Congress is finally feeling the pressure over insider trading, the practice of trading financial securities based on non-public information available to a select few in government.
After a series of investigative reports, including several here at Big Government, the American people are beginning to realize that what is wrong with this country can be diagrammed on a map, with a straight line connecting Wall Street and Washington, D.C.
Now exposed to the light of day, the political establishment is determined to show the American people it is doing something to clean up its act.
This week, the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing on the matter, taking what many observers saw as great pains to minimize perceptions of a systemic and bipartisan problem. But I remain skeptical, as do many Americans, that Congress will actually pass a bill with teeth that requires them to live by the same rules as the rest of us.

You are so beneath her in every aspect of class and quality that all I can do is laugh as you continue to display your banal sense of humor and inherently bitter approach to life in general.
Bless your heart.
Honestly, lately it seems common decency isn’t all that common on some of these threads. Sorry for your loss, Allegra.
Thank you. Yes, there are some pretty low people on here, but I always just consider the source. I pity people like that, really.
Mother loved Christmas and we always miss her especially around this time of year, but we also pay homage to her and the memories she made for us by making our own Christmases as festive as can be.
Some siblings and I (there are five of us) are converging on Dad's place in Virginia this year and those gatherings are always filled with warmth and lots of laughter.
Considering where I was last Christmas, I'm really going to enjoy this one!
I love southern culture, especially the use of the term above.
I would so much rather read freepers’ take on the very serious problem Congressional inside trader corruption than listen to the same old snarky, pin head comments.
Addressing corruption in Congress is very serious to me and it infects both parties. In addition we have the DOJ gun running and money laundering with the Cartels. Massive voter fraud has rendered our people without elective solutions. Another word for elitism is corruption. The “smart” people in both parties are criminally insane.
Corruption runs deep and we are beginning to resemble a bannana republic. People are permanently poor and horribly oppressed and abused in these kind of nations.
You’re not trying to tell me how to post, are you?
You’ve always come across as being smarter than that, so I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt unless you clarify otherwise.
Have a great day.
You totally misunderstood my post to you. You have a nice day, too. :)
Thanks shield.
I’m in favor of such a ban.
Particularly if it involves watching the corrupt elected officials (Demwits first) hang by the necks until they’re dead, dead, dead.
I keep waiting to see “The List” of Congress persons who have used insider information to trade stocks.
So far, no “List.”
No “List” means no problem.
