Harry Potter and the Islamization of America
American Thinker ^ | 12/4/11 | William A. Levinson

The success of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series is due largely to the fact that the story contains elements for sophisticated adults as well as teenagers. The latter can enjoy the magical creatures and battles between wizards, while older readers and viewers can relate to the very real historical events that apparently influenced Rowling's writing. The series' theme is anything but fictional because it happened once and it is happening again.

...Dolores Umbridge is among the more memorable villains of the series. She threatens to punish any student who talks about Voldemort, and she punishes Harry Potter for insisting that he has returned. Umbridge's real-world counterparts abound in European countries, universities, and even the U.S. Government. They punish or ridicule as an "Islamophobe" anybody who depicts militant Islam as a menace to Civilization. Danish Member of Parliament Jesper Langaballe for example pled guilty to hate speech for saying accurately that rape and honor killings are frequent among Muslim families. "Under Danish jurisprudence it is immaterial whether a statement is true or untrue. All that is needed for a conviction is that somebody feels offended."

“How Voldermort slowly gains his power and his form seems to have a striking resemblence to Lord of the rings and Rowling has shamelessly copied it.”

I felt there were some similarities here as well. I think the main reason for the success of Harry Potter was that it was sold to a Western public at a time where a large number of young boys have no father (I know Harry has neither parent). Call me crazy, but many of my co-workers who have children into Harry Potter (going back for years) are divorced witches. As portrayed in “South Park”, real boys are into “The Lord of the Rings”...

: )

That’s not all she shamelessly copies from Lord of the Ring.

I do however discuss the Nazi allegory.

The truly frightening thing is that young people are being so thoroughly indoctrinated in moral relativity that it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to make a judgement about even the Nazis.

How interesting that no matter the name of the villain, the behavior and oppression of speech, thought and action are the first casualties.
Ms. Rowlings, however, has proved that she can see the value of personal responsibility and core values. Yet, she has often given lip service to the exact movements that embrace collectivism and moral relativity.

I can’t even discuss the mythology and astronomy within the series. They have no clue what I’m talking about. We do get into a little bit about the wand wood and the Celtic beliefs with the three main characters’ wands. We discuss in depth the significance and symbolism of the house colors, the house locations, the house mascots, and the names of all the characters. It takes a lot of prepping on my part though.

Right, horcruxes (including I believe a ring!) that can be destroyed only by certain methods. Dementors make noises like Nazguls, and so on. Or perhaps the movie directors were responsible for the latter.

Hmmm, Tom Riddle’s diary = Mohammad’s personal Koran = Hitler’s personal copy of Mein Kampf; the possibilities are endless!

It is by far my favorite! Not only do I enjoy the discussions but every year I learn something new. This year I learned that the snake Harry set free in The Sorcerer’s Stone is Nagini! Why didn't I figure that out before? We do a Hogwarts Spirit Weak too, based on how many high schools do spirit weak around homecoming. I divide the class into houses and they make their own t-shirts. Food day is my favorite. A very enterprising student last year made Weasley snaps (ginger snaps)! One of my favorite discussions is based on the Twilight series and how sex sells, but Rowling did not sell sex. Based on today's standards, how was Rowling able to enchant so many readers without any sex in her novels? Anyway, I'll stop here or I'll go on forever.

Dolores Umbridge is among the more memorable villains of the series.

I always thought she got off easy. In the books, Rowling never did mention any consequences for Umbridge or the rest. If it were me, I would have taken her out early in Book 7.

The Harry Potter series was originally written as a children's book series. My kids each got into it as they were graduating from Dr Seuss to "chapter books". I would them a great way to get my kids interested in reading.

Sex does not generally sell to first thru third graders, nor to the parents who buy books for them.

Nagini is not the zoo snake. That is an internet hoax.

Rowling tweeted the following:

“Nagini is NOT the snake Harry let loose in Philosopher’s Stone. That snake was headed to Brazil and Nagini was probably found in Albania.”

Anyway, Nagini was venomous, while the snake in the zoo was a boa.
