Perry was a happy-ass democrat - the party of big federal government involvement in education and everything else.

Texas democrats were a different breed. They were more conservative than many in other states.

Perry being a democrat has been answer several hundred times. In Texas, most people were democrats up until abt 1960’s. They were Reagan Democrats. That was what his family was and therefore what he was. He has always been conservative.

Until after Ronald Reagan was actually President, we didn’t even have Republican primaries in whole swaths of Texas.

And our Democrats were not the tax and spend kind, traditionally, until later in the ‘80’s. That’s certainly not the kind that Perry was. He and his cronies were known as the “pit bulls” for their opposition to spending and growth of Government.

************************************************

Do you feel the same about Reagan who was also a Dem at one point in his life?

Where Perry lived in West Texas...there were no Republicans.

He saw the light in the 80s and changed to Republican because he realized was a conservative & the Dems had become too liberal progressive big government!

Yeah... Back in the 1980s when Texas was almost totally Dem. Perry switched to Repub. in 1989 when he saw the Dems were moving to the liberal dark side, and that’s also when Texans in general began leaving the Dems. Texans are strongly opposed to federal government involvement in State matters and so is Perry.

It’s best to just support your own candidate, Notw..., instead of throwing rocks at the others by making up stuff.
