Saudi Arabia Plans to Acquire Nuclear Weapons wot

Saudi Arabia plans to obtain nuclear weapons, but its nuclear power will be only for “peaceful use,” a former intelligence official said Monday told a security conference on Monday.

"Our efforts and those of the world have failed to convince Israel to abandon its weapons of mass destruction, as well as Iran... therefore it is our duty towards our nation and people to consider all possible options, including the possession of these weapons," said Prince Turki al-Faisal, quoted by AFP.

He added, "A (nuclear) disaster befalling one of us would affect us all."

The Sunni Muslim kingdom last summer said it would build 16 nuclear reactors for energy, but Faisal’s remarks were the first indication, at least in public, that Saudi Arabia may acquire nuclear weapons.

Israel has maintained a policy of “nuclear ambiguity,” meaning it does not confirm or deny assumptions that it has nuclear weapons, perhaps as many as several hundred.

However, Saudi Arabia’s biggest worry is Iran, run by a Shi’ite Muslim regime that openly says it wants to head a new Islamic empire in the Middle East.

The Islamic Republic is on a collision course with the West – and Shi’ite Muslim Arab countries – as it proceeds towards the capability of both manufacturing and delivering a nuclear weapon.

Saudi Arabia focused on peaceful use of nuclear energy at the energy conference in the oil-rich monarchy. “Once our nuclear project is complete and we have satisfied the kingdom’s demand for electricity,” Saudi Arabia plans to export electricity, said Khalid Al-Sulaiman, vice president of renewable energy at King Abdullah City.

Probably more worried about Iran than Israel.

Who gets to attempt to lead the new ‘worldwide Caliphate’? Sunni or Shiite? That’s what this is about.

Sort like giving the Visigoths weapons of mass destruction. Except the Saudis have a barbaric culture.

I'm not surprised. John Bolton and others have predicted this if Obama let Iran get the bomb. The Arabs and Persian hate each other.

The leadership in Saudi Arabia knows that Israel has had the bomb since the 60s or 70s. Israel has no plans to use them. They know it.

Of course the leadership has to carp about Israel as if it were the bad boy on the block, when every sane person on the planet knows Iran is the real threat.

By allowing Iran to get the bomb, the United States has contributed to the proliferation of the bomb in ways it seemingly could never have imagined.

George Bush and Obama have failed not only our nation, but the world when it comes to the bomb and Iran.

This world is going to be a devastatingly dangerous place upon Iran’s deployment.

If as I suspect, the Muslim Brotherhood has been working across the Middle-East at the behest of Iran, we could be looking at multiple nations with the bomb in short order, causing the U. S. no end of grief, as it tries to carry on business as usual in the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf.

The Indian Ocean will also become problematic.

Once the cat is out of the bag, the plans will be available to every terrorist group and nation globally.

How our leaders could stand by and watch this take place is unfathomable to me.

Will say, to much bowing going on out there to the Saudis, and all that money, to spend, the Saudis have. Best guess?

Israel is not the enemy. Iran is their enemy. Iran wants Meca and the Hajj.

That is the most important fact in all the mideast.

Iran has been after it since their failed armed invasion of the Hajj in 1979. The Saudi military killed the Iranian invaders to the last man and they have not forgotten it. The recent aborted attack on the Saudi Ambassador brought this decades old feud to the surface

There is a HUGE difference between weapons and power.

I wish they would get this stuff more accurate.

“Our efforts and those of the world have failed to convince Israel to abandon its weapons of mass destruction, as well as Iran... therefore it is our duty towards our nation and people to consider all possible options, including the possession of these weapons,” said Prince Turki al-Faisal, quoted by AFP.

Let's see. Israel has had to defend itself against Muslims who have wanted to wipe them off the map in 1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973(actually continually since their establishment as a nation in 1948). So how many Muslims want to destroy a nation that is 263 miles from north to south and 9.3 to 71 miles wide. That's smaller than Florida.

This Goliath of 7,992 square miles is causing all the problems in the world.

No,no,no! The hatred expressed in the Koran and of the hundreds of millions of Muslims who believe and practice that hatred is the problem. Hatred, pure and simple. To them to destroy Israel, is to destroy the Word of G_d and negate the promises to Christians and Jews, and replace it with a Muslim Caliph ruling the world.

I wouldn’t disagree with that.

I do think Iran has it’s sights set on far more than Saudi Arabia though.

IMO Iran is intent on controlling all of the Persian Gulf territory clear across to all the Northern Africa nations.

I have tossed out the name, “The United States of Iran” to get my point across, but a loose federation of Muslim Brotherhood run nations, will essentially mean that this federation will control much of the region, unless confronted at some point and put down by a major military force. This may entail massive regional collateral damage.

I don’t see any other outcome, the way things are coming together, and our leadership has been catatonic on this issue for the last nearly twelve years.
