Eventually I "came out" as female with this name. The difference in my treatment was very evident. I prefer conservatives to liberals 10 times out of 10, but the liberal stereotype of conservative men as misogynistic cro-magnons has a tiny, tiny crystal of truth in there. More than once a Freeper who didn't like my views has started in on me with taunts about PMS and how I should go bake cookies like a good little woman. Even within the last 24 hours. I just ignore that type, but... they are here.
Elk, you’d like this joke. My uncle who grew up in the pre PC days of gubmint social engineering for our own good told me....
Guy walks into a doctors office and says
“Doc, I’d like to live to be 130 years old.”
Doc: do you drink?
No
Doc: do you smoke?
No
doc: are you a womanizer?
No
Doc: So then what the hell do you want to live for?
“Porn requires no commitment.....The flip side is the romance novel.”
“Both environments lead to dissatisfaction with a normal partner of the opposite sex.”
Your entire post was extremely well said. Your last sentence is an excellent summation. Reality is never like pornograpy or romance novels. They both create unrealistic expectations that will never be met by a real person. Even putting aside moral considerations, pornography is bad and a blight on society.
So Sola, I guess this means we won’t be seeing you at the next Ron Jeremy Fan Club meeting?
Don't have one. Had 2 of those. Don't want or need another one.
Nowadays, they also ask if you eat red meat and own guns.
At my age I have somewhere between 4 minutes and 40 years to live. Probably closer to 4 minutes. I don't need some cranky-ass woman or partner or whatever you want to call it driving the boat the whole time.
Right before that part where it says you can't talk about Christianity anywhere but at home, in your bedroom.
You would be surprised to know that whole study was a fantasy of a few sexual perverts, right?
Your 2 relationships must have been really bad, I can feel the hate and bitterness all the way over here. I pray you find peace.
“However, for the confusing part, once into the lifestyle, the men were also the first to want to give it up. The women were more apt to report that they missed it. “
Many women are cowed into thinking they aren’t good at sex. Once they’ve had some practice, and they finally understand how much power it affords them, it’s hard not to stop.
Everyone gets better at things with practice. Once you get to like it, the more you practice. The better you get, the more power it affords you.
Porn is addictive like booze, cigs , drugs, et al. It is always bad for people because it keeps unreality for sexual dreams that never do really come true with agape, erotic or fileo love which is the tri-love which makes a man and a woman truly committed and happy.
No, they were actually very good. The first was 6 years and a hottie that had a vision of a career as a medical professional, which she is. DMD from Tuft's in Boston. I was there for all of that and found everything I owned in a Tide box on the front porch one day.
The second was 25.5 years, produced 2 children and 4 grandchildren so far.
As soon as one child had 2 engineering degrees, a job with Lockheed Martin and the other had steady employment as a cop, she decided she wanted to jump off the team and spend several months with her commie sister in both Viet Nam and China.
I asked her, then told her, then begged her not to do that and she would not be deterred.
As she was unpacking, I was packing and I never looked back.
Excellent post, as always C-Wife!
Pornography, obscenity and so on were not considered protected “speech” under the First Amendment until some time in the 1960s, thanks to the ACLU, porn producers especially Larry Flynt IIRC, and a leftist dominated SCOTUS. The actual writers and signers of the Constitution and Constitutional scholars for almost 200 years did not agree.
The legalization of pornography and the cultural decay associated with it and other evils is speeding our collapse.
Pornography is not benign. It is harmful. And according to the article, kids as young as 11 years old commonly watch it. Anyone who thinks that all these young teenagers indulging in pornography are not being harmed has no moral compass.
If you read the whole article, various studies were cited with various conclusions. It wasn’t just one study.
[Porn requires no commitment, no effort, and no risk.]
I disagree that porn poses no risk and will repeat that it skews one’s desires regarding sex. For a Christian it is also a ‘sin of the mind’, just like greed, envy, lust, hatred, etc.
Remember Jimmy Carter saying he had ‘sinned in his thoughts’?
And - don’t fool yourself about those women never wanting anything more than sex. Most women do want more, even the ‘loose’ types. Even prostitutes usually have a desire to ‘find someone’ and live a happier life.
I’m not a ‘romance novel’ afficiano and find them boring and somewhat silly. I much prefer Mystery novels where the evil doer is caught, lol.
[Porn and the purple prose novel...both prescriptions for disappointment, and missing the good that is in reality.]
I agree with you Psalm144. I love to read but prefer reality. I’m not much of a fantasy person.......other than my gif creations, lol. Porn has NO place in my life.
