“I am not in love with all things Newt, but this attack from the moderates will take us all down.”
If he can’t even handle attacks in the primary, how will he ever survive once dems pull out the long knives for him? Which they will viciously do the moment he clinches the nomination. It’s no coincidence that all the recent attacks come from republicans who know him, and dems are being very very quiet. Even Obama’s best girl Nancy got shushed.
This is still too soon to say. Let Newt take it to the mat with a Rat and then see how the audience reacts.
Seems to me he’s handling the attacks quite well. The point is that does have a conservative history and was the primary reason that Clinton had to adopt the Triangulation strategy. Who do you think was the right side of the triangle that dragged Clinton to the middle?
The fact that all this is getting aired out and he is still in a strong position takes the shock factor out of the Obama do-over attacks next year. Gingrich has risen because he has been aiming his attacks where they belong - Obama. He makes a strong, cogent case for conservatism and in spite of his flaws, he has a real record as Speaker. He was very strong when he first became Speaker and was beaten down by the press and weak moderates and he faltered. I can say from the ‘95 shutdown which was Clinton’s fault, Newt was strong and paid a big price for it. There is no candidate in this field better prepared with real experience. None of the others come close.
It is just been two weeks since Newt moved to the top of the pile, and you are saying that he can’t handle the abuse? IAC, it is too soon to opinionize. Let real facts enter in, as the result of January 3 in Iowa. All else is pre-race jousting for position.
