Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich now trails President Obama by double digits, his second straight weekly decline since becoming the GOP frontrunner. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters finds Obama earning 49% of the vote, while Gingrich receives 39% support.

Or anyone that can accept the fact he is NOT Presidential caliber.
Even the worst President America has EVER seen bets Gingrich in the polls.
Like I said earlier. A vote for NEWT is a vote for OBAMA.
“I said it before and I will say it again Newt is not going to get the women’s vote.”
Even if he promises and crosses his heart not to cheat on his current wife, and dsays he will not treat voters like he treated his other wives.
Okay, then. Call off the election.
willk has determined what the results will be 10 months before an actual vote gets cast.
Sure glad you were here, willk.
I wonder what the gender breakdown of FreeRepublic is.
Under withering attack from the establishment Republicans, no wonder. This is the mid-90’s all over again. Who passed the Contract With America, produced balanced budgets 4 years, drove Welfare Reform, pushed tax reform, and was Speaker of the House when the economy blasted off after the 94 election? I am not in love with all things Newt, but this attack from the moderates will take us all down.
Even under a totally divided GOP base, Newt is within 10 points, and Obama is still under 50%. These polls are crap.
I predict you will say it here a 100 more times before the clock strikes midnight on December 31, 2011. You know best!
Mitt the self confessed non red meat candidate.
“I am not in love with all things Newt, but this attack from the moderates will take us all down.”
If he can’t even handle attacks in the primary, how will he ever survive once dems pull out the long knives for him? Which they will viciously do the moment he clinches the nomination. It’s no coincidence that all the recent attacks come from republicans who know him, and dems are being very very quiet. Even Obama’s best girl Nancy got shushed.
Progressive Republican vs. SOCIALIST.
Republican will lose every time.
GOP Give us a REAL Conservative candidate.
90% Klingon.
(And it's not even the real one!)
Yeah, dats som offa dude!
That’s a man.
totally divided? newt is up 25 points everywhere
This is still too soon to say. Let Newt take it to the mat with a Rat and then see how the audience reacts.
Seems to me he’s handling the attacks quite well. The point is that does have a conservative history and was the primary reason that Clinton had to adopt the Triangulation strategy. Who do you think was the right side of the triangle that dragged Clinton to the middle?
The fact that all this is getting aired out and he is still in a strong position takes the shock factor out of the Obama do-over attacks next year. Gingrich has risen because he has been aiming his attacks where they belong - Obama. He makes a strong, cogent case for conservatism and in spite of his flaws, he has a real record as Speaker. He was very strong when he first became Speaker and was beaten down by the press and weak moderates and he faltered. I can say from the ‘95 shutdown which was Clinton’s fault, Newt was strong and paid a big price for it. There is no candidate in this field better prepared with real experience. None of the others come close.
I don’t understand comments like this.
If you try to tear down Newt before we have a suitable replacement, we’ll only end up with Romney. Is that what you want - the open socialist? The one person running who’s even worse than the wobbly RINO?
The moment another candidate eclipses Newt in the polls, I’ll be right there with you kicking him to the curb. But until then, sadly, he’s our man.
Even George W. Bush was “progressive” in the Newt sense. It’s an endemic problem. A completely constitutionally conservative Republican would be treated like a green Martian who would have to spend 75% of the time explaining why he believes what he does.
