Former President Bill Clinton praised his erstwhile nemesis former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, crediting his strong debate performances with propelling him into front-runner status for the GOP presidential nomination.
(snip)
Clinton was impressed that Gingrich devised a red card system that would be used to stop normalizing the immigration status of illegals if efforts to control the border proved ineffective. That was a thoughtful response, Clinton said.

Is Newty running for the democrat nomination? All these LIBERALS love him after his amnesty stance.
Newt isn’t my idea of the perfect candidate...not even close...but you gotta give him this...he’s a thinker. He has ideas, some good, some not so good, but at least his conception of a capitalist, free America is one that is becoming rare among the Ivy League elite and some others.
Besides, he’s not Romney, who’s been on every side of every major issue.
I think the reason the RATS love him so, is his baggage. They know he will be easy to beat. . . . . .
The intelligent idiots of acedemia have convinced themselves that they are far superior in intellect than us commoners. By endorsing or agreeing with a front runner on the GOP side this may sway many who sit on the fence. Sorry bubba
Clinton - clinging to celebrity like lint on a La-z-boy.
Only an intellectual could coin the term 'path to non-deportation'
Obama's Administration is full of thinkers.
We need fewer thinkers in DC and more doers.
Folks who have done stuff like meet a payroll and make the hard business decisions to stick to budgetary constraints in difficult times.
Folks who haven't had the option of the Fed printing more money when the cash flow ebbs down.
Folks who have to face the hard-nozed scrutiny of shareholders instead of pandering for votes with other people's money.
One would think all of the applause for Newt from liberals would give his supporters on FR pause. But they are too busy running around trying to convince us that amnesty isn't amnesty.
Obama’s administration is full of socialist thinkers...Newt ain’t one of those. And he’s still not Romney. Show me an alternative to Newt and I will give him/her serious consideration.
For true conservatives, Billy Jeff just gave Gingrich the kiss of death.
I guess you are another Newt supporter too addled by Newt's alleged brilliance to notice he is abusing words to pretend what he is pushing isn't amnesty.
Newt has all kinds of transgressions since he left Congress, but I guess those don't matter, he really means it this time.
You are free to fall for the bait and switch. I know one when I see one.
Yeah, he's better than Mitt. But he is the last on my list of alternatives to Mitt, other than Huntsman and RuPaul. I don't see how we alter course on the Beltway by voting in one of its leading figures.
And the fact that he is pushing a variant of the failed Bush/McCain non-amnesty amnesty shows he is unable to learn from mistakes - the hallmark of liberalism.
Ok, I’m done with Newtie.
There is no one left. This is disgusting.
The DNC came out the other day and endorsed Newty Toad.
I think we are heading for a brokered convention.
At this point, I’d take Paul Ryan or ... well, Paul Ryan.
This is almost hopeless.
“Old foe”?
Gingrich allowed himself to be blackmailed. He shut down or limited investigations into deeper crimes by the clinton crime machine.
That was probably his plan. Maybe fear of Gingrich, so have Clinton like him. That will turn everyone off.
I can understand Clinton liking Gingrich. Those two have a lot in common. I doubt a lot of conservatives pay much attention to Clinton and his opinions. I consider him a poor excuse for an ex-president as in “You’re out of office Willy, STFU! No one is interested in your babbling.”
What do you know “slick zippers” stick together.
I believe that's the plan.
