The last debate before the January 3rd Iowa caucuses is being held tonight in Sioux City.
We get seven candidates at this debate: Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum and Jon Huntsman.
Fox's Bret Baier anchors the debate. Fox News panelists questioning the candidates: Chris Wallace, Megyn Kelly and Neil Cavuto.
Glad I could make you laugh but feel bad making you almost hacking a lung to do it! Hope the cold goes away soon.
But he had some more gaffes again, including saying that the Monroe Doctrine was used against Cuba in the 1960s. Ugh.
***********************************************
That’s not a gaffe.....when the Soviets put missiles in Cuba, JFK went after them using the principles of the Monroe Doctrine when Castro established a socialist government with ties to the Soviet Union.
In the 1960s, JFK invoked the spirit of the Monroe Doctrine to prevent the further spreading of Soviet-backed Communism in Latin America. He demanded the missiles be removed and they were.
Bachmanns doing work for somebody...I agree she “picks” candidates and goes after them, which turned me off to her...whoever is coaching her is coaching her to loose IMO....She hasn’t distinguished herself from the pack as she did going into this...and when I really liked her....until she went after Palin...and she’s been on that track ever since. “Sour notes” says it well...and then she spins what she will falsely.....Nope...she has been a great disappointment. And cut out with the Barbie Doll look!
“Perrys response on the states rights 10th amendment issue of a state vs federal government aiding business was exactly right!”
Agreed. Texans are sometimes castigated for saying we are the best or biggest at something. We would like to hear how every one of the other States accels at some certain something they do best. Perry has stumbled onto something that makes America what it is. JMHO.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Perry is one who is finally bringing the importance of the 10th amendment to the for-front - and i love him for that. he talks about how the founders set the Constitution up to make the States COMPETE with each other. he gets that.
I can’t believe some of the comments.They are bashing Bachmann because she called Romney out.Perry would clean up DC Newt would keep the same ole same ole congress insider trading ponzi scheme because he is one of them.
Newt Gingrich won the debate.
The most significant loser tonight was Fox News and each one of those a$$hat moderators.
Right on, Gator!
I would classify her as Bride of Chucky.
My bad typo this time...Bachmann called Gingrich out.She has done the same to Romney contrary to the wacko comments on here saying Bachmann is in the tank with Romney.
I agree with every word of your post.
maybe I am a little too happy ....but I thought for a totally deranged nut Ron Paul came off really well.
Thank you for the info. I didn’t know this about the former Speaker.
To me the “part-time Congress” comes off as a completely flaky position and the audience never seems to respond to it very positively. It sounds like a gimmick and definitely one of those things that everyone knows would never happen. So how smart is it to waste so much energy in your campaign on something that will never happen? The U.S. Congress I’m sure has more to do than any state’s Congress. And they need to be there regularly to handle unexpected issues like, oh, say, a war. Actually if he phrased it as being there for a month and taking every other month off it wouldn’t sound so bad. But a year off and a year on just sounds ridiculous.
I am repeating myself, but I am done with Bachmann. She's aimed her false and sneering attacks at almost every rival and even at the candidate who didn't run! Bye now.
LMAO Dead on.
Newt would like COl. West for VEEP
and Col. West is leaving the door open.
you ponder: “Perry has already said he would ask Bolton to be his Sec’y of State”
Newt’s pick for SOS is Bolton
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/dec/7/gingrich-john-bolton-will-be-my-secretary-state/
and Bolton is open to it
these are the type people Newt would appoint - and he has said he will not keep even ONE holdover from the current regime - a disastrous mistake Bush made.
He does not
He’s on with Hannity now, trying to explain himself. I think someone gave him some O2, he looks calm now.
Welcome to FR.
Nice start. NOT.
“Thats not a gaffe.....when the Soviets put missiles in Cuba, JFK went after them using the principles of the Monroe Doctrine when Castro established a socialist government with ties to the Soviet Union.”
Oh, come on. Stop stretching. We know what he means, but it was a gaffe.
“It wasn’t over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.............”
