Do the Math -- Gingrich Is Now the GOP Front Runner
Fox News ^ | 11/30/2011 | Douglas E. Schoen

Posted on 11/30/2011 10:47:27 AM PST by TBBT

There is a new front runner in the Republican nomination for president, one who has frankly not been recognized as a front runner, given the nature of the media and the reporting on the contrast. That front runner is Newt Gingrich, who in the new Iowa Insider Advantage poll has a 15% lead over Mitt Romney. That lead, which is well beyond the margin of error, suggests that he is now in a commanding position in Iowa, which could well lead to a victory of the size and scope that Mike Huckabee won four years ago.

But beyond that, Gingrich is 28 points ahead in South Carolina, the third primary, which would be a landslide victory for the former Georgia Congressman should the numbers hold up.

With New Hampshire now within 10 points, and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney running ahead of Gingrich only here, there is every reason to believe that the combination of the Manchester Union Leader's endorsement, and the former Speaker's now likely victory in Iowa will tighten the race even more in the Granite state.

Further, given the newly released Florida numbers, which show Gingrich with a commanding 24 point lead over Mitt Romney, there is every reason to believe that the race has swung decisively in the direction of the former Speaker. The former Speaker is benefitting not only from superlative debate performances, but also from the decline and perhaps fall of Herman Cain. Polls show that the former Cain voters are breaking by at least 2 to 1, and in some cases 3 to 1, for former speaker Gingrich.

Put another way, if Gingrich wins Iowa, is very competitive in New Hampshire, and wins South Carolina and Florida in landslides, the race will effectively be over...

” Rasmussen has Newt over Obama 45 to 43!!!!!!!!! “ <<

Now we’re talkin’. If RAS says it, it’s bankable.

The primaries are at the door and peaking on time is exactly what it is all about. Not rising and falling, not question marks, not too soon, or too late, but right on time.

This is getting serious. Good. And Newt is serious.

At least McCain had the war hero card to play... This guy, not so much.

I can picture him now waddling on the stage next to Obama with his cheshire cat smile (looking like he swallowed $300 million from Fannie Mae) with his blonde wife with the funny name looking on.

I might gag.

ROFLOL! You say so, but can’t produce a link to prove it. Although, I certainly can produce several links that show his stand on the issue.

You are either extremely ignorant, or you are impeccably dishonest. So which is it?

Did you see the Gingrich-Cain “debate”? They agreed on 99% of everything. It was really more just two guys talking about issues (ok, mostly Newt talking), not much debating goin’ on.

” And Newt is for illegal aliens. “

We have seen that Perry set the table on the realities of resolving the illegal immigration problem, and now we see your candidate and every other candidate pulling up a chair saying the same dang thing except for parting their hair differently. Please. They have ALL been exposed as saying exactly what Perry said and it includes, besides Perry; Bachman, Cain, Gingrich, and Romney. It’s on audio, video, TV, transcripts and horseback.

Gingrich said in a CNN debate held November 22, 2011 that: “I don’t see how the party that says it’s the party of the family is going to adopt an immigration policy which destroys families that have been here a quarter century.” He also said: “And I’m prepared to take the heat for saying, let’s be humane in enforcing the law without giving them citizenship but by finding a way to create legality so that they are not separated from their families.”[106]

There is a new front runner in the Republican nomination for president, one who has frankly not been recognized as a front runner, given the nature of the media and the reporting on the contrast.

Are you kidding me? Has Doug Schoen not been paying attention.

The media have declared Newt and Mitt to be the frontrunners for at least a week now. They are overjoyed to have two establishment insiders as the front-runners. They can hardly contain themselves.

It is so different compared to how they reacted when Cain was the leader several weeks ago. Back then, they said Cain did't stand a chance because he didn't have the money or organization to win and there was too little time to build his campaign staff. There is no such talk about Newt, who has less money, organization and time than Cain did. This time, the establishment media immediately and happily included Gingrich as a front runner and have declared it a two-person race.

Gingrich is a long time insider and an entrenched part of the corrupt political system. He is playing us. He is an old-time snake-oil selling politician telling the gullible hicks what they want to hear. The hicks are falling for it, naively telling each other how smart he seems in the debates and how his potion will solve all of their ailments.

There is palpable sense of relief by the Establishment Republicans. In Gingrich or Romney, they believe they will have one of their own as the nominee.

The people will suffer. We cannot fix the country until we end crony capitalism and corrupt politics. It will be politics as usual. As usual, Newt and Mitt will serve their special interests instead of the people.

It will be a serious blow to the aspirations of the Tea Party. .

Look, the guy has admitted he has, in the past, made mistarkes and made some bad decisions which he regrets today and is not only remorseful, but repentant. He has had a spiritual conversion, becoming a Catholic, he has become a grandfather and is older and wiser. I’m just glad that God believes in “the second chance”. But then, God isn’t a FReeper.

Gingrich has argued the first priority for immigration reform is tighter border control. He has pushed for Congress to pass a narrowly written emergency border bill to finish the border fence between the United States and Mexico in less than a year and have complete border control within two years.[105] In addition to greater border control, Gingrich has advocated for measures to discourage the hiring and harboring of illegal immigrants, such as shifting Internal Revenue Service resources to audit companies that employ illegal immigrants and cutting off federal aid to cities, counties or states that refuse to enforce immigration laws. He has frequently argued for using credit card companies to develop identification cards and a real-time system to verify citizenship.[105

I can sure handle a balanced budget for 4 years in a row. And I consider myself a tea party person. Nobody has that accomplishment on their resume except Newt. Wouldn’t you like to see a repeat of that accomplishment?

Did he have that "spiritual conversion" before or after he pocketed millions from Fannie Mae?

At least he has a plan; and it sounds good to me. Last night on Greta, even though she pressed him, Rick Perry refused to tell what his plan was on how to deal with the 11 million Illegals who are already here. Why? Because he, like all the others does not have a friggin' workable plan. Gingrich has a plan that is doable and is NOT Amnesty.

Maybe amnesty and 100m new dem leaning voters are what the country needs. After all, tax rates, spending and judges can always be changed, but amnesty (oh but lets call it legalization of illegals so those pesky natives don’t get offended) is permanent change.
