n an interview Tuesday with Neil Cavuto on Fox News, Mitt Romney announced that he will not be participating in the NewsMax debate on December 27 which will be hosted by Donald Trump, the businessman, media personality and, most controversially, prominent birther activist.
Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have so far accepted the invitation. Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman have turned down the invitation, and gone out of their way to reject Trump himself as a debate moderator who would demean the process. In Romneys case, however, he is simply chalking it up to scheduling.
No, Im not participating in that, Romney said, when asked by Cavuto. We have two debates in December that Ive agreed to participate in. The rest of the month is gonna be spent campaigning, doing the political work that youve got to do, to get the support of people in Iowa and New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida.

Look who shares the RINO establishment’s sense of class & decorum. /s
More air time for Gingrich. This one might turn into a one person interview.
Guess you didn’t read the short article?
Gingrich and Santorum have both accepted invitations.
Romney is clearly avoiding what would be an environment that would expose his weaknesses for all the world to see. It’s the same reason he’s rejecting Newt’s invitation to a Lincoln-Douglas style debate.
His campaign is very nervouse and will soon start to panic.
Turning down the Trump Show? Maybe Romney does have a little class.
Can someone please post a big picture of a PUSSY CAT?
I wonder if it would be OK with Mittens if Sarah Palin stood in for him that night—??
(I know it would be OK with me.)
Smart move by Romney. On the other hand, a Trump endorsement might mean something. On the other other hand, Trump is an entertainer and it might make Newt look silly giving Trump the self serving limelight he craves. Barf altogether.
If your polls are tanking, it would seem to me that Mittens should be clamoring for more air time to falsify more of his record. This just proves how entrenched Mittens is in the beltway establishment culture.
You know for a fact that after Trump called out Rove for the disaster he is, the wagons were circled at the RNC and a ban on Trump went out. Too bad more people like the Donald than like the elitist RNC.
Haw Haw.
I guess it will be Newt Gingrich debating Newt Gingrich.
[ Gingrich and Santorum have both accepted invitations. ]
Gingrich hammering Santorum into the ground, could be entertaining....
The only one I’m interested in watching so far. I pray to God there is a birther question, may be just the right forum. Maybe that’s what others are afraid of? We’ll see}:}
I had heard that Bachmann also accepted the invitation. I guess I misheard or was misinformed...
LOL.
Santorum will be wise to make his own case so he leave himself open to be schooled.
LOL.
Santorum will be wise to make his own case so he doesn’t leave himself open to be schooled.
Romney is a piece of dough, a piece of chewing gum, a shapeshifter, a go-where-the-wind-blows guy. If Obama won, he'd only be in by a plurality, the majority of Americans would oppose him, and Congress would swing hard right -- it is a MYTH, a BOOGEY-MAN, a pure panic response, to think that America couldn't survive another four years of Obama. OF COURSE IT COULD -- but four or eight years of water-for-guts follow-like-a-sheep Romney representing the GOP?
With Romney in the White House, congress would swing left, Americans seeking limited government in a political party would become demoralized and even more cynical than they are now, would come to HATE the Republican party, and the next Democrat president would make Obama look like a moderate, just the same as Obama has made Clinton look "good" by comparison.
Romney is disgusting and contemptible. "Scheduling conflicts" -- he is a worm doing to America and the Republican party what worms do to apples.
He can't trust The Donald to do the same.
It isn’t that Romney has “a little class,” it’s that he LACKS character and courage, so much so that he can neither deal with his peers and Trump on a public stage nor honestly say WHY he’s turning down the debate offer. Instead blowing sunshine up everybody’s patoot with his “scheduling conflict” BS. Yeah, there’s a conflict, alright — a conflict of priorities, not schedules. Romney won’t say so, though, because he doesn’t want to offend anyone. He would be the same, God forbid, in office, and in short order would have the GOP rolling over so fast and so frequently to the Left that the party would be no more than a chewed up doormat by 2014.
