CNSNews.com) Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, says he has no plans to reverse the Obama administrations repeal of the ban on homosexuals serving in the U.S. military
In an editorial meeting in early November with the Des Moines Register, which endorsed him for the Iowa caucuses pending on Jan. 3, Romney was asked, How do you feel about gays serving openly in the military?
Romney said, Thats already occurred. Im not planning on reversing that at this stage.
The reporter followed up, But youre comfortable with it?

You stated that Newt “would be sodomite friendly too”.
This quote from Newt on Dec.11 in the Wash. Times says you are wrong:
Mr. Gingrich, who is leading in the polls for the GOP presidential nomination, told the Military Culture Coalition he would have voted against allowing open homosexuals in the military and, as president, would favor an extensive review for repeal of the gay ban known as dont ask, dont tell.
Could you please back up your statement?Thank you.
I may not agree with the policy but it appears there to stay. But just because gays get to serve openly doesn’t mean they get a pass on acting professionally in and out of uniform, or get to be cowards in the face of nation’s enemies.
If you are going to be queer in the military, you better be a card carrying killer of men queer. Our very safety and soveriegnty demands it.
Bingo.....!!!!!!
The UCMJ has been changed to allow sodomy, so what is the difference anymore? My son (in the service) tells me this is true because he went through several days worth of training on it not so long ago.
Face it, the military and the country is sunk if it isn’t changed now!
It’s the way things are.......
Agree, Bachmann is the best of the lot, but keep in mind, there are no less than one million potential candidates that would make a far superior president to bo.
DADT should never have been passed in the first place. This was Colin Powell's idea of compromise. All it was was the camel's nose under the tent that evenually led to gays serving openly in the military. Once you acknowledged that being gay did not prevent you from being in the military, it was only a matter of time that it would become open.
When I served in the military in the 1960s and 70s, gays were expressly prohibited from joining the military. Homosexuals were not allowed period.
Trying to overturn the current policy will be very difficult politically and practically. It is worth remembering that it passed the House on December 15, 2010 (Yeas: 250; Nays: 175) and passed the Senate on December 18, 2010 (Yeas: 65; Nays: 31)
Under the rules, the Captain cannot do anything about it. Next a lamb will be on the dock waiting for his sailor. And McCain claims he didn’t know it was in the bill. Sure you didn’t.
“Im just trying to figure what the hell people are seeing in this guy”
OK, and idea for a comment somewhere: “Some think Romney is an enigma, a puzzle. But he’s not. This is the key. Superficially he looks good. At first glance. But dig down a bit, and *everybody* dislikes him.”
A comment I actually just made at dailycaller:
But why attack Perry? I thought the unanimous consensus was that he was a blundering stupid hick who’s done. I think Mitt has heard my argument.
Only Perry can defeat O.
Because only he can inspire the base, such that Christians, and conservatives from every corner, will open their pocketbooks and donate huge $$. Perry will raise $2 billion. Don’t heed current polls. They are worthless. Perry has been trashed, but is rising again. The main thing: polls do not account for the dynamic of Perry spending $2 billion on advertising aimed square at Obama!! Money is going to be the key.
This is the bell weather issue. There is no issue that exemplifies what is wrong. It was and is the big fish. Any candidate that ran on this issue would energize the base and ruffle the establishment like no other. They would win. Too bad that won't happen.
When my husband went in the military during Vietnam, there were gays.
The guys knew who they were.
They didn’t flaunt it though. They may have been forbidden, but they were there.
Outside of Romney's pandering lies and lip service to get conservative support, the man is a complete liar and chameleon. If this party is that far gone and cannot see that in Romney, then all is lost anyway.
With Romney at the helm, he will run this ship on the rocks and America will blame the GOP once again for the entire mess. The result will be that Constitutional Government will be abolished and Socialism/Marxism will take over in the form of Labor Union, crony seudo-Capitalism and Fascist Police State control over everything we do. And Romney will welcome it as “Necessary National Security measures”.
Romney = Fascist, Giant Corporate Oligarchy.
Wait till senior officer's and NCO's are queer. The hump festival will begin in earnest. The Captain's Mast will have new meaning.
There was also a draft then, Now we have an all volunteer military. Huge difference. Go defend the queer nation somewhere else.
Today in Illinois news:
Perry County Sheriff Keith Kellerman is on leave after police in Caseyville, Ill. found him engaged in a sex act with another man in a car parked in front of a tavern. The Perry County Chief deputy is overseeing operations of the department as the State’s Attorney considers legal action.
SO why do we have different rules for a sheriff than our military, huh?
Tell me about it, Ann Coulter a Romneybot? WTF??
So your point is? Are you saying that DADT was the right policy or the one prior to that, a ban on homosexuals?
Romneycare = 0 bummercare [check]
Repeal DADT = repeal DADT [check]
Rmoney = 0 bummer [check]
A new CBS News/ New York Times poll finds that the wording of the question is key when it comes to determining whether Americans support allowing gays to serve in the military.
In the poll, 59 percent say they now support allowing “homosexuals” to serve in the U.S. military, including 34 percent who say they strongly favor that. Ten percent say they somewhat oppose it and 19 percent say they strongly oppose it.
But the numbers differ when the question is changed to whether Americans support “gay men and lesbians” serving in the military. When the question is asked that way, 70 percent of Americans say they support gay men and lesbians serving in the military, including 19 percent who say they somewhat favor it. Seven percent somewhat oppose it, and 12 percent strongly oppose it.
If queers were even suspected, they were greeted with a “Blanket Party” in the dead of night. They were despised and we considered them a threat to the company of fighting men. Especially in combat. Even then, (Before AIDS) it was repulsive to think that one of these perverts may give you blood, or spend time at your hospital bed if you were wounded.
They were hated and reviled by all. And they were certainly unwelcome on patrol or in the foxhole.
