Here's Hoping Herman Cain Will Stay In the Race
FOXNEWS.com ^ | December 2, 2011 | Dr. Alveda King

In the 15th Century, “Lady Justice” was introduced wearing a blindfold. Her sightlessness was meant to represent objectivity, in that justice is or should be meted out without fear or favor, regardless of identity, money, power or weakness. Blind justice and impartiality should be the goal.

[snip]

Suddenly, while Mr. Cain is soaring at the top of the polls, proposing to scrap our three million word tax code for a simpler, fairer, pro-growth 9-9-9 plan (getting rid of the tax code would arguably be the largest transfer of power from the government to the people since the U.S. Constitution was ratified. No wonder the establishment resists such an agent of change) he is besieged by the media, suffering “death of a thousand cuts,” as described by Cain Senior Adviser, Niger Innis.

For six unrelenting weeks, Mr. Cain has been the target of attacks on his character. His accusers have yet to prove anything, yet the man has been judged guilty in the court of public opinion without even a semblance of a fair trial.

[snip]

We the people must demand a more just political process. If someone is going to talk about another person’s character, they must have irrefutable proof and not just their word. The people should demand this and so should the media. A political campaign should address the many troubling issues facing the nation and not have to waste its resources defending meaningless allegations.

We must demand that the media reports on the issues, and let us see the platforms of the candidates. In the face of these attacks, on Mr. Cain and other presidential hopefuls, I’m inclined to find that Tabloid Justice is indeed blind, but far from objective.

“why do you capitalize attorney?”

Because I know many personally and respect them. Also any Attorney is an ‘officer of the court’ everywhere they are licensed to practice law.

I seriously doubt Mr Cain is planning to sue anyone, discovery works both ways.

“A man who can lie to his wife (and as Orwell noted, omission is the most powerful form of lie”

That’s why I want to hear from Gloria Cain. What Herman did would be wrong for me in my relationship w/my wife; however, we still don’t know if this was just the way Herman normally does things; (He is a known and documented philanthropist who has given huge sums of money to worthy causes; and this may have been “small change: to him.) or whether his motive was to hide the fact he was giving funds to Ms White. I have said before, I am disappointed in Mr Cain (for how this issue has been handled by his campaign) ...but I am still w/him.

I hope Mr. Cain will stay in the race through the GOP primaries. Let the voters decide who our candidate will be, rather than the liberal MSM.

We can all disagree, but I hope he is gone (along with the other hanger’s on). H seems like a nice and accomplished man but my yorkshire terror has more common sense and may understand our national issues better.

You kidding? On this board, at this time?

Nowadays, people tweet and text, it is easier than learning the trumpet, and more people are informed of the 'giving' prior to the deed.

Gots to be collecting the accolades, or who would know?

Hang in there Cain. There is a lot at stake & the biggest IMHO is the need to not let OUR candidates be controlled by half truths, media hype and outright lies

HYPOCRISY cannot win this one. If Cain drops out for whatever reason the lying media, RATS have won a big battle & maybe the wr

The woman wouldn’t answer that question either. She was asked directly by Lawrence O’Donnell on TV.

Cain’s lawyer may be trying to get that info from HER, and then get that info from Cain, and if their numbers are dramatically off, then that’s one more place she is lying.

However, she told O’Donnell that the money was always paid in CASH. So there will be no record, one way or the other. So once again, she can claim he was giving her $10,000 a month, and she can’t prove it.

Or maybe the reality is he was giving her $40 a month, in which case, BIG DEAL. But we can’t prove that either.

She has ZERO proof that we have been provided. No photos, no receipts, no airline tickets, no cards/letters, etc. She hasn’t even named one single “gift” even though the media keeps reporting that Cain “lavished her with gifts.”

I give lots of money to lots of charities and or people that I know and don’t know, without telling my spouse. Over 40 years I’m sure it would add up to a considerable amount. There is nothing nefarious about it.

Well, that is your own marriage. You also are not running for president.

IMO a guy who hides money given to a woman from his spouse is lying through omission. And if he'd lie like that to his own wife, what lies would he tell voters?

Cain's main selling point is that he represents something better than the average politician. This admission to me shows he isn't in the department of being forthcoming. And the fact that he didn't take care of this before he entered the race calls into question how well he understands the gauntlet that he chose to enter of his own accord.

And I don't have a preferred candidate at this point. I was leaning Cain, but this admission to me is a real bucket of cold water to the face.

I just don't believe this man thought he had anything to hide. He would have disclosed it when he ran for the Senate as he did the sexual harassment case against him.

I think this woman is what doesn't add up.

Cain's lawyer has incorrectly advised him before so why wouldn't this just be another one?

None of this is logical. There have been so many illogical things happen during the course of Obama's run up to the Presidency that this just adds to it. (tin foil hat time....) For example: How does one get court sealed documents on your opponents divorce unsealed and made public so said opponent has to drop out? How was it logical that the dems actually took votes cast for Hillary and gave them to Obama which gave him the primary win? Look at what was done to Sarah Palin!

I say again, this is a set up. Something innocent is being made to look sinister and we are falling for it.....again!

If we let this happen, we are done. Obama wins another term and our country will have lost the freedoms it was founded on.

The institutionalized corruption in DC runs so deep that neither party can afford to let an outsider win. In this case, the GOP leadership lets the MSM and the Dems do the dirty work, but they stand silently by cheering under their breath. It’s sickening.

Uh, yes, I see it is VERY problematic that he did not tell his wife about giving money to another woman. Omission is the most powerful form of lie, to quote Orwell.

So you are saying that he should have told his wife that he was giving charitable money to any woman, any man, any charity, or just this woman in particular? My wife expects me to handle certain aspects of our lives and does not want to hear about the day to day decisions I make, even regarding money. That's my job. She would probably get suspicious if I did start informing her of everything. She would figure I must be covering my tracks or something.

Just a question. Are you married?

I'm a Cain fan, but I'm guessing he's going to throw in the towel today. I hate how this smear campaign has done him in, it's possible for him to overcome it, but what dirtboy said is correct. The one true fact is that he sent money to this woman without his own wife knowing it.

Colossal mistake.

I'm still going to defend him, because the smear campaign was obvious. We can't continue to let the MSM destroy every one of our candidates. Romney is the only one I won't support if he wins, we may have to rally around someone who will not be our perfect candidate to beat Romney, then rally around them to beat Obama.

I'm still hoping that one will be Cain, but I am right now doubting that's possible.

Herman was on his way—what the hell was he thinking—being a commonsense man with a commonsense plan to save America—the plan being that the country is sick both morally and fiscally and desperately in need of a successful God fearing liberty loving capitalist—much like our founding daddies—to do the nick of time Calvary whatever.
Too bad he was black.
The GOP elite establishment allied with the Left mendaciously exploited the most evil racist stereotype of the uncontrollable horny black man to take him out so as to insure big government RINOs like Newt and Mitt win.
If I could barf online I would.

Cain's main selling point is that he represents something better than the average politician.

Yeah, a man of God that seems to take the bible literally regarding alms giving, which you conveniently avoided addressing. :)

This admission to me shows he isn't in the department of being forthcoming.

Or that he doesn't feel a need to blab about his alms giving or blab about things that may have been told to him as a confidante. That happens a lot to Ministers.

Hopefully today we will know more.

I never said anything about the IRS going after White about the gifts from Cain. We know that she had financial troubles but that won’t stop the Einsatzgroupen of the IRS from making things up. I have dealt with them in the past and I can attest to the fact that IRS employees are much less than human and fully capable of doing whatever they want in destroying anyone. And the very fact that you appear to be unwilling to even entertain the idea of government agencies abusing their power and targeting someone they perceive as a threat tells me you are either naive, a fool or a troll

That’s what is irritating to me. But on your particular point, you have no argument from me.

And I have no argument on your point either. I have no desire to see the MSM gloat about their role in driving Cain out of the race. And to the other candidates, look up the definition of Pyrrhic victory in the dictionary, because this line of attack will be used on you next.

But at the end of the day, recall that Bush the Younger hired private detectives to dig up whatever dirt they could on him, so he was prepared for whatever Dem attacks could be sprung on him.

Cain apparently couldn't even be bothered to come clean with his own wife about a secret like this.

If anything, it shows he did not understand or did not care about what he was getting into in running for the GOP nomination.

I listened to Hannity for the first time in a long while yesterday and almost threw up at his “There is NO PERFECT CANDIDATE” mantra when someone would fire off about Newt.

Hannity is a moron.

We should dismiss Cain for his (ALLEGED) imperfections and dismiss Newt’s REAL and MANY ones?

Whatever.
