Could a candidate with excellent name recognition and the ability to raise millions almost immediately still have a shot if they entered the race today?
Sarah Palin thinks so. And Jeb Bush is going to be visited by some very powerful party insiders and asked - again - to reconsider his decision not to run for president.
In an interview with Fox Business News, Palin refused to shut the door while saying that it wasn't too late to jump in:
Any chance we can see you making a play, even after Iowa or New Hampshire?" Bolling asked. "There's still plenty of time, Governor."
"You know, it's not too late for folks to jump in," Palin replied. "And I don't know, you know, it - who knows what will happen in the future?"
As for Jeb Bush, he has not encouraged the latest round of speculation, but his Op-Ed in the Wall Street Journal - almost a campaign style economic piece - that a lot of conservatives saw as a strong defense of capitalism has people asking why he can't still make a run:

I believe that there is a 0% chance that either Bush or Palin would enter the race at this time.
If this becomes reality, 0bama will have to do nothing to get elected to a 2nd term. The RINOs in the GOP will have done it for him. Palin (the big tease) and Bush (the chubby) need to go away. Please.
I’ll be voting for Gingrich, period.
I love Palin and I want nothing to do with Bush.
Regardless, they have each chosen to sit on the bench until 2 weeks before the game is in serious play and now they ‘might’ want to play , forgetaboutit.
GO NEWT GO...........
I'm with you.I could live with another President Bush. What I can't live with is another fours years of "reaching across the aisle" and refusing to defend himself while the dems and their MSM mouthpieces trash him.
Go Michele!
NO...........MORE............BUSH’S
Not now
Not EVER!!!!!!!!!
In times as these, anything can happen. We are approaching uncharted times, even entering it already and I expect anything, even a crisis created to enable him to declare martial law. Remember, anything.
A SuperPAC that she doesn’t “coordinate” with (to quote Milt) could take that $250K or any amount.
G help us not another Bush.
Hmmm...I’m going to have to go back and check out twelve sixteen eleven. ;-)
AHHHHHH!!!!
Make the madness stop!!
Could happen, but in all likelihood it would not. We control the House and the the Rats have a slim majority in the Senate with enough moderates to go our way. Impeachment proceedings on this poorly supported President would be fast and decisive.
There is no historic precedent for the first contests not being winner-take-all. This is a whole new ballgame and that is why people are, quite correctly, stating that someone may well get in late.
No more illegal alien loving, rino Bushes.
And heck no to Jeb Bush. We ended up with Clinton after daddy and Obama after Dubya. Goodness knows what we would get after Jeb.
Think what you will of Sarah Palin...if the conventionally wise folks think Jeb’s a realistic option four years after Dubya, they’re not remotely as wise as they think.
Gotta’ admit; it’s a fiendishly clever way to split up the vote and guarantee another 4 years of Obummer and his wrecking crew! The millions who would NOT vote for another Bush would be writing in a half-dozen names of THEIR various preferences, and Bush would lose by a landslide.
“Hmmm...Im going to have to go back and check out twelve sixteen eleven. ;-)”
LOL, it won’t help. Nothing took place on the day that prompted this.

It won't be a new ballgame. Proportional delegates will only help those with money in this race. Right now, few have it. Once a frontrunner emerges, all the other candidates will send their delegates to that person and they will win. The only one who won't is probably Paul if he gets any. This concept of a failed first ballot is a long shot at best. Obummer/Clinton was a nasty race set up like the one proposed here for our Primary. How did that turn out, contested convention? No.
The only reason this whole concept is accepted as a possibility is because the chattering classes love talking about silly things. If you recall, the reason the GOP came up with this stupid proportional delegate rule for early states was to create the excitement that the Rats had with their '08 Primary. What would be the sense of them doing this unless they started selling us to stay tuned to the possibility of a contested convention.
Preposterous that in a nation of 300 million people that just elected a communist Kenyan muslim, sane people would even discuss a third Bush.
