Ron Paul: Rivals say he hates Republicans
Christian Science Monitor ^ | December 21, 2011 | Peter Grier

Ron Paul is now leading in Iowa polls of GOP voters. It’s quite possible – if not likely – that he’ll win the Hawkeye State caucuses on Jan 3. He’s well positioned in New Hampshire, too. Depending on how he does there, Representative Paul could scramble the entire Republican presidential race.

Naturally, in light of Paul’s surge in fortunes, those in the party who disapprove of the Texas libertarian are now moving to attack him.

First up this week was the Weekly Standard, a newsmagazine notable for its (fruitless) efforts to get New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and/or Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin into the GOP race. It ran a piece by journalist James Kirchik about the racist language contained in newsletters issued under Paul’s name in the 1980s and 1990s.

For decades, Mr. Kirchik writes, Paul promoted “hateful and conspiratorial nonsense,” including outlandish tales of racial violence, and hate speech about Martin Luther King, Jr.

This is not a new story – Kirchik and others have written about it in years past. Paul has defended himself by pointing out that he did not write any of this stuff himself and he did not know who the ghost writers producing it were.

Asked about the Kirchik story Tuesday during an appearance on CNN’s “American Morning,” Paul said that it must mean he was doing well, since people are starting to dig up old charges to try to stop him.

“It wasn’t good – but I didn’t write [the stories] and those aren’t my beliefs, so I sleep well,” said Paul.

Then Wednesday the conservative blog RedState posted a piece titled, “Ron Paul Hates Republicans and Everything They Stand For.”

Written by contributing editor Leon Wolf, the piece focuses on

Pretty easy to despise the Republicans and the Democrats. They have destroyed America in the last 30 year. Killed all the hope for the younger generation, shipped all the jobs overseas along with the Patriot Act and meaningless wars.

I cannot wait to see the dismantling of the current government “servants”

The people here how know “better” how to run peoples lives need to be ignored. Trillions of the failed “War on Drugs” and they want more. Not enough crime, bloodshed and prisons for these folks.

They had their chances (40 years) and they screwed up this Country beyond hope. This generation of people are the most embarrassing in the history of the United States.

Employers already drug-test. What’s your point??

Legalize something, and you get more of it. Going by your logic, why not legalize murder?? People are going to do it anyway... *Rolls eyes*

So I suppose you think the South had the “right” to “own” slaves???

Or should slavery, like abortion, be left up to the states??

I’m hoping you mean some things that Republicans do, rather than the people. I’m a Republican, that was a former Democrat and then a former Declined to State. I became Republican when I realized that DTS and Independent are just “feel good” parties that really don’t mean anything. I prefer to work to make my party better.

Ron Paul has some good ideas but is dangerous because of his so-called foreign policy. He will never be the candidate and knows it, yet he takes money from good people that he can keep. He hides in the GOP when everyone knows he is a big “L” Libertarian (another party that is only “feel good”).

Republicans: Ended slavery
Gave women the right to vote in areas they held
Are environmental conservationists
Defeated Soviet Communism.
Freed countless people from tyranny
Are pro-life
Pro-marriage between a man and a woman
Doesn’t think Iran should get the bomb.

Republicans:
Gave us OSHA
Gave us EPA
Gave us DHS
Gave us Medicare Part D
Gave us No Child Left Behind

What’s your point?

OH yeah, and don’t forget. America’s first progressive party (the bull moose party) was started by a republican.

Forest for the trees. This is not at all about Paul, this is about the MSM.

My view on this is well-known:

It's not working, it won't work, and the MSM is emptying their holster miiiighty early in a long election year. Mittens and Gingrich are both fairly innoculated at this point, although Newt is always a wild card to say something fun. But we're going to win in 2012 and we're also going to dance on the MSM's grave. ...

Didn’t say Republicans are perfect. I’d like to get rid of some on that list, especially the EPA. “No Child Left Behind” was tried to fix a problem. It didn’t work. Orville and Wilber didn’t get it right the first time either. Nor did Thomas Edison. But more often than not, the Republicans have done more good for this country.

What has your party done?

BTW, if your buddy Ron doesn’t like Republicans then why is he still registered as one? I’ll do you a favor and answer it. Because Libertarians can’t get elected.

Which do you dislike more, Obama or Republicans? If you vote for Paul, you vote for Obama.

See, that’s just ridiculous. First you make a statement about employers having to put up with stoners, then you turn the point into “legalizing murder”.

You could just as easily turn it around and ask, since murder and drugs are already illegal, why do we have these things? Because, you know, Prohibition really worked great. Why did we ever repeal it?

Another question for you — how many people in the last year were prosecuted on federal murder charges versus the number prosecuted on state murder charges?

Local governments and state governments are perfectly capable of deciding whether or not they want to legalize drugs in their areas. I would guess that most would not. We do not need the federal government involved in controlling local community decisions one way or another.

Why is that unreasonable?

Unless you’re a filthy, smelly druggy POS, why do you care?? Why do you want “legalized” dope?

You LIBERALtarians will never get it.

If you are going to make the constitutional argument for legalizing pot, you either follow it through to the natural conclusion of legalizing crack and heroin, or you are being insincere.

Ron Paul believes that heroin should be legal. It is yet another reason why I think the man is not only completely freaking nuts, but also dangerous for this country.
