While I'm sure this is often true, I don't think it is necessarily so. A good many who call themselves libertarians consider even the system established by the US Constitution to be overly repressive of individual liberty.
At some point extremist libertarianism becomes a variant of anarchism.
Good retort! And great interpretation of Agenda 21.
“I have often thought of building a buttstock for a break action single shot that has a built in pez dispenser like shell dispenser”
I think Rossi makes a gun like that. Simple single shot, polymer stock, with shell storage.
At least I think it was Rossi.
The reason I used a velcro attaching system for a stgrip of shells is that the ammo and gun can be stored separately from curious little hands. The Rossi shotguns are very good quality, BTW. That;s what I used for my systems, too.
I’d like a thumbhole type stock on mine, with a trough running down the top of the stock where I can slide a fresh shell into the chamber.
“Had a blast with a Ruger Mk II, was a little intimidated by the .357 mag, and wouldnt touch the .45.”
Sounds exactly normal for a woman. :)
My wife would sooner shoot my 1911 than my 686 loaded w/ .357s though.
Women do seem to take well to .38 sp through a medium fame wheel gun though. What’s not to like? Enough bang to make them feel “gutsy”, but a mild enough “poot” to keep ‘em smilin’.
:)
For home protection? 12 gauge pump-action shotgun, loaded and in the corner or behind the bedroom door. Nothing sends a chill down an intruder’s spine like the distinctive sound of a pump. And you don’t have to be particularly accurate - just point and shoot.
We have libertarians here in Canada too (I certainly lean that way). We don't have your Constitution, so we wouldn't say that libertarians are constitutionalists.
The S&W Bodyguard is a fine self-defense weapon for anyone but especially females. The Ruger LCP .380 is a little smaller and lighter if that’s a concern for her. I just bought a Ruger to carry in the Texas summer heat.
As a side note, many gun owners and clubs still have a political beef with S&W for their signing an agreement in 2000 with the Clinton Administration to avoid lawsuits. Check Wiki for the details. I have friends who will not buy a S&W even though the agreement ended with the sale of S&W to Saf-T-Hammer Corp.
She’s talking about getting a permit, and buying a piece “for her purse”. Sweet.
Do you know how much spread there is to a 12 gage w/#8 shot or #4 shot at say forty feet down to twenty feet? Aiming is still required (for which lasers are an excellent addition). And as to the sound of racking a round, well, that only serves to alert an armed intruder.
Sounds like the poster would like a Saiga. And yes, Rossi makes a shorty with thumb-hole and four shell slots in the stock.
A conservative is a former liberal that's been mugged.
In her case, an ex-lover broke into her house and scared her spitless.
Good for her, when you need protection now, the cops are at best, minutes away.
Since she's shooting twice a month, she not only likes to shoot, she is preparing in case her ex-lover, or any other whacko, takes a run at her.
Owning a gun that sits, unused, in a bedside drawer, with never having any shooting experience is almost more dangerous than having no gun.
Since I've been shooting for over 60 years, I'm probably not qualified to get into that discussion, but training and usage is very important both physically and mentally.
That’s rather ingenious, FRiend.

The sound of racking the slide alerts the perp to your location and the fact that you are aware of his presence. At close range the pellets are in a tight bunch, so you still need to aim. A red dot sight would help with speed and accuracy. I recommend a Mossberg 930 SPX.
Liberals, when the law thwarts what they want to do, think that they are entitled to be exempt from laws they’d impose on everyone else.
This is part of their elitism.
Acknowledged. Yeah, it’s an alert ... to get the hell out. I won’t dispute your points though.

I keep seeing this repeated over and over again, and it doesn't square with my experience. I was surprised at just how small a pattern my cylinder bore (no choke) 12 gauge produced with buckshot. For home defense we're talking very short distances and the shot just does not spread out that quickly. And even if it did, the pattern density would be low with only a few pellets producing wounds.
"Don't have to aim a shotgun" is wrong, and may get the wrong person killed. A home defense shotgun needs sights and the owner needs to practice using them.
Yes, it does. And unless you're dealing with a tweeker or someone intent on killing you rather than just robbing you, alerting them is enough to send them quickly on their way.
I keep a Glock G19 9mm loaded next to my bed with an extra clip at the ready. I don't bother with a shotgun.
