GOP candidates for Congress bullish on Gingrich at top of ticket
MSNBC ^ | Dec 16, 2011 | By Michael O'Brien

The hottest argument in Republican circles these days isn’t about immigration, taxes or even health care policy. It’s about New Gingrich and whether nominating him as the party standard-bearer would be disastrous or providential.

The pundits and professional consultants have weighed in on the question in a largely negative manner but many of the Republican candidates seeking election to Congress next fall don’t appear to share the concerns the GOP establishment seems to have about the impact Gingrich would have on downballot races as their presidential nominee. A dozen of the GOP’s top recruits to run for Congress, part of the National Republican Congressional Committee’s “Young Guns” program for 35 promising candidates, said in interviews with NBCPolitics.com over the last week that they’re not worried about running with the former House speaker at the top at the ticket. Some are downright excited about the prospect.

"I’ve been telling people all along that Newt is the real thing, and he’s substantially different than when he was Speaker of the House," said Dave Garrison, the Republican challenging Democratic Rep. Lloyd Doggett in Texas.

“I think for my race, my views are more in line with Newt Gingrich, and if the base rallies behind a Newt Gingrich-like candidate, it will benefit me,” said another Republican running for Congress in the southwestern U.S., who asked for anonymity in order to speak candidly about the race. “I think Newt’s a more exciting candidate; he’s going to bring more attention to the conservative cause.”

ahahaha

I just stumbled upon this video from the 2008 Republican convention. Newt so slaps down this MNSBC reporter - while Obermann waits with baited breath for a gotcha moment - oops - there WAS a gotcha moment, but Newt delivered it. Absolutely left the reporter so befuddled he just gave up - especially as to Sarah Palin.the poor reporter didn’t know what hit him.Watch this and then picture what he’ll do to the media in the general. This is going to be fun.

Newt will bring innovative change, eg; limit judges. Mitt will not shake up the old boy network.

They are frightened. They see the bubbles disappearing out of their champagne.

They know Newt will not give even ONE of their golden boys a position. He will sweep the HOUSE - and after 8 years of Newt's Team and then 8 years of Col. West's team (Newt want him for his VP) the Establishment Cabal will have been swept into the dustbin of history.

So let it be said, So let is be done.

Bah. I’m half-tempted to start a substantive list refuting annoying these mischaracterizations with appropriate counter-evidence.

I've got a long one if you want to borrow it?

WEll, then there now, FightforFreemdom - Now that you're done telling how much you don't like Newt, why not do the honest thing and tell us who you think would be better - and why.

note to self: don't hold breath

Newt is not a lawyer, but he knows the LAW better than they do!

Lawyers - probably the one single thing that has most destroyed our country.

Lawyers are trained to parse and twist the truth and that it's perfectly acceptable to do so - winning is everything, even if it means sending people you know are innocent to jail -

It's the 99% of despicable lawyers that make a bad name for the rare 1% honest lawyer.

Newt says he will not hold over ONE person from the present regime. That was both Reagan's and Bush's biggest mistake.

He wants Col. West for his VP, Bolton for SOS - and I double betcha he'll bring in Sarah - probably to spear head "Drill Here, Drill Now" - and notice the common denominator, besides all being America loving conservatives? Not a lawyer among 'em.

I look at how the GOP establishment elites are coming out hard against Gingrich and it leads me to think that he isn’t “one of them”. Looking at those who served in congress with him and seeing how “RINOcerously” they’ve all become,(Vin Weber,Lindsey Graham, etc)puts Newt in a different light. They seem to hate him but it appears it may be because he was to stridently conservative for their tastes.

Newt announcing he’d choose John Bolton as his Sec of State pleases me. Also, I’d like to see him find a position for Sarah Palin in the area of trimming waste from the federal budget or cleaning up the corruption in the beltway,a war on crony capitalism.

you say; “Perhaps we should refer to him as Newtron (Neutron), because he is going to blow Obama and the democrats War on America off of it’s foundation.... and he’s going to do that intelligently and very quickly.”

How quickly?

He will reverse about 45% of what obama has done on DAY ONE - (Obama makes it easy be ignoring Congress and ruling by EO’s. They are easily rendered null and void with the stroke of a pen - by Pres. Gingrich))

Newt’s DAY ONE plan: Within two hours after the Inauguration, he will have up to 200 Executive Orders already printed and ready to sign.

All czars GONE on Day One - positions not to be filled. He will not keep even ONE holdover from the current regime. etc

http://www.newt.org/solutions

Newt and the team he will choose will all have the experience in their fields of expertise to hit the ground running. They will not need weeks/months to get up to speed.

We do not have one day to spare if we’re going to save our country. We do not need people who need to learn their jobs.

It’s too late to get up to speed after you’ve gone over the cliff.

Sounds good to me. The Pubbies haven't really had a great game plan since Newt left the house. Last election's new contract they came up with was not as effective as the first Contract with America. And not as good as his current plans either.

I think he has a shot, and at least we get to see him mop the floor with Obama.

I think that Romney gives the Republican grass roots that queasy feeling. If the Pubbies “elite” really want the Senate, they better make darn sure that no Obama lite candidate heads the top of the ticket.

Besides, Conservatives are not going to continue on the Republican farm, if they don't sometimes get to vote for a real conservative. JMHO.

Fox News is Trashing Newt. Ed Rollins and Monica Crowley are trashing Newt, saying he doesn't have the money or ground game.

What these FOOL LOSERS do not understand is that there are a majority of CONSERVATIVES who will NEVER EVER vote for Romney. You hear that Beltway? We will NEVER vote for Romney. We will WORK to defeat and expose Romney just as we work to defeat and expose Obama.

If for some hair brained reason Romney wins the Rep Nom... it is a FACT he will lose the General Election. We will write in Sarah Palin or Newt in order to acknowledge that Romney = Obama. It is the same to us.

So right now, Monica Crowley is subbing for Sean Hannity on his show and shoving Mitt Romney as a given winner. Earth to Monica. Romney will lose. TEA PARTY Conservatives pretty much see Romney as disgusting as we see Obama.

These people who have access to the microphone are certifiably insane.

That was my favorite part of the debate. Megan so thought she had a gotcha moment, and Newt took her to school! I loved it.
